We still really want to visit DR ourselves... while we love our points hotels the Bahia Principe looks really beautiful and has so much to offer on resort for a more relaxing vacation.
Yeah we honestly only booked it because it was super cheap (over half off regular price) and they were allowing cancellations up to just a couple days prior to the date of the reservation. But the beach was amazing and we really did have a blast. It had been forever since we had done an all inclusive and it was definitely nice to have no worries for a few days!

Love the Bahia Principe! We’ve been going since 2009. Haven’t been back to that resort since 2018, it looks like they’ve made a lot of changes in that section. Very nice.

No there is not a shuttle bus. There may now be a golf cart service for those who aren't as mobile, but we can't say for sure. Our recommendation would be to join the "Fans of the Lopesan" Facebook group and ask there. It's a very active community, with many members who have been to the resort much more recently than we have. Thank you so much for watching!

Craig got pretty excited seeing that lemon meringue pie but to be honest the whole place is pretty exciting. So many facilities at the resort, love the yoga studio and your room looked so nice and spacious. Can’t think where those beers may have gone!🍻🤣😂
Honestly the desserts at this resort were not one of the few things at the resort that we weren't too impressed with,, but that lemon pie was definitely an exception. And yeah, the missing beers may forever remain a mystery 😅
You guys have gone into a a lot of detail through this addition and covered everything and anything you want to know about the property. The rooms look so huge and and seems to come with everything. Loved your sunrise - the colour look so great at that time with the water and sky. Mojito's are my go to drink - so summery and refreshing....I normally make them with Vodka instead of the white run though. Taste good either way though :)
We try to go into as much detail as possible without boring people. We seem to have succeeded with this one. The room really was surprisingly big. Living in a one-bedroom apartment, we sure didn't feel cramped. And I've actually never tried a mojito, with Vodka, but I don't see why it wouldn't be good. I'll have to give it a try sometime!
@@Explorcation it depends what your into...Vodka or Rum....I'm more of a voddy drinker, so suits me better. But Thats only when I'm making it for myself. At a bar or something, I will always drink with rum.... sometimes it's nicer, depending how they make it.
What an amazing resort! Loved the tour and all the details. Your room looked nice and modern, and the bed looked really comfortable! The pool is so big, great that it offers a lot of seating areas for everyone. So many restaurants, looking forward to the restaurant guide video! And the beach...wow!
Yeah we had read about how big the pool was, but it was truly massive. The week after we actually visited and island in the Bahamas that has the largest pool in the Caribbean, and it was only a little bit bigger than the one at the Bahia Ambar. The room really was huge, we didn't even use close to all of the storage space. We had read that the beach was really nice, but it exceeded our expectations. It was one of the nicest beaches we'd ever visited.
Really enjoyed watching this video! Beautiful place! You both need to come across the pond and over my way to Scotland! Just prepare for much colder weather lol!

There is a disco, but unfortunately when we visited (during the COVID pandemic) it was closed. There was usually a decent crowd at the sports bar late at night when we visited, and some nights they had karaoke which seemed to be pretty popular. Thanks so much for watching, Rodney!

We're so glad to hear you enjoyed it. It really was a beautiful resort and a relaxing experience. We did not do any excursions. We spent a good portion of our time filming on the resort, and when we weren't doing that we just did our best to relax.... something we found we are not very good at anymore!

