Love this. Actually useful information information that can be incorporated into any player's gameplay. The major issue with watching gameplay is that if you don't realize all of these intentional things that are being done by high level players. Thats where having a translator like yourself is incredibly potent. Not only breaking down the gameplay in a way that can be understood and imitated by any level of player, but also bringing up concepts and ideas that someone may not even realize are things to keep in mind, like the 'keep your eyes on the scoreboard to see who has the numbers, keep in mind where your teammates are to predict where your enemy will spawn and be ready and waiting for them, and when moving from section A to B, what is the best way to get there (which block to curbslide and such). Overall, I can't think of anything a player could do for 20 minutes that would improve their gameplay more than watching a video like this. Love the breakdown Shyway, and I will watch every single video like that that you do.

One thing that really helped my aim back in the day was learning when to disengage from those medium to long range battles when you start missing shots. If I miss a shot or two after being descoped I’m going to try and play my life at that point. Losing gun fights can affect your confidence. Also I’m a lot more patient with my shots, I’m not just firing them off as fast as it will let me because I’d rather land all of my shots slower than miss one in between and throw my rhythm off. I usually shoot about 60% but have been in the 70s quite a few times
70% is damn high. Nice job man 👍 got any other tips? I've improved a ton at shooting by slowing down and going for body more and headshor as the last couple shots 🔫
@@zerocal76 another thing I like to do is keep my reticule on the area I think the enemy will be. So if there’s something blocking my view but I know the enemy is there I keep my reticule right exactly where I think they are so when I jump out i don’t have to do much adjustment to my aim. Also think of your movement and strafe. If you’re hitting your shots but getting 5d every time then you are probably being too predictable with your strafe. Try left left right , longer or shorter strafes. Your strafe doesn’t have to match up with your shots. I sometimes just run straight at someone because they don’t expect that and usually will miss their second shot.
@@IRoYaILTY Very cool, hadn't thought about left-left-right strafe. Thanks. Can u tell me what 5D is? lol I've been out of the lingo since Halo 3 days meng 🥴
I love this. A lot of this stuff becomes sort of second nature. I'm nowhere near as talented as the guys on top, but being able to understand the games mechanics and how the psychology of your opponent comes into play, it's easy to be top of the kill feed.
I like that you make long informative video's on how to get better in comp. Is it maybe possible for you to make a video on learning spawns on all the Halo comp maps? Like you did here: th-cam.com/video/k03GA7-dnK0/w-d-xo.html. But then for all the maps. It doesn't have to be a 30 minute video. Just a: If you are here and your teammates are here, the enemy will most likely spawn here and here. I'm mostly guessing these enormous areas on the opposite site of where I and my teammates are. But if we are scattered for some reason I have absolutely no idea where the enemy will spawn and that gives me a disadvantage.
Man, watching this as a big shooter player but bad Halo player I’m seeing my biggest gripes with Halo highlighted here: 1. Short respawns on small maps - theres very little time after a kill to take a breath as a team and regroup. Getting a sense of the respawn timers and mechanics will help you stay safe after a 1v1 and not get immediately rushed. So there’s a weird flow of advantage/disadvantage to Halo not found in other shooters. 2. Team shooting - there are basically no opportunities to out-skill a single opponent in an even 1v1, since the TTK is so long and aim assist ensures nearly every shot hits. Whoever hits the first shot wins. Knowing when to take fights with your team or just run away to burn down respawn timers is an important skill too. Just run around with 1 other teammate at all times and take every fight as a 2v1 where possible. 3. Sound (or lack of it) - any other skill based tactical shooter in the world makes use of footsteps or sound queues to keep track of people around the player. Halo missed the memo on this, presumably because it was built for people playing on TVs without headsets and no directional audio. Even in this ranked mode with no minimap, not once did we mention sound in a gameplay analysis of a top player. Wild. Trying to improve cause my brother plays a lot, but man shooter skills from battlefield or R6s are just not translating. I can hit shots all day, just feels like I’m fighting the game and it’s mechanics more than other players.
@@brotherdon6439 I didn't know that. Just because I said something similar to a navy seal mantra doesn't mean I made a mistake. Just because my bedroom has a "live laugh fuck" poster doesn't mean I don't know that "live laugh love" is a jo-ann fabrics mantra.
I still need to know how they get their reticle to look like that without increasing FOV to 120. Their reticle seems to have the small center parts spread open and the outside circle seems to be smaller. How do they do this??
Okay so the HUD Opacity effects the reticle opacity as well so play wit that & both reticle outline opacity & thickness. I didn’t know HUD opacity effected reticle @ all but, it does.

Can’t take it serious when you say 3x world champ. Anything after H3 ended its run is a joke. Reach got dropped by MLG. A sign of how bad Bungie’s failed attempt at making Halo mainstream was. You see a few people online trying to get classic Halo game tournaments going. There’s a reason. These mainstream movement and aim systems are not what make halo good. It’s the opposite. Sprinting allows bad players to get away with doing bad plays. You can’t sprint in H1-3. So going into a bad position really taught you quickly what bad plays were. You learned very quick it’s not about how good you are alone, but how good you are working within a team. Strong communication and timely decisions were key in Halo. Now it’s more about flash and style. But it has little foundation to stand on. Watch Lucid play games on his YT. He barely speaks. If he does it’s about the state of Halo or something non gameplay related. Can’t take this generation of Halo, by extension its competitive history and its pro players, seriously.
Solo que w/o comms is pretty normal in Halo Ranked - but Lucid is also good enough to not need it. He understands the game well enough to fulfill his role as a teammate and carry the lobby without comms. But if you watch them compete on optic, communication, teamplay & timing is everything. The industry has evolved quite a bit since the mlg days - being a esports pro is a legitimate, sought after career. I'd argue Halo, and games overall today are more competitive than ever.
