You are such a great TH-camr. I'm a dedicated watcher even though guess what (?) I'm allergic to wool & dogs and have circulation issues so I can't enjoy the cold . . . but you make my day, every episode! Vicarious experiences FTW. Lots of love and appreciation, PLM xox
I just got STONER out at the library and I’m excited to start it!
I so love your stories of your life and what it’s like on Svalbard. You’re my favorite on TH-cam!!
When I start to look at any of your videos, I eagerly expect when will you say "I love this season" and it happens in every single season. 🥰But love your exciting videos made in darkness.
😊❤ I'm in 🇺🇸 🌎 I would love to travel there for mini vacation 😍
I love how Christopher confirms that it's very cold out while calmly standing outside in his t-shirt. 😆
Viking shenanigans
😂
Made me laugh, he is so adorable 😂
He is so casual and laid back compared to Cecilia... Yin and Yang, so compliment one another ❤
Me too ❤ Love Christoffer’s calmness , always calm , never riled ♥️👌
“This is something we get to experience, not just endure” I so appreciate your perspectives and enjoyment of life and the time of life/year/season you’re in. So well said and proves every experience is worth while when we choose the right view.
I'm so happy to hear that resonates with you 😍😊
Right! This I could posisibly like to experience but if it was like always 90 degrees I would have to tolerate and endure that
@@CeciliaBlomdahlI love cold weather and the still quiet of winter (my late mother was from Montreal so it's in my blood, I guess 🥶❄️). I definitely get the Svalbard vibe. Thank you for sharing your enchanted life with us. ❄️💙🌌
@@CeciliaBlomdahl Truly, we can learn a lot from you Cecilia! 😊❤
@@Shakodancer16 90 isn't that bad. I live in Texas. It got up to 110 this past summer. It's usually 90's+ from May/June-October here.
You get used to it. We have A/C and lots of pools. I love to swim, so I spend a lot of summer by the pool. It's wonderful!
When it's 90, I can still go on walks. It's hot, but bearable. Once it gets into triple digits is really when it feels like you're ensuring 😂. Especially since we have a humid heat here vs a dry heat.
Dry heat feels totally different. When you're in the shade with a nice breeze you can handle it. But a humid heat just feels suffocating. Like the air is made out of pea soup 😂. But again that's more in the triple digits. Low 90's is hot, but bearable.
The positives is that it’s so peacefully quiet. Staying there during polar night would be ideal for someone wanting to focus on writing a book, creating music, art, etc.
I would love to experience this. The absolute peace and quiet because of the dark and snow is utter perfection.
Yes me too. I love peace and quietness of the night.
Me too. It would have to be a solo, my son will not be able to take it. I can!!!
Lack of Vitamin D would depressed me and im a hikki. Maybe if i had a special seasonal depression lightbulb.
Me too 😂
Don't worry, the darkness is coming.
Your videos have helped me to start appreciating our Canadian winter. It gets dark around 4:30 PM, but that is nothing compared to your polar night! I used to dread winter...but seeing your love of the snow, the Arctic, and the cold...has made me try to reframe my view and I think this will be my best winter ever. Thank you so much for your videos and happy personality.
Awww that makes me SO HAPPY! 😍
She really puts things into a positive light doesn't she - Hi from fellow Canadian who enjoys her videos too !!!
I’m in Wisconsin, and the 4:30pm darkness can hit hard. I’m also now working overnights, so I sleep when it’s daylight and awake when it’s dark. I had to get one of those daylight therapy lamps.
@@mom-ys9sb Totally! It really gives a different outlook on life in the snow! I love her youthful joy about the cold, the dark, and the snow. I find myself walking out onto my deck in the morning with my coffee, and just taking in the fresh air, the woods around me and the beauty of the wintery landscape here. I am in Quebec and we already have snow. albeit not a lot ...YET. lol.
@@theresamnsota3925 I have a "happy light" too. I was actually using it today. I wonder if @CeciliaBlomdahl uses one? They are great! It is much needed in northern climates when the angle of the sun is so low and when the days start to get shorter. I consider this "candle season" and time for "Hygge".
