    that's one of the best aspects about her voice they sound so natural and not forced they just compliment the song

  • @ThatSingerReactions
    @ThatSingerReactions 8 ปีที่แล้ว +579

    That grit in her voice is what separates her from the rest in my opinion it's very gospel it's called growls and squalls (when sustained) that's what makes her voice very funky and soulful some of the things she does is very Arethaish

      I agree but Beyonce should NEVER be mentioned in the same sentence as Aretha.

    • @edwardwheeler197
      @edwardwheeler197 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Aretha destroys EVERYONE. The mother of the modern day voice.
      The rest are just doing their greatest Aretha impressions.

    • @edwardwheeler197
      @edwardwheeler197 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you for clarifying the squall. Never thought of it as a sustained growl
      Aretha brought the squall into pop music.

      Edward Wheeler Um excuse me but Beyoncé can be put in the same sentence as Aretha Because she is also a powerhouse vocalist as well. And if anything Beyoncé has way better vocal technique than Aretha.

  • @wiscovirgo

    I think because her speaking voice is naturally deep and husky, it's so easy and effortless for her growl when singing. her raspy range is so amazing. her growls aren't forced either. It's so natural and smooth sounding yet so powerful at the same time. I love it. and I love that her voice has sounded so healthy for the last 17 years. she doesn't over do it and takes good care of her chords.

    Hopefully one day I'll get an answer as to how she does that,I've been told it's just like saying vroom like an engine sound but her growl sounds more distorted then that and also I feel like I need to use "r" to make that sound in the back of my mouth anyways I'm sure that's not the way but what is,if I over compress the voice it hurts so that's another no no and if I try to go scremo type wish like an h sound it just sounds like a different type of distortion so I'm not sure what's there to explore more..

    • @LiTim17
      @LiTim17 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You’re likely actually using the throat muscles and closing the back of your throat while also moving your larynx in order to produce the distortion, instead you need to learn how to manage the AIR FLOW instead. Very important that you practice false cord distortion if you’re gonna try to growl as extensively as she does. Practice manipulating the airflow upward instead of constricting the throat. You shouldn’t feel any tensing in the throat neither should you lose tonal quality.

      Conker32192 no it's not the term growl or drive is when you use hyper glottal compression this sound is NOT from your throat! It's from the diaphragm

    • @edwardwheeler197

      +Drake Reid growl and drive are NOT the same thing.
      what beyonce is doing is correct and is a growl.
      drive is not the same.

    It makes me really sad that she doesn't release a gospel album or a ballad album, and instead currently jumps on the mumble rap bandwagon.

      When has she EVER done mumble rap? If she raps, it’s very clear what she is saying. And she doesn’t even do it that much.

      AnTonRivers she's usually dancing for two hours with dozens of lights on her and it gets really hot on stage, so she has fans.

      wwemj213 No. She's said many times that she has a fan because it's hot on the stage. Her hair blowing wasn't the initial intention of having fans.

      And you are known or famous for what exactly!?! Lol!
      In the words of BLAKE SHELTON…”Neva understood how those who don’t contribute to music has anything negative or positive to say about it…and if I were Beyoncé’…I would tell them to kiss my a**”!!!…LMAO! Gotta Love Blake Shelton and you know you don’t have to click on the video and watch it ALREADY knowing you “never liked” it in the 1st place…at least that’s what I do. Just saying…or continue to “waste” your time on watching the things you don’t like just to post that you never liked it but still decide to listen and watch the video anyways…!? A little contradicting, but prime example for my kids to learn what it is to SAY ONE-THING but their actions being the opposite! Thanks for the example…I guess 😊…😂

      Who growls on a LIGHT vowel MID phrase? Beyonce. Who growls at the very top of her belting range with ease? Beyonce. Who growls while doing riffs? Beyonce. Who growls with vibrato? Beyonce. She's able to do all this CONSISTENTLY since 1997 to present. You can't tell me it's not healthy. The girls you mentioned have literally killer growls- they kill their own throats lmao