Thank you so much for watching and for the sub, Leanna! Regarding the nighttime entertainment, it definitely was limited, as the main Village area was still during our visit. The Village I believe is where the Disco and the Courtyard are located, which is where they would normally have a lot of the nighttime entertainment. That said, the Sports Bar stays open late (2 or 3 AM I believe) and does get pretty busy at night. They do Karaoke there some nights. There were also nightly musicians at the lobby each night, although it was pretty chill music and definitely not a party scene. We'll share more information about the resort in our upcoming videos, which we'll be posting over the next three Saturdays. Hopefully they will help you make your decision on whether or not to visit the Ambar!
Wow this resort is massive! So many properties together. I haven't been to Dominican in over 5 years and never to Punta Cana. Seemed like they had great amenities. Your room was beautiful. You had a much better experience with your wrist key than I did 🤣 the pools looked so nice, and I'd love to visit that bar for chicken wings and an extra dirty martini.
We had actually read a few reviews of people having issues with the wrist bands at this resort too, but thankfully they worked perfectly for us! The Sports Bar was a great spot. The chicken wings were not at all like normal Buffalo wings, but they were delicious!
You Killed it with this Adult Only Resort! We really want to go and check this out!!!! Looks like there is so much to do there and love that they recommend planning dinner and have entertainment! The Chicken Wings and Dirty Martini had our names all over it. Don't know how you can find time to use the gym though! Pants for men is always an issue for us as we like our shorts, but now after our one experience with one hotel, we always bring nice long pants as we travel now. LOVE the room tour!! ALL FREE MINI FOR THE WIN! Yes, you want a room from the main pool as it allows you more privacy as well as quietness as they always get loud! Wow you will be doing more videos on each restaurants which we are excited to watch! Stunning tour you guys!
Thanks so much guys. You are 100% right about wanting a room away from the pool. The further we got into our stay the more grateful we were for our nice and quiet location! And yeah Skylar is not a fan of the long pants requirement, but we now know to always bring at least one pair!

We do always provide honest reviews in our videos, and we're glad that they come across as genuine. You didn't miss the part about the room service, because that is one of the things we never experienced, as we really enjoyed going to the restaurants for all of our meals. We can't recall if room service is provided 24 hours, but if you join the Bahia Ambar facebook group and ask the question on there (or any other question you may have), someone will definitely be happy to answer it for you!

Your room is huge! Love it! How cool that they offer pool side Spanish lessons. And that beach! So stunning! I would be up by dawn for a walk too! How long did you wind up staying?
It really was a big room. Nearly the size if our apartment! We determined that poolside lessons are definitely the best (or at least the most enjoyable) way to learn spanish! We were at the resort for 6 nights. Definitely could have stayed a couple more!
Nice looking place. I thought I noticed an ashtray on your balcony table. If so, was smoking something that you noticed in general around the property or when you were on the balcony?
Yes, there was an ashtray on the balcony. We never smelled smoke while out on our balcony, but we did see a few people around the property smoking both cigars and cigarettes. Smoking was definitely not allowed anywhere indoors (except maybe the casino?), and we never had any issue with smelling it while outdoors. We hope this helps!

Thanks for watching, Viv! The Aquamarine property is beautiful. We will actually be showing some footage of it in the video that we'll be posting this Saturday. The closest beach to the Aquamarine would be Ambar's beach, as Aquamarine is not actually located on the beach. That being said, it would likely only be a 5 minute walk or so and I think that you can also get a ride to the beach from the lobby on one of the golf carts. We hope you enjoy your trip!
Hello!!! thank you for your videos! this actually helped us decide on Bahia Principe Ambar for our honeymoon in May! did you all schedule a shuttle through the resort or was it easy to do it at the airport?
We are so glad to hear you found our video to be helpful, Gabriela. We booked our transfer through the resort with Coming2 and it went very smoothly. We actually reserved a "shared" shuttle both ways, but we had the shuttle all to ourselves on the way to the resort. Coming back to the airport we share it with one other group from the Ambar, but there was still plenty of space in the van.
Hi, thanks for watching. We were there in October when there were still some restrictions in place due to the pandemic. The resort was not very full, so it is hard to say what the typical crowd is like there. During our stay the pool was loud and lively during the day but the beach was gorgeous and relaxing.
At the places that charge for drinks and other things, can you use your " room key " to bill to your room? Or do you have to carry a credit card or cash with you?
Thank you so much for watching and for the question, Dale. As nearly all the food and drinks at the resort were included, we didn't really buy anything other than the drinks in the Pineapple and Coconut (which we always paid cash for). So we're not sure if you can bill those (or other things you may purchase on the resort) to your room or not. One place where you could almost certainly get that question answered is the Luxury Principe Ambar Facebook Group. It's an active group full of people who have been there much more recently than us, and they would likely be more than happy to answer your question (plus any others you may have).
From what we recall we only paid extra for the pineapple and coconut drinks, both of which we bought using US currency. All of the Dominican resorts we've been to accept both US and Dominican currency.
Thank you so much. The evening specialty restaurants do require a reservation. If the app is working, it is easy to make the reservations through the app. If it isn't working there are staff in the lobby that can assist with reservations :)

