if you look at the facts certain things are clear. 1. armstrong took epo in 1999. 2. thereafter he probably didn't take eop but only transfused on the second rest stage which is the only explanation for his extraordianry blood values in the third week of the tour. 3. he was easily the most talented and committed tour rider of his generation and was riding with and against nothing but dopers. 4. he deserves his 7 tour crowns.
you do realize others have taken EPO, Steroids etc and won nothing. You still have to train and be mentally determined to win races. Its wrong what he did but its not like he just popped and easy pill and cruised to the finish line. He had to suffer like every one else. Just saying;
***** Literally every single Tour De France winner for the past 20 or so years has been on steroids or something, don't think because Lance was the best of all time that he cheated everyone else, he simply did what was required to compete at the highest level. People who are outraged by steroids in Cycling are very naive, Cycling is probably as dirty as Weightlifting for steroid use. Most professional sports are full of steroid/hgh/epo users. Let them use steroids, if they want to destroy their body I don't care, at least it will be an even playing field because EVERYONE can use drugs.
No, the other cyclists couldn't hide in the United States the whole year while doping himself with any kind of possible (expensive) drugs, under the tutelage of the best doctors the money can buy, and then show up JUST for the Tour de France while avoiding all the other races. So it was NOT an even playing field, you fucking moron. And fuck Lance Armstrong, you cheating piece of shit.
Mate, that really is a stupid statement. Yes, others have taken substances and not won, because they were beaten by another cyclist taking substances. There can be only one winner in a race. But, who knows how some of these cyclists would perform in a "healthy" environment. ... They might be complete flops.
Mark Graham Right, and Lance is one of them who could not perform without being doped to the gills with EPO. Other athletes have much higher hemocrit blood O2 levels, so Lance had no chance without doping and Lance admitted that fact.
What I find scary is that he went from an FTP of 400 to 425 after a week of training camp. It takes 300-310 watts to cycle 25 mph on the flat with no wind and for Lance that would be right at endurance pace; he could literally keep that up for hours. That's insane!
I think Lance´s training is going very well.Lance will be strong in the moments of truth:June/July.The most important think is that he can recover great efforts of every day's in he Giro d´Italia or Tour. Lance has much merit to compete professional cycling world again. He is a really great champion.
Sounds like a couple of people are pretty upset about Lance. I believe it was much easier for the others who admitted usage of drugs on the tour than Lance. Lance had a planet on his shoulders with all the stuff he was doing for all the cancer patients. It's much easier to cop to drugs if it's just your small world your effecting but much more difficult if you created what Lance created. It's hard for people from the outside to understand unless you are a pro cyclist competing for the top spot. Cycling is a dirty sport and anyone who pretends it isn't is high on there own drugs. Lance was the best for those years, a extremely talented guy who at 15 years old was racing the top Triathletes and keeping up..... I surely don't believe he was taking anything besides canned peaches and water back then....
jeff stoner Ok, so your argument is that Lance had a larger weight on his shoulders. Not really. He was making at least 10 to 100 times as much as the rest of the peloton, who were just domestiques. I'd say those guys who doped to the gills to be able to shelter Lance on brutally long stages took a lot more punishment. Lance knew he could quit at any time and have hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank at any time, unlike the other slugs. Actually, he had the least pressure of all. His only pressure was just trying to make more millions. Big deal.
Lance has the perfect genetics for cycling, in Bicycling Mag they interviewed his trainer in the wind tunnel and he said, Lance has a natural hump on his back that allows the air to flow by him like a knife through butter, The hump is visible and very obvious in most or ALL of the TT (Time Trial) races for the skeptics, check it out, theres no cheating its straight up Nature, it what he was built to do...theres no doubt about it. You have to grow up and face it, LANCE is the best!!
Lance has a low hematercrit, hence Erythropoietin has a stronger effect on him. He also had money, all elites do but not as much as he did. He had the ability to bride the UCI and he did. Others didn't have that ability. Transfusions. Lance has huge veins which make doing a transfusion easier and also easier to cover up. There was no level playing field.
