I feel fortunate to have made the decision to get the Model 3 Standard Range RWD just a few weeks before it was discontinued in Canada... LFP battery, $1,300 referral credit, and the delivery fee was still $1,880. I probably would not have purchased a Tesla if I had to make that decision today with the more expensive long-range RWD and $2,500 delivery fee.
Congratulations on locking in that price on top of making use of the now discontinued discount! That is the thing with Tesla. They are always adjusting things for better or for worse daily with pricing and incentives.
@@teslasincanada I also heard that the LFP Teslas from Shanghai have better build quality compared to the cars from Fremont. Can't speak to that personally as this is my first Tesla, but the build quality on my car has been excellent - no issues!
@@vincentkwok7857 my Shanghai Built Y was better constructed than my Model 3 built at Freemont. But I would expect as much as Freemont had/has a more original Assembly line whereas Shanghai was a purpose built building after everything has been figured out and sorted for ultimate build efficiency and quality. Also the Model 3 was a 2022 built one and they are continuing to improve year over year.
Your comment on the robotaxi becoming a model 2 by adding a wheel and pedals is exactly what I was thinking, I feel we seen the model 2 prototype disguised as the taxi. They have said that basically every Tesla will be a robotaxi.
Yes I believe it was a bit of a sneak peak at the Model 2 which they still have slated to start production in early 2025 they just have not spoken about it at all recently. Something they are holding in their back pocket for later :)
It’s not possible for Teslas without self-closing doors to become effective robotaxis. Imagine one of the passengers leaves the door open after exiting; the car has no way to close the door or move around safely, requiring the owner to somehow come and rescue it.
That is probably due to China not shipping vehicles to Canada anymore. Now coming from US, however OEM don't charge extra charge for shipping to Canada.
@@jamespaul2587 US dollars are worth much more than Chinese money, so they that is why it does make sense. That was exactly the reason Canada was getting Chinese made Tesla Model 3 & Y.
@@rozonoemi9374 It doesn't matter, shipping costs are lower from the US so destination fees should be equal or lower now also. Canada was getting Chinese built vehicles to save US built batteries for US vehicles as that was required for rebates.

@@rozonoemi9374 yes, but buying a new CT compared to a used one after 1 or 2 years is a much more expensive option. Future versions will be cheaper and they will have improved build quality and features, like most new models of a newly designed vehicle.
With the 100% tariffs on Chinese made Tesla vehicles (as of October 1st 2024), Tesla has to increase prices to avoid losing too much money. Folks should avoid the brand IMO. It's just getting to nasty.

Yes it did change as they added in 0% financing so they reduced the incentive unfortunately.

Isn't this price increase because they changed it to a Long range RWD?? It was SR+ RWD before.
The delivery fee portion is unrelated as it is across the board here in Canada. There was the previous increase due to the switch as of Oct 1st.
I just checked and there does not appear to be an increase levied here in the USA ... yet.