Just arrived from this Hotel. If you are less than 45, like to party with a group , drink a lot and being loud this is the place. Oh! forgot, you are also a smoker? This is paradise.
While this wasn't our takeaway from our visit, we were also at the resort when it was far from full occupancy, and even then, we did find the main pool to be a younger crowd and definitely more of a party vibe. Did you venture onto any of the sister properties? If so, did you find any of them to be more of the atmosphere you were looking for?
We hope you get a chance to visit and enjoy it as much as we did. There were musicians every night in the lobby during our stay and also karaoke in the sports bar, but that was pretty much it for nighttime entertainment as "the Village" which has the disco and other entertainment areas was closed.
Hello. During our visit there was some seaweed on the beach, but not as much as I've seen on some other beaches. The beach cleaners always came through in the morning to clean it up, so the majority of the day the beach had almost no seaweed on it.
We thought the Ambar restaurants and service was better. We liked the Occidental pools and beaches better. So it depends on what you prioritize. If we were to go back to the Occidental we would definitely book a Royal Room as the Royal Beach Bar is amazing.

Although we do generally prefer more adventurous vacations, sometimes the worry free environment of an all inclusive is a nice change of pace. We certainly did enjoy this one and hope you get to experience one some day soon!
How is the weather there in June? We planed our honeymoon there (5.06.22) How about Towels? Do I have to bring my own towels for the beach/pool? Or do we get every day fresh towls. I only mean the towels for the beach and pool. Not for the bathroom :)
They will provide you with fresh beach towels. You will need to bring our own. Average high temperature in early May in Punta Cana is 85 degrees and average low is 73 degrees. It rains about half of the days that time of year, but generally not all day. Thanks so much for watching!
That is a great question, but I don't know that we have a very good answer. When we were there in October the only night life was live music in the lobby and the Sports Bar. There is a Village area that is in the middle of the whole Bahia property where other night events were held in the past, however the Village was still closed during our visit. I've had it for a few years now and can't recall exactly where I got it. I can tell you that the brand is "Almost Famous" and they carry it the brand at Kohl's, so perhaps I got it there, or maybe Marshalls.
Yes, it was renovated back in 2018, so not too long ago. The nightlife was limited during our stay, mainly consisting of a nightly live musician in the lobby bar and music/karaoke in the sports bar. There should be many more options; however, when the village and courtyard open back up, but with COVID, who knows when that will be.
This looks relaxing except for the mask. Hopefully those rules have been relaxed as well. I never stayed at an all inclusive resort. The room looks superb and facilities top notched. Did they have massage/spa services?

From our most recent experience in the Dominican (mid-May), guests were not required to where masks anywhere at the all inclusive we were at, but most of the staff was still wearing masks. Masks were being worn by some of the people in the plane and airport.

Hi Molly. I believe it depends when you booked. When we booked our stay in summer 2021, they were offering free testing, so we did not have to pay. But we talked to some other guests who had booked at later dates that did have to pay for their tests.
The main difference is that the Ambar is adults-only whereas the Esmeralda is not. Esmeralda does have an adults only pool though (in addition to a family pool). We also do slightly prefer the location of the Ambar, as it has more of the restaurants, plus the coffee shop and sports bar. We have never actually stayed at the Esmeralda though, so we can't comment on the quality of the rooms.

I’ve been to this place a couple times it’s great The only negative is the resort is getting bigger and bigger which makes it crowded on the beach during peek season And the food was ok not the best But for the price it’s really not fair to complain 😄
Yeah, there are certainly higher end resorts out there that will be less crowded and offer better food. But like you said, for the price you pay, it's really hard to complain about this resort. Yeah, it is kind of odd that they just have the one, but when we stayed their the Aquamarine Pool (which the Ambar guests had access when it was open) looked really nice!
No not really. The only resorts we have visited in the Dominican are ones we have paid to go on vacation at. We have also visited Lopesan and Occidental Punta Cana and have videos on both of them too. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Doug. We didn't find the Ambar on it's own to be too big. You could walk to anywhere on the resort in about 5 minutes or so. Now if you are talking the entire Bahia Principe complex as a whole, then yes, it's absolutely huge. Booking the a-la-carte restaurants was a bit of a challenge but definitely not impossible. We ended up eating at the sports bar our first night because they were all booked up, but each of the next 5 nights we were able to get reservations. I know that some of the restaurants were closed on certain nights due to COVID, so that did present some extra challenges.