I know more about cycling and sport than the average joe. I watch it all. I read it all. Lance was my hero, but I have still problems seeing the fact that one man can have the talent to beat the worlds best drugs. You doesnt think its weird?
Lance got caught... and how many others who were racing the tour those years didn't get caught and still have there prize and head held high in the eyes of the public? So its wrong when u get caught and it's ok if you don't....? These guys have been taking this stuff for years and will continue to do so at that level. Lance won the those tours no matter how you see it.... "caught or not caught" is the question, and not "you did or did not".
+jeff stoner The only reason Ulrich agrees that lance won, is that his past isjust as checkered as Armstrong's and he knows that if he says anything against Lance, its not going to turn out well for him. I'm sure he and Lance talked it all over and figured out that his other options would only leave him more exposed and totally covered in shi*.
I had cancer and 2 surgeries and I was put on to Live strong. Live strong is an integral componant to cancer survival but heres a question. For the last 30-40 years Cancer research has raised and spent over a billion dollars a year for cancer research but where are all the cures. Many causes of cancer and cures have been patented by entities such as the Rockerfeller foundation.
Lance has always had a fairly stout looking midsection, but I'm thinking it's due to a large liver due to increased demand and storage of glycogen. But surely he will also try to trim down to minimal weight for the Tour as usual.
@u368 average lifespan of an erythrocyte is 120 days (4 months) so insufficient rebuilding in the course of 3 weeks can't be the cause...the only other option would be increased breakdown which should be mirrored by increased blood/urine biliary pigments..anyway, if you say it is a known fact i'll keep it in mind..i was just wondering if you would know the mechanism behind this
Never stops does it .. Lance doesn't, has never, and will never use drugs what is so hard to understand ?? Yes, it is insanely amazing and almost unbelievable that he fought cancer and came back to win the TDF 7 times but believe it because it all came with perseverance and training training training and NO DRUGS
@hghepo typically, young riders do not do very well in long races such as the tour de france. Usually they cant climb as well as riders in their mid twenties and beyond. the longer a cyclist rides, the more efficient he becomes. His lung capacity, and lung efficiency strengthen, different types of muscle that take long periods to develop grow. He completely changed his training from day races to mountains. (young riders can make good money competing in a lot of day races). Lance changed his style
in all of lance's winning years, all the guys who actually had a chance of winning the TDF doped. I have little doubt in my mind that Lance doped too. If none of them ever doped (including Lance), he would have won also. Im sure he would love to say that, but the public could never really grasp that. He recognizes this and is a precarious position, and can't backdown from his past proclimations. That is why people loathe him. I honestly feel bad for him, he deserved every tour he won.
@u368 really?..i did not know that...what would be the mechanism behind drop of the hematocrit during TdF? but again, i don't have access to Lance's medical record (do you?) but 42% seems to be extremely low for a top endurance athlete...if I am not mistaken, my highest hematocrit was 51, i was in my teens and never took anything, don't even think there was any artificial EPO available in those days..that is, of course, irrelevant, only those 42% don't sound right
@hghepo by the way, im not saying he didnt dope. I'm pretty sure he did.. But your explanation of Lance's progression looks like something you heard from someone who didn't know what they were talking about. Also, in his younger years, he was a team player, he wasnt even trying to win the TDF, he was a packhorse, and a team player. As he aged and proved he was a great rider, lance was told to dope(like all of the major contenders). he then beat all the other dopers for 7 years straight.
Did I hear correctly? An LT power of 425W with a ceiling of 450W? Man! I recently had an LT test done. My power at LT is 250W but then I'm a weekend warrior. Hey just 200 more watts to go!
Not only that - His real love "Livestrong" has been taken away from him - there is alot of pain and sorrow in those eyes, and as an ex-Cancer/Tumour patient I know what he has (is) going through. I just don't understand how society can be so judgemental of someone who has had such a raw deal (healthwise) thrown at him - through no fault of his own, and was from a single parent family. Its wrong, so wrong. All I have to say!
