  • This week, we're going to keep it sweet and simple. We worked on a couple of quilts from Jeanne Horton's Traveler line of fabric and it's kind of crazy how different they turned out. Both are really good beginner projects ( Traveler's Crossroads is a super great project for new quilters!) and the colors of the quilts are nice and subtle. Very earth tones, but the fabrics are absolutely gorgeous!
Hope you all had a great Easter and we'll see you next week
PS - We're extending our sale on the rotary cutter blades (2 pk 45mm and 1 pk 60mm) through til next week. This is a great time to stash some away before prices go up - again!

    THIS WEEK'S QUILTING TIDBIT INCLUDES:
0:08 minutes - Intro to this week’s Tuesday Tidbit quilting blog
0:35 minutes - Pressing and its importance - we have some tips for you
1:12 minutes - How to press your seams without bending them
2:25 minutes - How to press in the most efficient way possible: pressing multiple seams; one right after another
3:51 minutes - Traveler’s Crossroads Quilt - We used the fabric line from Gene Horton called Traveler. The subtle, soft colors of grays, khaki, and greens created a beautiful lap quilt that encompasses a 4-patch and plain block that is great for a beginning quilter.
6:00 minutes - Traveling Geese Quilt - This bed quilt uses flying geese units with a homespun border [double-sided with one side bolder than the other]. This quilt uses 23 different fabrics with minimal waste in fabrics thanks to the Flying Geese Tool and is so easy to do.
8:50 minutes - We’re going to continue our Olfa Rotary Blade sale for another week so be sure to check them out. Fresh blades make all the difference!

Good morning ladies. Thank you for another informative and creative quilting session. I so appreciate the ironing suggestions. So much time is devoted to ironing what we sew that often I want to hurry pass the effort to find that I wrinkle more than I should. When and how often do you starch? Is steaming as important as the heat of the iron and starching? I love steam and often wondered about the value of searching and how often to do it when you do. Can you give a reference again to the demonstration on the flying geese ruler (the Tuesday Tidbit number)? Thanks. Happy Easter!

poppies1215… the only time we starch is if we are pressing the whole piece before we get to cutting and want to get rid of that nasty middle crease. We also love steam. Use it every time we press. I know there are varying opinions out there- that’s ours!😂. You can find the flying geese demo June 8, 2022
