I hope this doesn’t sound insensitive, but I’m a bit relieve that Jackie passed away a few years before her son. If she had lived to see this plant crash, it would’ve destroyed her, especially since she spent years shielding her children and trying to give them a normal life after she lost her husband. Jackie was a strong resilient woman, but she endured too much in her life. She would’ve been able to bear the news that her own son was killed.
I feel you speak the truth for all Americans. It would have been more killing for Jackie than cancer. President Kennedy would have been proud of Jackie's parenting because Caroline and John grew into good people because of Jackie's guidance. She was an excellent mother and First Lady.
i can't imagine being comfortable piloting a plane and not being instrument trained, whether flying in the daytime or at night but especially at night. he should not have made that flight without a trained person beside him. he got a late start after working all day and just had his cast removed the day before. if only they'd got a good nights rest and headed out early the next morning, the outcome probably would have been much different💔💔💔

He had no business flying at night over water. Spatial disorientation is a killer. He was not instrument rated. The sky and water had no decipherable horizon. The combination killed them. No conspiracy here.
John should have never been allowed to take off considering the weather...he wasn't instrument certified and had no business flying in the dark of night...he only was licensed to fly during daylight hours because if his rating...if it would have been anyone else they would have never been allowed to take off from that airport...but given the fact he was JFK Jr. He was allowed to take off...they know pretty much it was pilot error....I the kind of the conditions he was flying in he needed to be instrument certified and he wasn't....

at 1.38 he talks about how MV control tower was never contacted by the approaching flight.. we now know that the reason for this is that JFKjr, arriving late to the flight and hastily preparing for it w/o adequately going thru the pre-flight checklist; had the radio frequency set wrong, so when he approached MV he could not contact them, now they were lost in the dark, over water, panick set in and the plane crashed into the water. an aircraft isn't a rental car where you just arrive late, jump in and take off to your destination.. you have to complete the check-list 100% w/o error.

Depends on the radios of the aircraft, but most aircraft VHF comm radios have an active and a standby. It's likely the would have the ground freq set in active and the tower/CTAF in standby...would switch active to the tower as he was taking the runway which would place the ground freq in standby. He'd then have to switch the standby to the "next" frequency for whatever he was using...departure, center, TRACON, whatever. He'd have to switch the next frequency while flying. Just an operations note.

JFK jr. was late 3 hrs because his wife went shopping. The conditions wouldn’t of been as bad if they left when they were suppose to. It was one small thing like a domino affect. None, I believe. It should be filed every time..
No flight plan is required to be filed with the FAA when flying VFR unless crossing a ADIZ, a DEWIZ, or international air spacr.