I appreciate the clip of the globe spinning to show how polar night happens!
Polar night videos always help me deal with seasonal depression. Seeing Svalbard embrace the darkness gives me inspiration to make the most of the light that we do still get in the winter and to stay active in the early darkness as well. Thank you, Cecilia!
Same. I live in interior AK where it gets very, very dark in the winter. In December and early January, there is zero true daylight. We get like 2 hours of gray, then night again. 😢 Hang in there and take your Vitamin D3 with whole milk. I'm taking 4,800IU atm.

I just discovered your videos, and I’m obsessed! I’m in the process of binge watching them all. It’s a rainy day in the middle of England today and your videos are so cozy. I’d love to see the Northern Lights, it’s on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing your amazing content 👏👏xx
I don't know if you'll ever see this I hope you do but, I struggle with bipolar disorder and having discovered your channel fairly recently about six or seven months ago and watching your perspective on the darkness and how to handle each season has completely changed my outlook on you know winter cuz where I live it gets starts getting dark about 3:00 4:00 and instead of getting depressed and getting stoned you know I actually am starting to get excited from watching your videos and learning to have a different mindset going into it so I just wanted to say thank you i really do❤ with love from Lauren in Michigan
I do hope she sees this and responds to you. I would think she would love knowing she is touching lives. 🙏🏼🫶🏼 And I do understand what you are saying, I'm a Michigander also😂
@@titisings2413 I hope so too🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 because she truly has touched my heart and changed my outlook on the darkness and learning to lean into it and love it instead of dreading it 🙂
I did wonder, watching these if Cecilia has ever used or considered using the special lightbulbs/boxes made fir people with SAD? As she's mentioned about having to take Vitamin D supplements because of polar nights.
@@sapphire22011 you're meaning seasonal affective disorder right? If so I'm not sure but that's an incredibly smart idea 💡 to get special lights that mimic natural sunlight because that's part of what makes me so sad this time of year and I'd definitely buy them from her and Grimm and Christoffer
@@laurensanford8629 yes seasonal affective disorder is exactly what I mean. If u suffer from this u can either ask ur doctor about them or Google companies that supply them. They are pretty effective. My cousin sufferers from SAD quite badly and she's complicated by fact her Vitamin D levels are really low and supplements no use to her as she can't absorb nutrients very well as she had a section of her bowels removed years ago and she goes low on several nutrients. You also need to watch ur own diet - my vit D was down to only 11% and only picked up in routine bloods last year. They have no idea why it may be a family trait but I'm now on the right supplements
Cecilia, your joy of life is contagious and you made me love winter and dark. I run cold and used to hate anything cold, wet, and dark. Watching Svalbard and you, I find peace and warmth in my winters. I even enjoy that winter is getting colder and I’m enjoying the coziness I’m feeling, thanks to you.
Same for me too! Our winters are definitely not as cold and dark as Cecilia’s so it puts things into perspective.
Same thing happened with me!
Me too!
I look at winter differently since I began watching your videos. Thank you for making me appreciate it more ❤
I love winter but no the super short days in the UK. I can’t go for runs after work because it’s dark and I don’t feel safe.
Hey Cecilia, just wanted to say that I’m really looking forward to your polar night videos this year! I’ve been around for the last 2 polar nights, and watching your videos during polar night in particular has become almost a ritual I have to keep cozy during the long Canadian winters. I love your videos in general, but the atmosphere you capture on Svalbard during the polar night is amazing. Seems so calm, cozy and peaceful. I can say now that one of the things I look forward to during the winter is seeing the videos you put out. Thank you for taking the time to share your life with all of us!
I just love how after living the polar nights for many years now, you are still bewildered by it. This shows how much you like it and how beautiful your soul is ❤
Grim booking flights to Finland had me rolling!!!
Can't wait to go thru another polar night virtually thru your videos! :) This makes #4 for me!
