Ordered this for my helmet mount and it works great! Instead of it sticking straight up in the air it was much better to have it closer and not be as susceptible to tree branches hitting it. I wear it snowmobiling, and unfortunately I did hit something and it broke. So I’m back ordering another.

awesome simple idea, a simple extension around the bottom should help take the weight off the L bracket and thumbscrew. Still being minimalistic or a separate piece that clips onto the L bracket at the top, being like a C bracket holding up the center
just a suggestion (but i know you have thought of this, but if not then here it is) if it wiggles on the side because the wight is not centered then you should put an extra material on the other side to balance the weight out (like the scale in the law, or seesaw). over all such an innovative product, ride safe~

Mount is sold on Ali made from aluminium. Just bought one for X4 to use on a helmet when traveling faster on my motorcycle. Hard to tell how the footage will look, I guess the stitching will not be perfect, but getting my head not blown by the camera in counter-wind will be worth it I think.
Could you still chose in different frame formats in single lens mode? If you want one movie in 9:16 and 16:9 for example. Of do you need to film in 360 then, using this mount?
Seems like it need some support still that puts alot of pressure on that screw with all that weight. Instead of a L bracket just make it a U bracket where the camera can slide in to add support and stability. Keep the holder holes in the same spot! I would love to test one out for myself! Blessings

Help. How do I record in landscape in 2.7k or 1080p at 60fps? It records at 16:9 which is actually 9:16 on the horizontal mount and when I change it to 9:16 it then records in landscape however it is limited to 30fps

Now, how do slide that thing out to your side in similar condition so a person can get better skiing shots to critique ourselves with?! Needs a counter balance of some kind. I dont like the above head level shots but more close to chest or shoulder level, slightly in front of me and off to the side a bit. I also like to capture my family skiing all around me. I havent found a good solution yet except to stuff in my backpack at a weird angle and hope it doesn’t fall down.

I’m not familiar with that camera but intrigued now. I have the older chesty GoPro strap and the older GoPro Session “Square cube” mini camera. The way that mounts, is upside down and sticks out. Plus that cam has almost zero stabilization as seen on my rigid SS hardtail videos lol.
Yea action cameras have come such a long way in just the past few years. That session is cool though, and I think they’re bringing back a new version of it

Question, I prefer using the camera w/ quick capture 'on'. when I hit QC to begin recording. The camera doesn't automatically default to the 4k 9:16 horizontal setting that I desire. I have a 'quick menu' RIDING saved and checked off. so it will record but appears to default to the 360 5k setting and won't automatically reorient to the horizontal either. do you know how to remedy this? Edit: In other words I want to use like a GoPro Session (I use my Hero 8 like this as well) Saves battery.
Any chance of making this in metal? Had one break on me while trying to use on the back of a motorcycle. Snapped off around where the thumb screw is. Loved the product. Just wish there was something stronger for the intended use.
It’s a good thought, but the mnfr costs go up significantly. I’ve thought about injection molding, but the startup cost is high too. Perhaps if enough people request it, we can do a run of a metal version

Just bought it few days back and tested it on rough trails. So far good and nicely designed. Can’t use the 4k single lens action view mode (no 9x16 aspect ratio) but I’m good with other FOV. Not sure about the durability though.
Nice! I’m using ABS to print now, so it should stand up to the elements a bit better, but yea, it’s certainly a low-cost option. I haven’t heard of anyone’s breaking yet, but I’d be happy to hear other feedback

I need to verify, but our mount should work for the X4 because we use a slotted thumb screw, so you can adjust the position of the camera in the slot. I'll verify and update the web store if it's compatible.

A simple Velcro strap could take the weight off the mounting screw and I love the design. This would be perfect for my wife's fish adventures.

Could be a good idea to extend the mount on the other side like a J hook to hold that free hanging end. For extreme conditions and/or peace of mind ;)
Thought about it, but some ppl like to rotate the camera with respect to the mount. Maybe in a revision I can do something like that

I would try doing this same mount but with the camera upright. It is more complicated but also yields better results.

That rear lens looks dangerously close to scraping against the chest mount metal. Any chance of scratching? Hard to tell from this angle.
There's a significant gap if you set the angle right. Also, chest mounts are mostly all plastic.