Lance was blamed for something that the whole elite cyclists were doing.... it is a shame that he had to take the fall. EPO etc.. have been around for endurance athletes for decades, and was an unspoken part of being part of elite endurance athlete. I think that he is a great athlete, and he should have been able to keep his title and winnings!!! If they blamed him then they should have taken medals and winnings from other athletes who participated in EPO etc.....
I thought that my I had missed my opportunity to run next to Lance (for a second or two) on L'Alpe-d'Huez!!! But it looks like I can keep hope alive! Now all I have to do is get bikini-ready! Yes! The Tour de Lance rides again!
Ok, now, I have a question, is there any high performance athlethe that DOES NOT take any type of exogenous enhancer??, I mean, IMHO, all of them do, the only difference is whos doctor is smarter and has him clean for the time of the doping test.
Just look what difference EPO made for Floyd Landis in the 2006 tour. On one day he got dropped and lost 8 minutes and the next he crushed everyone when he was juiced up and took the yellow jersey quickly after. This proves that its a matter of the drugs and the proper application of the program, since we know he was on them when he lost 8 min and when he gained it back. So its a matter of perfecting the cheating by drug use that makes all the difference.
+CLK50000 Its not a matter of "Perfecting The Cheating" its a matter of Perfecting the Playing Level. If you lynch 1 you have to lynch all, every rider, and every bureaucrat in the TDF and every other cycling event that all knew, profited, and went along with the culture.
+benwoo This is where you are wrong. Justice in an imperfect world simply never works like that. Everyone is not equally accountable, because there are so many levels involved. It's always the top cheats that people get the most angry at, not the simple wage earner, who made money off of the bike business who might have suspected Lance was doping, but who wasn't in any position to prove it or do anything about it. Your argument is more than silly. Law enforcement always tries to target the kingpins, like Lance and show leniency to those like Hincapie and other US Postal riders who cooperated with Federal investigators. You certainly don't have to "lynch" everybody. This is just Lance's argument, that he holes will take the heat off of him, but its nothing but like a child pointing to another and saying "mama, he did it too". That's idiotic as a legal excuse for an adult in a court of law.
+CLK50000 : no, he lost 8' when he was only on EPO (and probably some other undetectable drugs). He crushed everyone when he took testosterone, which was stupid, because it's detectable for decades, and took a too great dose. But he was so used to pass controls with usual drugs, that he felt under a sense of impunity and forgot he could be taken if he would take some others. Drugs for cyclists isn't only EPO.
Exactly,to quote the great Jacques Anquetil "only a fool would imagine it was possible to ride Bordeaux-Paris on just water". Pro cyclists are talented just like pro baseball, soccer and football players but your kidding your self if you dont realize even this level of talent needs some assistance.
i thought that lactate wasn't that bad for endurance athletes cause it can be converted back into ATP and used again? I'm simply curious! why am i wrong??
Kenocort cortisone (triamcinolone) on july 4, 1999. :) Oh but that corticoid was for his saddle sores. Even though any steroid will make a bacterial infection even worse!
+Paul Cummins And his natural hematocit was well below the average, which allowed Armstrong to abuse EPO even more (than others), and thus receive more benefit from it. This wipes out the "level playing field" argument, he's been pushing.
@hellsadore first of all i would like to say hi. As noticed you know pretty much about cycling, so why we cant see you out there showing the guys how to do it. Or teaching someone who can beat the guys in the peleton. If Lance ever doped, it would't help him much. Without training and talent you cant do basically anything. So I think if he doped it was just for recuperation and didnt had too much effect.
Its amazing that Lance hasn't sued the pants off anyone on youtube for the libel comments people make against him because not one of you can prove he's guilty of what you are charging him! Its a witchhunt!
