    • @OGimouse1
      @OGimouse1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      I honestly wonder how much of this has to do with the divide between people who have or don't have an internal monologue.
      People with an internal monologue can keep the vacuousness of space filled just existing, and sometimes they need it to stop so they can't be alone with their thoughts at times so they need absolute garbage that isn't substantive to stave off the thoughts. There's a mindfulness to no content because the only thing you have to worry about is keeping a lack of content going and you have the comfort of knowing that's the definition of the internet and 99% of social media.
      People without an internal monologue don't have that problem. They can just...stop thinking. They're in that meditative state already.

    • @junktown5139
      @junktown5139 3 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      @@OGimouse1 Naahh it's much probably dopamine induced viciousness. Internal monologues (or any type of internal conversation really) may actually prevent the person from liking something, since they have more of a way to analyse and critique it. In essence you're more prone to thinking about what you watched.

    • @OGimouse1
      @OGimouse1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@toastshine Yo, you haven't heard this? Apparently, there are people who just stop...thinking. It's just their natural state. There's no little voice inside that tells you all the weird possibilities during a movie. There's no slideshow between concepts while you read. They turn off the TV or stop watching a movie and can just...move on to the next topic instead of their thoughts just going on their own tangent like the nerves in your elbow when you thwack it on the table. TL;DR: it's about practicing mindfulness and meditation but I don't think either are really possible to get to that state outside of those sessions if that's not your natural state.
      That's the purpose behind doing meditation and practicing mindfulness. That you slowly work towards just *not*. Mindfulness being that you are only going to focus on the thing in front of you (like doing dishes but not thinking about how the lazy alcoholic doesn't help or contribute, or how much food got thrown away because you didn't put it away while everyone else in the house screwed around, or the bills, or your job, or how much sleep you're looking forward to getting to tonight after you finish the rest of your homework and actual work and, maybe, all the other cleaning while you wind down for the evening since no one else did it, etc. etc.). Meditation being that you're purposefully engaging in doing nothing and just letting thoughts flow through you without you perseverating on anything so that you're just releasing the tension without engaging in it.
      Like, IDK how people just have this as a natural state. I will say it's really freaking hard for me to do and not something I can fully achieve, even after trying to get there after 15 years. I used to sometimes be able to achieve mindfulness while working or beading but it wouldn't last long, especially if I realized it while it was going on. I can't even go a whole video without a stream of consciousness commentary because I can't just be *here* lol.
      And I definitely have never had the situation where I can have successful meditation. There's literally always something that is going to break in to me trying to settle in--someone watching something on the TV or their phone (because there's no such thing as anyone trying to be understanding when you're trying to do any of this, like how people offer you a sandwich when they find out you're gluten free), or a pet, or a phone call, or a text, or the fact it's the workday, or the mail, or or or or or--something always intrudes in within the first 5 minutes of me trying to do it. Fifteen years I've been trying to meditate and I've never been able to successfully nail down a time of day when I can have 5 minutes of quiet to practice meditation. Like not to brag, but I've even been up late trying to relax for bed and because there's gunshots everynight within a mile of where I live I'm pretty good at guessing what random time that's going to be happening, too.
      It's not an ADD or ADHD thing, either (I do not have a diagnosis for either), it's just that your mind starts and then it waits to be unconscious. I'd really like to know if there are any studies on the duality of those and dreaming, because I also have insanely vivid dreams every night in full color and just...hours of it. I used to try to keep a dream journal but I'd be writing it out for (sometimes several) hours.

They may be okay with you writing what you think is their favorite food or even writing a crackfic joking about some of this stuff, but may be wildly uncomfortable with actual shipping content, and to know if they're okay with that BEFORE they could potentially be made uncomfortable/hurt by that content would be to ask every single time. “I’m an elderly man.” Aging is a full existential crisis, isn’t it? Did every other generation throughout history have the same feeling as their body betrays them and they can’t relate to youth culture? Or is it just the internet that really shows us that we are, almost physically, being dragged away from our youth? …I think I need to bring this up to my therapist. 😂

    • @atomichearts9332
      @atomichearts9332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I’m going to be 20 in a few months and I feel fucking middle aged most of the time. My back constantly aches and I’m hypermobile so my joints crack and pop frequently even if I’ve been moving around. Of course, trauma aged me mentally a lot too, I’d say.
      It’s so strange, it feels like (at least in my experience) as soon as you graduate highschool and you’re 18, adulthood is immediate and unavoidable. In the nearly 2 years since I’ve been out, almost every aspect of my life has changed.
      Sorry for the kinda serious reply to this 😅 Your comment is good for starting a dialogue, though. Can’t speak for other countries, but in America it feels like a good childhood is fleeting and hard to come by; and there’s this expectation to grow up so fast that is pushed by many government institutions and has become a social norm.

    I would just like to quickly state that I did not write the Yandere Jordan fanfiction, despite having a yandere sideblog on Tumblr and despite having called Jordan a yandere in the comment section of one of your previous videos. I promise, it wasn't me. 🤣

      @TheAmityElf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@mcwjes I didn't do it! But searching the "jordan adika" Tumblr tag and filtering for recent posts rather than top posts seems to do the trick. Looks like there's a Yandere Jarvis thing in there, too. MY most recent post about Jordan was from when he started posting on this channel, and it was just me saying I was glad he started posting, lol. (Granted, my sideblog has a different username, but you just gotta believe me on this, okay! 🤣I don't write fanfic of real people, unless I know them personally and they're cool with it.)

    The way I'm watching this just because Jordan is so handsome and funny, despite the fact that I'm actually incapable of enduring cringe content without wishing for death. Just wave after wave of new reasons to beg for the end. I've had to pause this maybe 27 times just to gather myself. It's paused right now as I type this for just that reason. Shallowness beats out self-respect once again...
