I loved that you were able to show an interview from the people who work there and the views are amazing. It's a little far but I think it's worth seeing the largest canyon after the Grand Canyon.
The interview kinda just happened. I was excited to hear what they had to say. Yeah the park was 5 hrs away from me, but I kept hearing how it’s the best park in Texas. You know I had to check it out.

Thank you, for the video. I live in Amarillo which is about 10 to 15 miles away from Palo Duro. I have not been there in several years. I loved going to the lighthouse. I would hike up there and just sit up on the cliff area and watch people hike and enjoy the view. The play Texas is amazing. You will enjoy it when you come during the summer. Make sure to go hungry. They server barbeque before the show. Also, each year they try to add something new to the play Texas. Also, go on a night where you can enjoy the fireworks after the play. You will not be disappointed!

Back in the late 70s and mid 1980s, Palo Duro used to have a train that went by the light house called the Sad Monkey. Also you could rent horses to rode through the canyon.
It’s always cool to see an old fireplace from years gone by. Wow that theater is nice 👍. That Rock garden trail was no joke. The boulders are incredible. Enjoyed it my friend
The Longhorns always came out in the evening, which were cool to see. I didn't know anything about the Theatre before going, but definitely want to watch it over the summer. The Rock Garden trail was rough at the end. The trail incline kept increasing, but the views were nice.
I have heard of that musical, and I was upset it wasn't going on when we visited. But I didn't see the amphitheater when we visited. It definitely is the best one I have seen at a state park too.
I didn't know anything about the musical at the park and looking forward in coming back to check it out. I read online it's back for the 2021 summer. The amphitheaters is in the parking lot near the end of thee CCC trail. It was huge and I found it by walking around. It's one of our top parks we visited in 2020.
I don’t yet even know. We are staying at caprock and making a day trip to Canyon. My son is 9 in a wheelchair but I wear him on my back. So we won’t be doing the hard ones.

It was a challenge, but I made sure he did all the events. I remember a kid asking what event could he do? Since he was in a specialize wheel chair, I smiled and said all of them. I went camping here all by myself! There was a narrow cayon behind my camp site about 5 ft wide and twisted back and forth went on for miles and a whole bunch of turkies lived back in there as well as deer and theyed creep out at night and scare you half to death making funny sounds and trying to get into your tent! There is so many trails and canyons to explore its amazing! The big canyon itself is about 4000ft at its deepest and mostly 2000ft deep! Located in Texas perfect place to take your jeep or 4 wheeler! Flash flooding is possible and can turn some places of the canyon into whitewater however there is no whitewater kayaking in palo duro Canyon itself! I took my Jeep there from Colorado slept in a tent by myself and a gun! Everything was peaceful made my food on a portable gas stove kept my camp site very clean and hiked about every trail in the relatively small State Park! Dont be fooled and take a portable GPS because the park is still big enough you could get lost! I know this beautiful park like the back of my hand and every trail canyon nook and crany like the back of my hand!

The Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) was created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt at the time of the Great Depression. The CCC and Work Projects Administration (WPA) were created to provide jobs for thousands of young Americans who were out of work because of the economic failure caused by the stock market crash in 1929. Corporate greed and corrupt stock market practices caused the crash. The CCC hired young men in their twenties to build roads and paths, bridges and scenic overlook areas in the national and state parks. The picturesque lodges we have in many of these parks were built by CCC workers. Those men were able to provide for their families, and send their children to college with their income from those federal and state funded jobs. It's a beautiful thing when we have a government that works to make life better for everyone. Thanks for your videos.
I always tell folks about the CCC parks. It’s beautiful and the craftsmanship in creating these park. The men created everything by hand and made great sacrifices. We recently Balmorhea State Park and was reading how they laid the foundation of the pools. What’s your favorite CCC park in Texas?

@@MrSTravelQuest I think Red Rocks only does concerts though they also do an Easter sunrise service that we went to one year which was very impressive as well and the hiking trails there are great. So many other great parks in Colorado too! Roxborough State Park south of Denver, Eldorado Canyon State Park, Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Rifle Falls State Park in Rifle, CO, are some of our favorites. Then of course there are the National Parks: Rocky Mountain, Great Sand Dunes, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Mesa Verde.

@@MrSTravelQuest Golden Gate Canyon State Park (CO) is excellent. Grandma here did the Raccoon Trail up to Panorama Point and only minor altitude issues. Also did Lookout Mountain Nature Preserve Trail btwn the Boettcher Mansion and Wild Bill gravesite. Incredible site. I've also attempted the Fish Creek trail to the top in Steamboat Springs but only got about 2/3 up before the alt. got me. Altitude is a huge issue in CO so take time to acclimate, bring water and pace yourself the first time. I'd be interested to know how you compare the hiking as we're Texans who want to explore our home state.

WOW, that amphitheater was huge. I probably would have missed that bridge. Holy Monkeys, that is some serious glamping in those cabins/tents....They come with bikes? but I bet they're still plagued by the age old state problem, "no pets."
The amphitheater was huge! The glamping was cool and they had a $50 off going on when we visited. They just finished everything up on our visit and people were asking about it. You can have two pets in the Glamping sites, which is cool. The bikes are part of the package and have two per site. This park HUGE!!!!, working on The light house video next :-)

It’s pretty spread out, but the light house trails were pretty busy. It’s my next video on Palo Duro Canyon. What’s cool about this park is that you can drive through the canyon.

There is a trail run in October that I've done twice now, just made reservations to go back. Love the park and the rugged terrain, thanks for posting.
It’s one of our favorite in the state. Run in October sounds like fun. It’s one of the more unique parks we have in the state.
The First time I went for a trail run there it was awesome..even the part where I came across a mountain lion .

I went there in the seventies had a great time until half way during the show we had evacuate the canyon due to a flash floods

I thought the pan handle only had grass I would expect this to be in West Texas but Texas is huge

What about bikes and e-bikes on the trails? How about where Quannah Parker was intercepted?
I don’t think e-bikes are allowed on trails. I know on the light house trail you ride bikes.

It’s pretty spread out, but the light house trails were pretty busy. It’s my next video on Palo Duro Canyon. What’s cool about this park is that you can drive through the canyon.

Although the views are beautiful, and I know "covid" has people scared of their own shadow, Am having a hard time understanding why you are wearing a mask in the outdoors with no one anywhere around you?
We had it on when we passed through people.
