Bought the FX30 in December and don't regret it! Shot with full frame forever and didn't mind going to the FX30!

I had the FX30 and then I sold it... But I recently bought another one. I love the FX30. I use it together with a Sony A6700. I live in Hong Kong and do a lot of video outside in warmer weather. The FX30 is such a workhorse and doesn't overheat. I love that fan!
And yes, I also sold my Sony ZV-E1. I am now all APSC. You get so much value for a lot less money.

Love this combo. That's exactly what I use. I have a ton of lens for my Fx30 but my Sony 16-55mm G rarely leaves the body and I take the Tamron 11-20mm as my solo travel lens. The Fx3 lives in the studio or goes to client work

Can I call this video ultra-dope? I don't shoot Sony (as of now), but I definitely find your content super valuable and entertaining. Keep up the great work!

Honestly this and the FX3 gained alot more traction after it came out that the movie The Creator was completely shot on them. That movie is GORGEOUS!

Used to shoot on sony a7s ii for years (as a b cam) but i kinda liked the full frame to be wider with my lens. That said my A cam was a fs7 so was was just shooting from more far anyway ahah so i told myself: i survived shooting years of documentaries with that not full frame camera and i’m broke and the a7s ii is retired and i needed a cam smaller to shoot abroad so i got the fx30. Still shoot locally with the fs7 but it’s harder to throw in a backpack for plane. I’m not super use to the fx30 but i’ll continu to dig it. Thanks for sharing the video

I have stupid money tied up in FF gear. Just came back from vacation that I took X100VI, FX30, and Pocket 3. The results I got with such a small kit were incredible. I'm seriously considering the switch BACK to APS-C just save on weight size. Nice to see other creators coming to the same realization.

ive just picked a nre fx30. its a fantastic video centric camera. I do plan on getting an fx3 at some point, just so I have a full frame, this fx30 is going to be my workhourse creator camera. the lenses are fantastic and if you know what your doing you can get some incredible videos out of this thing

looks great, can barely notice any diffrence, im very new to camera's and my first pickup of a real was a 2nd hand A6000, sure it cant do 4k recordings but im using it for streaming mostly so 1080p is just fine.

I own the Zcam f6. And S1H as well as the fx30. It’s so easy to take the fx30 out because it’s not an expensive piece and it get the job done. If you get what I mean

I shoot micro four thirds, cropping even more. Yes, I know the trade-off with full frame and enjoy being able to carry my camera and very long lens all day without getting tired at age 75, shooting without a tripod and still getting sharp photos. Plenty of software now to deal with the extra noise at low light, and the greater depth of field is a plus photographing birds. I also like that I can fly and get all my gear in a normal sized backpack. Use the gear you prefer, but be open minded about your choices. I do admit I'd probably have bought a Fujifilm camera if I hadn't been an early adopter of my MFT gear, but still happy with my choice.

I would buy an FX3 today.
But even the FX30 is a great camera that was able to compensate for lens breathing ahead of the fx3, which is a very important feature for video.
I don't color the videos in a turquoise shade. I like the natural look.
I shoot basically 4.2.2 10bit in cinema mode, but usually there is no reason to interfere with it, because the camera can make a magical video even in automatic mode, but the mentioned mode gives me space where I made a partial mistake and gives me the opportunity to correct it in such a way , which I could only dream of with the previous AX100 camera.
You can see both AX100 and FX30 on my account (WARNING! some videos can be boring).
Videos from the FX30 have much more dynamics - they are like cottage cheese.

I've had my FX30 less than 2 weeks. I got it without the XLR input handle since I felt I didn't really need it. I've used APS-C cameras for a long time, and have never felt I was missing something by not having a "full frame". If anything, I've felt I haven't mastered the full potential of APS-C. I think full frame certainly has it's place, but for most of us, it's just a unnecessary expense.

Is the Fx30 really Netflix-approved? I thought it was only the FX3.

  • @acmdv

I totally agree about the cropped sensor V full-frame snobbery. Take the Fujifilm XH2S for example, it has a ton of "pro" features including "Open gate", unlimited recording and you can get one for pretty much the same price as the FX30. I think a lot of the full-frame V cropped sensor hype is down TH-cam channels & content creators who might not have the most honest of intentions i.e. They might be pushing the latest camera gear not because it's the best but more because it "new" and for clicks, e.g. when Leica's new SL3 dropped my TH-cam feed was flooded with videos about it (20+) so I do think people need to take what they see on here with a very large pinch of salt.

depth of field and low light are the only significant difference but with 1.4 lenses on APSC it's not TOO big a deal.
I'm just waiting for a Sony APSC that can do 4k120 un-cropped. Then I'll bite. Been waiting for that since my 6300.

i wish canon would bring an equivalnt to the fx series. The r5c is expensive and wish the M mount would make it on the R Mount. I still use the M6mk2 with the Sigma f1.4 trio lenses and that rig is great in terms of size, weight, and 32mp image quality and 4k 60p video with no crop is nice in a tiny cheap package for vlogging, street and travel. Unfortunalty canon has abandoned the M mount. The r7 is a great camera for APSC but its a pretty big body comapered to my m6mk2. I guess there is the r50, but i just cant let go of my m6mk2 lol. Thinking of getting either the fx3 or fx30 for video.

I only had APSC in the past. I had not purchased a camera since 2019. I was looking at a new camera and found I could buy a Canon R8 for $1100. Full Frame for APSC prices! - Frank

I copped a A6700 as opposed to the FX30 because I want to shoot both photo and video with it - it’s essentially the same camera, just FX30 has 2 sd card slots and a fan. Alternative, buy a cheap cam fan for the A6700 and get a 512 or higher sd cards 🤷🏻‍♂️

I always reach for my fx30 over my full frame cameras. It’s really just that good, never over heats it’s sharp easy to use and with the right lens low light is not much of an issue. And the xlr top handle, as flimsy as it is makes this camera as good as it gets and the price is a steal. Thanks for the vid bro!

To be honest, I think ppl put too much money and importance in gear and not enough in art. TH-cam doesn't help. Yes you got the information and reviews but it's SO MUCH HYPE and they always rave about different/new stuff every 3 months. Buy older stuff and the leses/accessories you NEED to express what you have in mind. Again....save your money ppl.

I’m diggin how much love the FX30 is getting! Like you said it really comes down to your ability to capture a good image, the tools can only aid in that. Dope video E 🫡🔥