Marianna
hahah we had so much fun filming it as well 😂 Grim in his little outfit at the end, SO CUTE haha Thank you Marianna! 🧡
I bought lots of string lights and decorated for winter early this year because I was inspired by you! You’ve taught me to lean into the winter and embrace the coziness ❤
That is awesome! 😍
I love Cecilia's cabin and design aesthetic, and cozy lights. I'm moving into a new apartment next month and I am decorating it minimalist/Scandi - "VERY Cecilia!!" 💙 I've been to Denmark and Sweden - and LOVED IT - but never to Norway. I actually found out, to my surprise, that I have 1% Swedish blood of which I am SO proud! 🇸🇪
Yeah you can take this time to really learn about you what your likes and dislikes are and take care of yourself you know what I'm saying take care of you you matter
I got lights, too, because of Cecilia!
Same! String lights make everything so much better.
I love that Cecilia, choosing to have the perspective of experiencing something rather than “enduring it”. We could all apply that to many things in life.
Your continued enthusiasm for the cold and dark has made me get my backside in gear and embrace the cold here in the UK. Looking forward to the cosy polar night season. 😍❄️❤️⛄️
You find the brightest souls in the darkest places
I love your attitude
Be the light 😊❤
I know a million people have said it, but we love and thank you, Chris, and Grim! ♥️♥️♥️ videos! You find joy in everything !! We all should put more of this in our lives.
I loved how you did this, Cecilia! This was a great eay to show the absolute darkness all day and night! I started watching you last year during polar darkness! It was sooo eye opening for me! I love your nails too! ( :
The thought of experiencing the snow and cold alongside the darkness then going back home to that wonderful cabin and it's wood fire sounds glorious
I think Grim should have his own segment for all of the sponsors 😍 in Minnesota it is starting to shift to the winter and honestly I’d rather have the cold and snow than the 90+ degree (Fahrenheit) summers with 70%+ humidity. You show everyone how to love the cold ❤
Totally agree about Grim! Also a Minnesotan here 👋! I somewhat agree as long as there’s no wind with the cold temps! (I know how Minnesotan that sounds 😂!)
same here weve been getting FAR too many 90s in the summer. we got like 20 of them this year when around 5 years ago we got like 5-10. like i mean seriously its bullshit
I love how you two appreciate all the changing seasons there, no matter how cold it gets.
I found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching you ever since! It’s such a calm relaxing vibe, like ASMR for my brain, your storytelling, filming, music, everything! And also now my life dream is a cabin in Svalbard😆❤️
I just found your channel and I am entranced by the magical beauty of Svalbard! I live in California, U.S. and was starting to feel a little depressed about the colder weather. But no more! I am in awe of your ability to thrive. I am impressed! 💞
Hello Cecilia! I just started following you like an hour ago and to my surprise this new video popped up! I love the Polar Nights and the Northern Lights! Thank you for sharing it all with us!❤
Watching it snow in the light where I am and watching you cavort around in the dark makes me appreciate the light we get. Enjoy the Polar night and thank you for sharing!
Cecilia, I love your videos and your perspective towards life is amazing. I stay in Canada and its winter and I always feel the seasonal blue but because of you I am starting to like winter and make the most of it by being cozy and warm and just not making it into a big deal. You have no idea how helpful you are to so many people. Thank you so much. Much love ❤
*Put Your Head on South side of Earth, This thing is Writeen in indian Religion book since 4000 Years,, Bcoz North pole Slowly Bring your Blood to your Head If your head on North during sleep position*
My husband and I enjoy watching your videos before bed. So cozy and comforting to a couple of nature lovers from Texas. Thank you for opening up your world and way of life to those of us who can only dream 😊
'It is something we get to experience rather than have to endure' I love that outlook and I feel like it can be applied to so many situations! Love your enthusiasm for the polar night. I struggle with the short daylight hours in northern England (feels like polar night on a workday when I don't see the daylight 😅), nevermind actual polar night!
Svalbard can never be fully dark with your joy shining so brightly! You are a ray pure our sunshine. Thank you for making my day! You are amazing
Thank you so much for being in Svalbard and bringing us these videos!!! Grim is beautiful as ever!!!! Look forward to more videos!!!
