Thanks, Bill and Andy for a lovely trip to Dawlish. The "then and now"s were interesting. Always good to look at places in days gone by and Andy's local knowledge adds that little bit extra. The waterfowl look to be doing well. What a devoted Mum Kimba is! Hope all goes well with the hatching of the eggs and the cygnets after that. 😀
Thanks for showing us around Dawlish and thanks to you and Andy to show us the ducks and swans and the market as well as the shops thanks to you and Andy
The Bristol Re was a fantastic tool & I can still smell the interior trim , never drove one because of the lack of power steering, we used to have an old bus driver’s saying “Strong in the arm and weak in the head “ when it came to driving the older stuff without power steering, I think I contested for both .
@andybyrne50 living breathing machines. Im just about old enough to remember veichles with no power steering I learnt to drive legit of course lol . in my dad's mk2 golf gti no power steering and a heavy car I'd imagine the busses would have felt like that. Did you also have crash gearboxes andy. I'd love ❤️ to see the 60s and 70s again rover p5b. Jenson interceptor are my two 😍 from that period. I have always had a soft spot for the austin maxi aswell don't laugh 😂
Hello Bill lovely visit to Dawlish nice to see you and Andy together again . Hi Bill, the dynamic duo walk the streets of Dawlish once again. I remember The Exeter Inn, but it was called The Laffin Pig at some point in the late 90s. Lovely then and nows and it's always great to see the wild fowl. See you tomorrow mate. 👍👍👍
The laffin pig was what is the Gresham now . The Exeter closed its doors in 2016 as the Exeter inn and was always that . The laffin pig changed its name in 2011 to the Gresham
Hello Bill love going to Dawlish and its good to hear Andy back to full health. Great then and nows, didnt realise Woolworth was there, yet im sure i must have seen it, i miss Woolworth. We used to go in the White Heart when we stayed at The Gay Court, there was a room at the back were children could go and we made friends with another family , my son wrote to them for a long time. Swans and wildlife looking good, fingers crossed for Kimbas eggs 🥚. Hope Mom enjoyed her cake it looked good see you tomorrow Carol
Hey Bill lovely video and some great then and nows. Thankyou Bill and Andy. Hope you are feeling well now Andy. The book shop up beach street was owned and run by railway author and photographer Colin Marsden. Often went in there to chat with him and had a great selection of railway books. Assume he no longer lives in the area as the book shop long gone. Always good to see an old pic of a Western on the Devon coast even though Geoffrey sees one every Monday when he volunteers at Williton on the WSR but he is currently working on one of their Hymeks.
Andys having trouble posting to youtube at the moment, buyt he says: "Yes , i know him well and have filmed trains at station and enjoyed a pint with him at the Marine . He still lives in Dawlish and I spoke to him the other day, he’s semi retired now and doesn’t do his main stream publications, although he still pens the odd books for Ian Allen"
We have a harmless way with dealing him now, Bill shields the birds we are feeding and I throw the food in front of them , it’s quite funny, but it works well
Lovely old photos of dawlish & D1041 western prince is still with us today, she is in preservation on the East Lancs Railway at Bury, Great videos as usual Bill 👍
@@andybyrne50 Yes Andy, me & my wife are members of the WLA at Severn Valley, i used to watch the Hydraulics in the 60s & 70s & we both come to Teignmouth every year-Love it🙂
@@robinbursnell9730yes, I’ve been a member of the society for a few years now , sadly the Severn valley has suffered a serious collapse on one of the embankments, I hope they soon get it sorted. Roger the chairman lives in Dawlish.
Bill your description of the old station would of done🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you chaps for your explorations. Wow I have never seen the eagle above that door way!!!!!! I remember me and a pal went into the white hart many years ago and got chatting to a couple of gents and we got on to the subject about when Muse played at Teignmouth and it could be heared in Dawlish clear as day! Any news of the petiton I signed in the sweet shop regarding the brook being dredged?
Yes, it would have 'done' but a lot less interesting! 😂😂😂 I'd never noticed the Eagle either! & I can remember the day that Muse played too 👍 Andy will hopefully chime in, on the petition / brook status! Cheers Shane 👍👍👍
Andys having trouble posting atm, but he said " the petition is still be discussed at to which is the best way to proceed. As I said yesterday 80 volunteers are getting trained to keep the bank sorted and last night I noticed some new lighting "
