That fact that @ONGBAL doesn't choose to 1) initiate the Mikiri counter, thus falling for the bait, and 2) perfectly deflects the followups proves that he's unlearning the old code and subsequently adapting to the new. It is proof that he is THE true Shinobi.

As much as I love this cinematic boss fights I'd like to say that this is possible because of how great this game is. I hope that the next FromSoftware's game will use a Sekiro formula again. Not going to devalue their work but I really don't think that they have made anything better than this. It's not just a game, It's a work of art.
I've had Sekiro sitting in my library for a while, but I was hesitant to touch it, despite beating Dark Souls 1-3, Elden Ring, and playing a fair few of From's older titles like Tenchu, Otogi, and the Armored Core series. Watching your vids convinced me to start playing it, and I'm enjoying it a good deal. Thank you for helping me overcome my hesitation.
Interesting note here, isshins sword is made from steel that come from the Middle East, crucible (Damascus) steel, it’s much stronger and more flexible than tamahagane.

Jumping on him would cause the boss to be "stunned" (that is, makes them vulnerable to a deathblow) for a longer period of time. This allows the player to use an item during that small window of time.