Ohmygosh, love your video. It's the first I've seen and I'll be watching them all.
Peace and quiet is something I need & I've always loved the dark and the dead of night hours. Thx for sharing
Cecilia, I am a new subscriber. Thank you for letting us into your everyday life. Svalbard is beautiful during the polar nights. Grim is the cutest! Love your videos, look forward to next week's video.
I've been looking forward to your polar night all year, I am living vicariously through your positivity lol - living in Canada it is very cold and dark here too (not as dark as there!) but you make me appreciate it so much more. Everyone posts videos of palm trees and beaches, but you make me appreciate our natural climate!! Happy to be here for another polar night 💖
Cecilia! Thank you so much for introducing me to the Throne of Glass series! I am ADDICTED! On book 3 right now, but book 4 is waiting in the wings! Looking forward to hearing what your next series will be! Happy Polar Night!
Videos like these make me thankful for youtube and creators like you, and internet. (Not a book reader) I would never learn that there's such a place like this on Earth. I'm from a very tropical country and I wish to experience this. On a lighter note, I can't imagine how much sunscreen I get to save during polar nights. 😂❤
I'm from Brazil and it's really hot in here so it's lovely to see some cold weather and how people adapt to live in those different temperatures.
Love your videos ❤❤
It is wild, and I love that you share your experiences of polar night. It’s wonderful.
Ok, I just want to say that I am so thankful I found your channel. Love your videos, thank you for sharing and being so sweet, funny, and real. Love you guys ❤
I feel happy seeing you embrace the darkness with its peaceful vibes. Svalbard is asleep and hibernating but at the same time, very alive and vibrant in its own way. Now, the gray and gloom of winter seems less sad to me.
Wow! Your happiness is so contagious that I would like to leave for the Svalbard islands immediately. I love the cold weather, the winter season and the shortest days, because everything is calmer. Grim is truly a treasure and you and Christoffer are so nice. Thank you, the video was absolutely fantastic.
Hi Cecilia, your videos about polar night are so inviting that I came here to experience it for myself… here I am teleworking from Longyearbyen for three weeks! And it is as magical as you say. Thank you for the great content. Nik.
Hello from Singapore! A sunny island all year round. I’m definitely in awe. Thanks for sharing this video!
Christopher is just an amazing human being so humble and polite. You both are actually💌
Simply love your videos, your enthusiasm, your beautiful family of three! I could watch a video every day, always! Such an inspiration! Thank you guys so much for letting us experience the Polar night with you!
It's amazing how I can see and have a little glimpse of how life is in different parts of the world in my own home. Thank you for sharing your a bit of your life with us Cecilia ❤
I love your enthusiasm for the dark season. I live in a VERY mild part of the world, the earliest the sun sets in winter is like 5pm, yet people here still complain. And I do get it, it's more common to be affected by the dark, but personally I love it. It's cozy. Thanks for another great video!
Beautiful video Cecilia ❤❤ the village looks so pretty in the dark with all the lights on from the houses
Gives a festive feeling 😜.
Have a good week🥰
Hi Cecilia, could you please show us the sledding dogs and how they live during the winter, how busy they get with commercial sledding, how they sleep, their diet, etc if you haven't done so in the past?
Yes! I just left a comment asking her to take us on a field trip with her to the dog yard!
It is so cool to see how living in the place of one's dream makes you happy every day, how you are able to appreciate this wonderful nature, and then I see why so many people love watching your videos. It would be wonderful if all of us could live in such a place with such a positive impact on our spirit and mind. 🙌
One of the best vidoes I've seen that shows us exactly what livving in darkness means.