The whole cycling community suckered us. Seeing that they haven't (as of this post) awarded medals to others because others were doing the same thing. He was cheating but so were most of his competitors.
@mathewpeterlee they testified against him because they were all on drugs, but he got the best results and is one of the most famous cyclists without earning it
people need to shut up about him supposedly doping. the man has raised millions for cancer and giving millions of people with it hope. doping or not that should be enough
yeh you have a point there, but it also gives the younger riders a change. And the guys being kicked out.. nothing to do with lance. Or wait, it has, they all wanna be as good as him. So theyre all started using stupid drugs nd stuff. Now there is no real favourite, so its more exciting then before, I think. but if u want to see a one-mans tour, thats fine by me, just not my idea of an exciting tour :- )
people say lance armstrongs one of the fittest athletes of all time,i laugh at them people pro boxer manny pacquiao would run circles around lance pacquiaos like 33 years old but looks 12.
if you look at the facts certain things are clear.
1. armstrong took epo in 1999.
2. thereafter he probably didn't take eop but only transfused on the second rest stage which is the only explanation for his extraordianry blood values in the third week of the tour.

Could any of these commentors who bash Lance appreciate the hard work and dedication all pro cyclists have for their sport?
Lance is a good Athelete and deserves to win.
Lalith Moorjani, Piscataway, New Jersey
As well as a report released in 2004 regarding results from 2000 in L'Equipe, when they developed a test for EPO
we love you Lance.
All of your videos are pure inspiration for my life!
thank you.

That's Kevin Livingston, former teammate to Lance. Livingston moved to Telekom later, where his pro career ended.
Couldn't agree more!! I know first hand what chemo does to you - my Father had it. He lost the battle 2 years ago after a heroic 10 year battle.
Not only the best rider, but an even better doper. Excellence by all measures.
Lance got caught... and how many others who were racing the tour those years didn't get caught and still have there prize and head held high in the eyes of the public? I'm sure he and Lance talked it all over and figured out that his other options would only leave him more exposed and totally covered in shi*.
@@profchaos9001 He won fair and square
I'll throw in the 6 epo positives too since you'd need a turit 1/10000 the size of a needle head to falsely spike those samples with epo.
@jonnybravo8 Pure talent, drive and ability. Those will always win in the end...
@u368 Must have been great being there on every Tour Lance won to witness the doping??
LMAO!
When I first saw 1:01, I couldn't help but wonder what Lance was wearing.
heart rate monitor, a key piece of data for this test
Lance has always had a fairly stout looking midsection, but I'm thinking it's due to a large liver due to increased demand and storage of glycogen. But surely he will also try to trim down to minimal weight for the Tour as usual.
i heard armstrong may be creating his own team with the schlecks. that would be awesome!

Fail
@u368 Lets be honest, even at a young age Lance showed incredible athleticism, lets be honest.. who says any other competitor is cleaner?

Results from 2008 were published in 2010
doped or not he es the BEST get use to it . lance is the best in my book .
Was Lance high on EPO and blood transfusions for the making of this video?
@u368 so no idea why the drop of hematocrit during a big stage race?
@u368 really?..i did not know that...what would be the mechanism behind drop of the hematocrit during TdF?

What about Cori Cycle? Wouldnt the lactate be converted back to glucose?
where is the part with the needle???
I thought Lance and Livingstone (as Phil calls him) didn't get along anymore?
wots with the thing around his chest is it a monitor or sumthing
he could loose a bit, Lance weighed around 159 at the last tour?
i like how the guy poking his finger at the beginning is wearing Hincapie clothes and not Livestrong. haha!
@nschroeder21 Heart rate monitor. it measures the heart rate of the rider at any time.
I thought that my I had missed my opportunity to run next to Lance (for a second or two) on L'Alpe-d'Huez!!! But it looks like I can keep hope alive! Now all I have to do is get bikini-ready! Yes! The Tour de Lance rides again!
