- Hi Everyone! It's been a beautiful spring. We've enjoyed the mild weather so much. The new cocktail gin begonia border is filling in and soon will look full. The Carding Mill rose is in full bloom. The variegated hydrangeas are beginning to form buds, and soon will be full of color. Thank you for stopping by! :)

Greeting's from Ireland, Great video and Beautiful front garden. My wife has no interest in gardening and has told me the small front garden looks like a mini garden centre. We have fifty eight pots and four flower bed's in it. We have a bigger back garden with grass for the dog's to play in, a glasshouse and no dig veg bed's. I tell my wife that gardening for me is my church it's where I heal my hurts.

I just found your lovely channel. I watch gardening videos in the morning with my coffee before I head out to do my gardening. What a lovely treat to find such an authentic channel with such a beautiful garden. I love that you focus on being who you are and acknowledging that a garden is a space to learn and grow and find peace during hard times. I think we all fall down that rabbit hole of hiding the garden imperfections but I am slowly learning the the imperfections are just reminders that we are just caretakers and not controllers.

What a beautiful garden you have! You keep it immaculately! The most amazing birdsong...obviously the trees host and encourage them to stay in your area! I couldn't identify the birdsong though, as I live in England and we obviously have different birds here. So peaceful!

Wow, beautiful garden. You obviously work very hard at it and have invested in all those beautiful shrubs and plants. I know it is a pain when trees shed their leaves, but so glad you are not planning to cut them down. We need more trees.
Thank you.😊 Since we bought the house over 20 years ago, we’ve had to take down 2 mature trees that were diseased. Then we had the Chinese pistache fall down years ago. Each time those trees had to come out, I was sad. They provide so much shade.🌳

Love that you want to keep the trees, so many people cut everything down or remove, and it seems such a waste of our natural shade. It takes so long to grow something to replace them. Love your yard.
Thank you for saying that. We just cannot cut perfectly good trees down. You’re absolutely right. Our neighborhood was built in the 70’s. Many of our friends live in newer homes and they do not have mature trees.🌳 😊

First time viewer. Love your bed lines. Very pretty. I too ,would not cut down trees for solar. Trees are everything. A big mess, but worth it. Sunshine ligustrum is one of my favorites for the pop of color. BTW... I am so jealous of your gorgeous hair!!!!! I am 73 and the older I get the thinner and finer mine gets. The struggle is real!

Great question. Most days I spend from 3-5 hours a day. Sometimes more if my husband is home and we’re working together. Then there are days I can only spend 1/2-1 hour a day if I have appointments. 🌸🌿

I always had the thought that California's weather was more mild. That the low 80's was probably the high for the day and it was cool at night... We live in Texas where its 100 degrees or more for the high and in the high 80's at night... I enjoyed your garden tour.

WOW, your magazine worthy garden absolutely takes my breath away! So many splendid colors, shades of green, spectacular roses, perfect placement of everything.....I could go on and on! Your begonias and African daises REALLY grabbed my attention. I'm wondering if you could tell me about how much shade the African daisies get versus sunshine. I've never grown them, but after seeing yours I cannot stop thinking about them!! We live in Zone 9 in Houston, Tx.

Hi Linda 👋 Thank you so much for the kind words.😊 The African daisies receive full sun from mid-morning on. They do not disappoint if you have hot summers. Does Texas have humidity? Our heat is dry. Half of the dianthus border receives morning sun and the other half receives afternoon sun. The entire border performs well. The daisies I purchased from a local nursery. The dianthus is from Home Depot. 🌸🌿

I have noticed in my garden, that the a Japanese beetles go after the light coloured roses. I have pink roses too and the beetles are all over them but don’t touch my dark coloured roses. Your garden is beautiful.
Thank you.😊 Yes, I’ve been reading about them and they are attracted to the light pink roses. One of our local nurseries will be hosting a David Austin Rose event and I’m thinking about going. Maybe one of their representatives can give me some advice. 🤞
You choice of boulder and pavers and leaving the dirt to show makes the flowerbeds really stand out. Quite the contrast against the bright flowers. Thanks for the ideas!! I’m zone 5 so a lot of these will be in my yard this year!!

Hello Carolyn from Georgia!👋 I live in Fresno, Ca, zone 9. We are about 1 hour from Yosemite. No deer, just lots of squirrels and opossums. We have seen a fox in our yard before.