So glad to hear you love the darkness, I've always said I prefer longer nights because I feel more at peace but everyone thinks I am mad
Chris is like the meh emoji nothing phases him. I couldn’t live in darkness for 4 months. Kudos to you for being so positive & optimistic
I love watching your videos, especially the Polar Night ones. The village does look like a pretty Christmas card. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love winter weather, and get a ton of energy in the fall and winter. I think I'd cherish 2 months of time in the house for projects and wood fires and hot coffee. I'd throw a lot of dinner parties with friends, declutter the house, read all the books, watch great movies with my hubby (among other things ;) ) I think I'm probably romanticizing this experience but it just sounds so nice to have the opportunity to calm....and when the light comes back how wonderful it would be to rev back up for adventures after a good long rest. I think that's the fascination and adoration with where you live Cecilia. 💕
This is my second polar nights season with you. Love the coizyness. Can't wait to your Christmas decorations and Christoffer's food ❤❤❤
Yay I’m early! We just got our first snow yesterday here in Kansas and I just love watching your videos! They are so comfy and soothing to watch. ❤
This is by far the coziest channel on TH-cam. Thank you Cecilia, Christoffer and Grim!
Thanks for all of your videos.I may never get that far north, but I really enjoy learning about that fascinating land!
Your videography just gets better and better. Looking forward to your Christmas videos! 😊 Love from Melbourne Australia, where we are roughly twice as close to the equator as Svalbard. We're a few weeks away from the summer solstice and on daylight savings, so it's not completely dark until around 8.15-8.30.
I also love the peaceful darkness either day or night. I love the quietness…and seeing things that seems to be miracles. Cool place.
Hi Cecilia, It is almost 5 pm in Montreal and pitch dark, and it got dark around 4 pm in the afternoon today, and only (4c). We've lost about 4.5 hours of daylight already. We put our tree up and decorated it yesterday !!
You have the most calm, relaxing videos. My favorite way to unwind❤️
Thank you Cecilia, Christopher, and Grimm for the hygge and joy.🥰
Thank goodness, it's Sunday afternoon..I look forward so much to my weekly holiday to svalbard. Thank you guys! 🇬🇧
I would ADORE to be able to experience the island during polar night. Coming from a tropical island where our winter is spent in beaches and our Christmas is spent under 85-90 degree weather, and since I was a little girl I’ve dreamt of seeing the Northern Lights, ever since I found your channel I’ve fallen in love with how magical it seems to be. I hope some day I’ll be able to live that experience, it would be a dream. Extremely enjoy your videos. Much love 🫶🏼
Same, I will love to experience this.
Thank you, Cecilia. So good to learn about the polar night. The lights made the snow and cabins look beautiful. The Christmas trees lit to decorate the town centre took my attention. I congratulate you for being out on the deck without jackets❄I wouldn't last more than seconds😁🙂(Grim looks great in sunglasses😘)
Thank you for sharing your life with us. I love the dark and quiet of polar night….as Christopher say…you can do nothing. I wish we all had a chance to chill like this and you certainly celebrate each day
Hi Cecillia, I am a new subscriber and I just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoy watching your videos. You are so talented, your cinematography, and the drone footage you have is truly some of the best I have seen on the internet! You have such an artistic and creative way of showing us stories of your home and life. My husband really likes to see what Christopher is up to as well. They are very much alike, my husband is always repairing something or tinkering with some project and he enjoys boating and cooking as well. We live in Savannah Georgia USA. Our lives are very different, yet when I watch your videos I feel as if you are both kindred spirits. We especially love the videos with dear Grim. I believe Grim is one of the cutest dogs ever! He adores you both, you can really see it in his eyes. :). I hope you have a wonderful Polar Night season and get to do all the cozy things you look forward too. Have a wonderful day ahead.
Chris seems like a man that just knows how to chill
You've made me miss the north so much!! Here in the southern USA the winter is such an energetic time of year for me because it's finally cool enough to go outside! Which, with so many places around where I am, a big city, not allowing hikers after dark, makes the extra darkness frustrating. I hope someday I can visit a place with polar night for a while and settle into that long darkness
I watched the whole video.
The thing I loved the most about the video is how you love to be there. I loved to see your happiness. Best wishes for you.
Thank you Cecila, for bring us some Polar Nights magic.