Did they say he had about 450 watts?
and without evidence your idea will only remain a hypothesis
@jonnybravo8 - easy to explain...he if gifted AND always had the much better team. Without the teams , he doesn't win.
does anyone know if george hincapie is still mad at lance after last years tour????
Ok, now, I have a question, is there any high performance athlethe that DOES NOT take any type of exogenous enhancer??, I mean, IMHO, all of them do, the only difference is whos doctor is smarter and has him clean for the time of the doping test.

is lactate threshold the same as the anerobic threshold?
After a blood transfusion and some 02 carriers like Actovegin... If Lance was taken in March randomely he'd struggle to hold 370 watts for 45 minutes.
so how do i get my body to use fat for fuel?
i thought that lactate wasn't that bad for endurance athletes cause it can be converted back into ATP and used again? I'm simply curious! why am i wrong??
Kenocort cortisone (triamcinolone) on july 4, 1999. :)
Oh but that corticoid was for his saddle sores. Even though any steroid will make a bacterial infection even worse!
what is that strap he is wearing around his core
Whatever about the scandal of doping, I just watched this to check out lactate testing. Anyone got any infor on his Vo2 to correlate?
His VO 2 was 87. Greg Lemonds was 92.
So I think if he doped it was just for recuperation and didnt had too much effect.
old school taking it from the finger tip like a diabetic test. It's the ear they clip you now
How do you know he doped?
as the name of that song?
Well all of them are taking it. Now they are jealous with Lance because he won so many times. Others are taking it but still lag behind.
Its amazing that Lance hasn't sued the pants off anyone on youtube for the libel comments people make against him because not one of you can prove he's guilty of what you are charging him! Its a witchhunt!
take the EPO yourself and win the half of races this men did
DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW CAN WE MEASURE LACTATE CONCENTRATION IN BLOOD SAMPLES? (cheap way)
Do you believe it's true now?
The whole cycling community suckered us. Seeing that they haven't (as of this post) awarded medals to others because others were doing the same thing. He was cheating but so were most of his competitors.
OMG HE SAID SIBERIA AT THE START :O
@mathewpeterlee
they testified against him because they were all on drugs, but he got the best results and is one of the most famous cyclists without earning it
Not only did Lance cheat but he ruined lives of anyone who told the truth about him.
Can someone answer me how lance beat all those who used drugs?
This is THE truth, but people don't like it!! They just envied, that's all..
hey lance do you like T V ?
And now?
livestrong
@lillylienxo If you are clean why should you work with a doped doctor like Ferrari?
Well, he's just machine....
I can do 340 watts for a couple of minutes.
He does 450 for 3/4 of an hour.
Can't wait for the Tour De Lance!! The race was boring after he left and of course everyone got busted for roids.
@u368 what do you men by "48% hematocrit at the end of TDF is IMPOSSIBLE for a clean athlete" ...48% is perfectly normal for a non-athlete male
Haha Kevin Livingston in a sweater of George Hincapie!
@nschroeder21 : heart rate monitor wireless senzor
people need to shut up about him supposedly doping. the man has raised millions for cancer and giving millions of people with it hope. doping or not that should be enough
no the amazing part is that He beat the best talents other than himself, and all of them were using drugs.
He is blamed not only for doping (like the rest of cyclist as you say) but for making a doping mafia in his team...
i like the hincapie shirt
yeh you have a point there, but it also gives the younger riders a change. And the guys being kicked out.. nothing to do with lance. Or wait, it has, they all wanna be as good as him. So theyre all started using stupid drugs nd stuff.
Now there is no real favourite, so its more exciting then before, I think. but if u want to see a one-mans tour, thats fine by me, just not my idea of an exciting tour :- )
un modèle !
Look! It’s a pumpkin eater on a bike!
people say lance armstrongs one of the fittest athletes of all time,i laugh at them people pro boxer manny pacquiao would run circles around lance pacquiaos like 33 years old but looks 12.
kingdaleclarke don't be silly...
