Daniel, it is perfectly fine to feel a foreigner, i have lived in UK for 50 years I am married to an English girl, but was born in Cyprus but I have always felt a foreigner and that is fine I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have lived in the UK for 50 years and have never got used to the weather it is dreadful, why do you think the Romans left Britain? they got sick of living in mud!.

Hi Daniel, I am of Greek heritage, and I finally got to stay in Nafplio for 10 days. By the time I left a couple of people knew who I was, we said hello to each other. I think I know that exact route you're taking, that i used to take on my way to the beach. My roots are western Macedonia. I myself love my heritage but I also appreciate and love my Canadian lifestyle. ( where did you say you lived in Canada?) I have been to Greece numerous times but I also want to see other places. I actually needed a break this year from Greece, but...I will certainly return. Thank you for your videos and I respect that you don't put other countries down. I enjoy your videos.

Just discovered your content and you are dead on with your insight. I live in New Jersey but my wife and I own a home in Chania that we visit every summer. We know our cost of living in the summer, however what would you say the cost of living is weekly or monthly on average with or without your rent the off season? We are considering doing a full year and would like some insight on a budget to really enjoy day to day.

Greek parents born in Montreal. You need to get burnt in life to realize it not worth it killing yourself for a nicer car or bigger tv. I would sell everything to move to Greece. But my son is young and his Greek is poor. He has his life here. But did you wonder if your daughters will stay in Greece? The grass always looks greener on the other side.

Im currently holidaying in Corfu, (4 days) leaving to Poland tomorrow. I was already in Athens for 3 days last week. Greece is an amazing country.. I found the locals helpful.. But I stick out like a sore thumb.. Im the only South African.. African tourist.. Of Indian descent.. The only non white people I met in the last week, were Bangladeshi migrant workers and a Eitrea couple.. They were drawn to me since I was an anormally to them.. Being the only non white tourist.. That being said there were many many Europeans and Americans holidaying in both these cities.. I just wonder why I was the only non white...

The term ex-patriot infuriates me! It's an Anglo construction so that they do not have to consider themselves lowly immigrants. I am Greek and have been an immigrant and it is no shame at all, so get over yourselves English speakers!

When i lived in Greece during covid I was team My Market almost everyday!!! 😊😊😊 I never went to sklavanites and i loved the Wednesday farmers market in my area of Kypseli!!

I am a greek and I live in Thrace, northern Greece. Your vids make me feel like I 've been missin out on what it means to live in Greece.

This video, like hundreds online noawadays, is mostly directed to those who are self-employed, working from home and online. While earning money in a foreign currency, I assume while using English language mostly. That's more like existing in a foreign country and enjoy a nice lifestyle than actually living. Because it is another thing if you are.....creating a CV, applying for jobs, going to job interviews and interacting with colleagues and managers....all this in the local language.

Hello Daniel, my wife and I watch your show from Ontario, Canada, we watch all your stories and I think you give fair and honest opinions about your life in Greece......we have been lucky enough to have visited Greece 4 x times over 32 years. We loved Nafplion on our last visit and that whole area of the Greek mainland. It takes a lot of fortitude and willpower, not to mention sacrifices to move to another country and change your life! We are delighted for you and your family....keep up the stories as they are fascinating to watch and learn.

Let me correct you if I am might . Greeks are working very hard to pay the Greeks that having good rest by “working” public sector and get in pension at 45 years old. And that is long story short of the Greek bankruptcy . Greece was second in growth after Japan world wide for two decades . Mid 50 to mid-70s. After 80s the “Greek dream” was to join the public sector and became early pensioner at 45 years old. I return from work every day at 19:00 , my neighbor is there from 14:30 and having a nap. Saludos amigo y un abrazo .

Final disclosure if you are alone and want to live in a village in Greece 1000 euros are enough to make it through a month...just a slacker greek guy from Athens !!!

As you mentioned it's about our dream and where our hurt is leadiing us. As a uk citizen i can confirm weather is depressiing, but never in a million years i regret my decision to expat to UK. That said Nafplio is indeed close to perfection.

ANCIENT GREEK ONE OF THE BEST CIVILIZATION...

I don't want to disappoint you but will never be Greek...no matter how much you like the country, no matter how many years you live there. Simply because your roots are different and it's nice to see that you are open about your nationality and identity. Some foreigners hide their identity and pretend they are Greeks because it sounds better. Greeks, have been through a lot! We've had wars with neighbours, world wars, invasion, occupation, civil war, dictatorship, genocides...all kinds of attrocities casued by foreigners. We still exist because of our own bravery and struggles without much help from our allies, mostly betrayed by them. We are always in some kind of a war with foreigners on many levels, except in recent years the weapons are different. We have been fighting for our freedom and our right to exist in our country so we, Greeks, can say we are Greeks (Hellenes) and have our country as our home. And not for foreigners to use our ancestors sacrificies to make themselves look good. I have lived in foreign countries too, but I have never tried to be or call myself anything else. Greek nationality should not be given easily and Greek ethnicity cannot be given to any foreigner since ιθαγενείς = ευθύς γένος. When sooo many foreigners create videos online to brag that they work online, get paid in USD and not the local currency and enjoy a nice lifestyle by the seaside, then they will hear all kinds of comments from the locals. And one last thing....if Greece has another war, let's see how many foreigners will fight alongside the real Greeks!