I've just discovered your channel and I cannot get enough. binging on your beautiful yard. I left a garden somewhat like yours and starting over in Florida...ugh...it's HOT here and I'm in a zone 9...humid and I have a rainy season and hurricanes but you are giving me great ideas!! Also I love your encouragement to try things and hit the clearance rack...
Thank you for such a nice compliment.😊 I’ve not had to deal with humidity or hurricanes. I can’t imagine. I’ve read that Florida has more of the fine sand beaches, which sounds beautiful. I’ve embraced clearance plants for two reasons. You can take a risk on a plant without a large price tag as well as picking up plants you have experience with for a fraction of the cost.🙌

Wow, your flower beds are gorgeous!! I just love them, I live in Illinois and I know very well about Japanese Beetles!! I had quite a few Douglas Austin Roses, and the beetles came and destroyed them, I finally got rid of the roses, then we cut down a Linden tree in our front yard because it only looked good in May and June, the beetles would come and eat all of the leaves and it would look dead all summer! Seven will kill the beetles but, it will also kill hummingbirds so I didn't want to use that on my flowers. Good Luck, can't wait to see your flowers later this summer!

I feel your pain. I have 3 maple trees…so leaves plus helicopters to clean before I can do my Spring planting.
I probably wouldn’t recommend a camphor tree to anyone unless they have a large property where they make a screen. Ugh…. The mess😩🤣. They do provide great shade.🌳 Have a wonderful Spring!😊🌸

A possible solution to your mulch issue could be "mulch glue." It has solved a similar problem under our pin oak tree. It drops, profusely, twice a year. 😮 just a thought!

They do look messy but I leave them there and just brush them off my plants.We get very hot here in Summer so I love the shade. Beautifully kept garden. Roses are gorgeous! One thing that I have noticed in most gardening videos is as beautiful as they are it's never mentioned what state they're located. They are inspirational but unfortunately, some of the plants shown don't do well in our locale ( south Texas).
Thank you.😊 I agree with you. I can’t remember if I said where I live.🤦♀️ I live in Fresno, California, zone 9. Our summers can begin as early as May and last till October. During the height of summer, we don’t cool down at night. It is discouraging when I see a zone 9 gardener speak about how great an annual or perennial performs only for it to struggle where I live. It’s taken me a long time to figure out that whatever I plant needs to be able to tolerate our evening heat. Thank you so much for watching.😊

Gorgeous garden! Your plants are so pretty. So neat and tidy, I wish mine was. Dianthus grow like crazy here too. I have to cut them back some when the blooms turn ugly, and they pop back. Zone 7 here.

OMG!! The freakin’ Hoplia Beetles! I’m pluck-n-dunkin’ em, today. So gross. I bought some long tweezer/tongs to pluck em.
My iceberg roses are decimated, but at least they lure them away and keeps them off of my more delicate bloomers.
Isn’t it frustrating?! 😔 I am determined to not let it get the best of me. 😊
With my maple trees and the helicopters, I also had to stop mulching. I am trying to utilize ground cover instead 😮
I’ve considered that as well. I just might do that in a small area this season. 🌿

I have the same problem with leaves on my Pin Oak tree. The leaves don't fall until the new leaves start to push out in the Spring so my black mulch is a mess.

I'm so excited that I found your channel. I've owned my home for a few years and have only planted a couple azaleas last spring and several knockout roses the year I closed on my home. Both are look amazing and full now. Your channel has made me want to dig out a larger garden bed in front of the roses and add more perennials. Wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your labor of love, because Lord we all know how much work goes into digging just one hole. Exhausting and rewarding!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. As to the dreaded Japanese beetles 😡🤬 they start off as underground grubs. Then the little so and so’s emerge as beetles. They are attracted to light color flowers. They love roses, peonies, clematis, and other light colored flowers. One trick is to set out white buckets with a few inches of water and place them around the flowers and plants that the little buggers are attacked to. Tho I stopped doing this trick because we have little lizards in our gardens and they will climb in to the buckets of water to get the beetles and last year two drowned because they could not get out 🥺
Thank you for all that information. It’s so frustrating when the blooms emerge so beautiful, and within a few days they look terrible. I understand regarding the lizards. We have many in our back garden and I don’t want them harmed. 😊
