Got technical question of Lyiester hand welder, using a 2000 watt peak predator generator. The thought process on this case. Should a 3500 watt be used?

How come they didn't kick the roll to eliminate the wrinkles? I didn't see tack welds before running the doggie

Rigel, thanks for your response and to answer your question regarding wrinkles and tack welds.
The minor wrinkles that you may be seeing will dissipate over time and the sheet will tighten up.
In regards to the tack welds you are referring to, I am assuming that you mean back tacks?
If so you should avoid doing tack welds/ back tacks on a MA system. I’m assuming that you have been on a roof that has a MA system on a windy day and have seen the roof “pillowing” ? ( for lack of a better term)
If you do tack welds/ back tacks the sheet will pull on those VS pulling on the welded seam and eventually pop or tear at these tack weld/ back tack areas.
Once this happens in these areas you could expose the underlying scrim which will only get larger over time, thus opening up the possibility fir leak issues. So we highly recommend not to do tack welds/ back tacks on a MA system

Dave or Wally there are some roofing companies around me that are doing TPO on mobile home roofs. My question is what is the best welder to use on a roof with a pitch would a semi auto work for this or hand welder

Hi Scott. We recommend using a heat gun that is designed to weld thermoplastic roofing membrane such as TPO.

Not sure if you two are still checking your messages on these videos I’m a roofer out here in Chandler Arizona with D7 and I have a question about putting insulation on an RTU curbs that’s a re-roof is it a requirement is my question is it a necessity in GAFS details, or What is the exact assembly when doing a re-roof and then flashing those RTU curbs?

How much is the square for a tpo roof remove and replace, the old roof is tpo aswell and there isnt any insulation underneath and most of it is glued to the plywood. Thanks

Can you install TPO directly over roof sheathing?

Hi, Miguel. It depends on how and where you're looking to install the TPO. Here are a few options:
For the field of the roof, if it's mechanically attached, you will need to use a slip sheet, fleece-back membrane, or an approved insulation. If adhered, it should be to an approved insulation board and for RhinoBond, it should be installed to an approved insulation.
If you're looking to install it over a wall, you can adhere smooth TPO with 1121 or QuickSpray adhesives. We recommend contacting our team directly at 800-766-3411 if you have any other questions.
