    This 3-part video was SO helpful as I made a bench cushion cover for a friend. I loved how "real" you were as you offered tips and learnings in the moment. My cover was a pleasure to make because of the confidence you gave me, and, it turned out beautifully. Thank you Busy Bee Mom.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I made some jumbo cord cushion covers with zips and piping for our campervan conversion (with inner liners) and without your 3 videos I’m not sure I ever could’ve managed it!! Many people have complimented me on them! I don’t know how old the video’s are, but they’ll be useful for ever more!!!

    Your tutorial was awesome, you walked me through all the steps and the custom cushion I made for my son’s kitchen bench came out absolutely perfect! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

    This was by far the simplest zipper video I have watched. It made complete sense to me. Although it does have some extra steps compared to the other videos I've watched it seems much easier. My to do listt is much bigger than my beginning sewing ability but I think I can totally do the chair I want to recover!

    I like this video because you tackled a looooooong piece of fabric, and it was messy, and you included comments about things not going perfectly all of the time! Big thumbs up!

    Thank you - I wouldn't have thought to sew on the right side to avoid any puckering! Looking forward to producing a beautiful cushion for my new window seat.

    The zipper tutorial makes sense and makes a zipper look doable. I need to make some cushions for my motorhome dinette seats as what is there makes my bottom sore, but the dog goes with me so washable is good.

    When you're ready to sew the zipper in a good way to avoid the bulk of the slider is to start with the zipper open a few inches sew down to it, bury the needle, raise your presser foot zip the slider back up past where you have already sewn (out of your way), lower your foot and sew on! Thanks for the video, I'm going to put your techniques to good use!

    great video, never realised you could sew zip in with fabric machine tacked, brilliant! 2 suggestions offered, one is, you don't need to cut teeth back, most machines can sew over NYLON or PLASTIC teeth, (not metal!) or can be eased over, other suggestion, you could have shortened the tacking stitch to normal length for last inch or so, then wouldn't need to stitch separately later? really enjoyed it, will try it stitched shut next time I'm zipping, thanks

    I don't think I have ever sewn Minky dot but I know what it is. Hmmm tough question, any time I'm working with impossible fabric I use a walking foot. This helps keep it from shifting, especially when sewing two different types of fabric together. You can also try basting it first. Basting is where you pre-stitch it either by hand or with large stitches in the machine. Then if it looks good sew it with a regular stitch. This way it's easier to pull out your stitches and try again. Good Luck!

    It doesn't matter. Either a seam ripper or a scissors with a small pointy tip. If you used a wide stitch length they should come out fairly easy.

  • @TheBusyBeeSews
    @TheBusyBeeSews  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good Luck! I have sometimes found that "quick and easy" methods skip steps that shouldn't have been skipped, resulting in a sloppy finished product. Although I haven't watched any other zipper videos : )

    Wouldn't it have been easier to sew it with the zipper side up, to take the guess work out?

  • @frauCccp

    You skipped the part I was most insecure about,. The stitches you made to put the two panels together. Did you use a seam ripper? Scissors? I'm so lost....

    Your tutorials have been LIFE SAVERS for me as I started a cushion project! Do you have any tips for working with Minky Dot fabric? My cushion is very similar to your pew cushion (with zipper) except that the top and bottom pieces are cotton and the band around the perimeter is minky, piped along both edges of course. I'm tearing my hair out due to corners that aren't square and now I'm so sorry I agreed to take on this project :(

    I ran into a problem after trying to attempt a basting stitch (I'm a beginner). When describing it, you used the word "wide" when describing the stitch, when I think you meant "long". I changed the width of my stitch, which changed the position of my needle without me realizing it, so my seam allowance was no longer 1 inch :(. I will go back and change the length of my stitch, and hopefully my two pieces will match up this time. (and the stitch will be easier to remove)

    • @TheBusyBeeSews
      @TheBusyBeeSews  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dana Lubovich sorry for the confusion. The basting stitch is a straight stitch, when using a strait stitch you should be able to set how close or far apart the stitches are. For basting set it so the stitches are as long as possible.
