@@howeezy For pre-wrap, using insulation tape will be okay, I guess? Over which, you can put Yonex super grap. And is it just the payer's preference for putting a grip over pre-wrap or factory grip? Or are there advantages and disadvantages to it?
@@PeakyBlinderseh yes totally personal preference! Some players like to put pre wrap underneath their grip for added spongy feeling. I personally don’t like the black factory grip so I usually remove it but I play towel grip so it’s a little different.
I absolutely cannot regrip it doing what you just did. I get folds and creases. I’m doing it over the bare wood of the handle. Is this where I am going wrong?
Bare wood is going to be harder because it has flat/sharp edges vs if you have the factory black grip, it at least is somewhat soft and rounded already
If you took the original factory grip off, I would recommend using some pre-wrap tape underneath first on top of the wood handle too add some thickness before putting on the new grip
@@felixlin9758 I'm not sure exactly how much pre-wrap you would need to make it exactly the same. But prewrap is pretty spongy. I would say try 2 thin layers. You should be able to get an idea of if it is close to the original thickness or not
That is some spectacular production quality.
Thanks for the support!
Thanks for the tutorial Howard! What's the black base tape that you're gripping over?
The black base tape is the factory grip that the racket actually comes with. Many people remove that and put prewrap underneath instead!

Solid tutorial.
How do you keep the sticker from peeling off?
The black sticker?

How would I make my grip like yours the same thickness if I took off the original grip?