✨
My Sundays are always complete when a new Cecilia video comes out! Thank you for continuing to bring us all into your life. Your optimism is contagious and I always feel happier when I am done watching. I just love how much you love life on Svalbard ❤
Another great video, love your enthusiasm and your spirit I can’t stop smiling while watching you stop and I love how cool Christopher is thanks
I am a thorough bred New Yorker. I have no idea how I found your channel but I am so happy I did. Wow!!! So cozy, relaxing, and peaceful!
Cecilia you make our Sundays magical! ✨ Love from Idaho. 😘
You're the best!
That is something that people who don’t live in an area where snow falls can understand. How a good snowfall causes a quietness to settle over the land. I love it when the snow muffles all the sound.
i think the polar night would be quite a fun experience. i live far enough north that the days get really short and it's hard, but what makes it hard is a) it also rains all the time and that makes it extra dark (compared to snow) and b) i don't feel safe going on walks and such when it's not light out so i end up getting cabin fever (since by the time i'm off work it's dark). but having the freedom to wander and explore and be cozy sounds just fantastic~
I appreciate the fact that you film yourself going to the cabin... and then sneak back behind the scenes to bring in the camera as well.
New subscriber here. Your videos help me realize that happiness is largely a choice. Your joy is contagious. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Cecilia I love that we get too share the polar nights with you it's my favourite time of year to spend with you ,love from and old g follower ,my best part is the northern lights I'm from the UK and North get a glimps now and again if we lucky but I live in the Midlands so have never experienced them ❤
Cecilia you are by far the best videographer on you tube. Thanks for sharing such unusual experiences with the rest of us. I’m in California and couldn’t survive cold weather. I’m vicariously living through your beautiful videos. 🐋🌧️❄️☃️🌙🌎
It's the first time i am watching your video and loving it already. A totally new experience i never saw before. Thank you very much for sharing it with us
Christoffer in his short sleeves, reminds me of us🇨🇦
Mild wet is never as enjoyable as cold dry.
Grim is such a good boy.
Thanks for sharing ❄️
You help make me appreciate Winter again....I would like to try Polar night at least once!!! Your contagious Cecilia, I love it!!! Your nails look beautiful.
I'm so glad! 😍
Thank you Cecelia, your videos are very comforting. I live on an island as well, in the middle of an ocean!
Greetings from the West Coast of India where the ☀️ shines pretty much 365 days of the year! Which is why I love watching your channel. It's like being transported to a winter wonderland. Love seeing Grim and mountain man Chris in a tshirt in -6 degrees (that's insane)! The footage of home and all your trips on the boat and snowmobile using the drone are beautiful with very apt background scores. See you next Sunday and hopefully some Northern lights if the weather is clear❤
I am a night owl, living mostly at night, but I tried the baby polar nights in Tromso (Svalbard is next level), I got crazy after one month :D. So Cecilia I am impressed by you :D
All.your comments resonate with me Cecilia.....I love watching your life with Christoffer and Grim. COSY! ❤
I was in Svalbard last February. It was everything. I loved every minute of it
The village in polar night looks stunning
So cozy and inviting.
I Love your videos, they are so relaxing, fun to see. Also, very informative. Thank you ❤
Thank you so much! 😍
I think this is so awesome to watch, how other people live in different parts of the world and how they do things on a day to day. My son and I actually have Svalbard weather on our phones.
Thank you Cecilia, Christoffer and Grim!😀
For some introvert person like me, this is heaven😍😍 I like cold and dark places 😍😍 I just subscribed to your channel. more contents like this 👌🏼👌🏼
I would love to experience polar night for two years -- one to figure it out and the next to savor it like you, Cecilia.
I absolutely love and enjoy your personality! You have the perfect explanation of how it is there! I love your video of life there! Thank you for making, talking to us and sharing !!! You make it seem awesome !!! 🩷
Meanwhile, here on the other side of planet earth, our community outdoor pool has just opened for the season and I am enjoying swimming both there and in the 15c harbour sea water as we start warming up for summer! I love the thought of you there in your cosy pjs and fire and those pretty village lights. Thanks Cecilia Christoffer and Grimm.