Love the Bahia Principe! We’ve been going since 2009. Haven’t been back to that resort since 2018, it looks like they’ve made a lot of changes in that section. Very nice.

No there is not a shuttle bus. There may now be a golf cart service for those who aren't as mobile, but we can't say for sure. Our recommendation would be to join the "Fans of the Lopesan" Facebook group and ask there. Craig got pretty excited seeing that lemon meringue pie but to be honest the whole place is pretty exciting. So many facilities at the resort, love the yoga studio and your room looked so nice and spacious. Can’t think where those beers may have gone!🍻🤣😂
Honestly the desserts at this resort were not one of the few things at the resort that we weren't too impressed with,, but that lemon pie was definitely an exception. And yeah, the missing beers may forever remain a mystery 😅
You guys have gone into a a lot of detail through this addition and covered everything and anything you want to know about the property. The rooms look so huge and and seems to come with everything. Loved your sunrise - the colour look so great at that time with the water and sky. Mojito's are my go to drink - so summery and refreshing....I normally make them with Vodka instead of the white run though. Taste good either way though :)
We try to go into as much detail as possible without boring people. We seem to have succeeded with this one. The room really was surprisingly big. Living in a one-bedroom apartment, we sure didn't feel cramped. And I've actually never tried a mojito, with Vodka, but I don't see why it wouldn't be good. I'll have to give it a try sometime!
@@Explorcation it depends what your into...Vodka or Rum....I'm more of a voddy drinker, so suits me better. But Thats only when I'm making it for myself.
At a bar or something, I will always drink with rum.... sometimes it's nicer, depending how they make it.

Yeah we had read about how big the pool was, but it was truly massive. The week after we actually visited and island in the Bahamas that has the largest pool in the Caribbean, and it was only a little bit bigger than the one at the Bahia Ambar. The room really was huge, we didn't even use close to all of the storage space. We had read that the beach was really nice, but it exceeded our expectations. It was one of the nicest beaches we'd ever visited.

We're so glad to hear you enjoyed it. It really was a beautiful resort and a relaxing experience. We did not do any excursions. We spent a good portion of our time filming on the resort, and when we weren't doing that we just did our best to relax.... something we found we are not very good at anymore!
Great video! Love the detailed review and your overall tone, subscribed! I’m thinking of booking my trip soon and this video couldn’t have come at a better time. I heard there isn’t much entertainment at nighttime, or much of a nightlife could you share your experiences?
Thank you so much for watching and for the sub, Leanna! Regarding the nighttime entertainment, it definitely was limited, as the main Village area was still during our visit. The Village I believe is where the Disco and the Courtyard are located, which is where they would normally have a lot of the nighttime entertainment. That said, the Sports Bar stays open late (2 or 3 AM I believe) and does get pretty busy at night. They do Karaoke there some nights. There were also nightly musicians at the lobby each night, although it was pretty chill music and definitely not a party scene. We'll share more information about the resort in our upcoming videos, which we'll be posting over the next three Saturdays. Hopefully they will help you make your decision on whether or not to visit the Ambar!
Wow this resort is massive! So many properties together. I haven't been to Dominican in over 5 years and never to Punta Cana. Seemed like they had great amenities. Your room was beautiful. You had a much better experience with your wrist key than I did 🤣 the pools looked so nice, and I'd love to visit that bar for chicken wings and an extra dirty martini.
We had actually read a few reviews of people having issues with the wrist bands at this resort too, but thankfully they worked perfectly for us! The Sports Bar was a great spot. The chicken wings were not at all like normal Buffalo wings, but they were delicious!
Just that that is a single property; they are many other of the same size. Punta Cana is the best place to visit in the DR

You Killed it with this Adult Only Resort! We really want to go and check this out!!!! Looks like there is so much to do there and love that they recommend planning dinner and have entertainment! The Chicken Wings and Dirty Martini had our names all over it. Don't know how you can find time to use the gym though! Pants for men is always an issue for us as we like our shorts, but now after our one experience with one hotel, we always bring nice long pants as we travel now. LOVE the room tour!! ALL FREE MINI FOR THE WIN!
Yes, you want a room from the main pool as it allows you more privacy as well as quietness as they always get loud! Wow you will be doing more videos on each restaurants which we are excited to watch! Stunning tour you guys!

Your room is huge! Love it! How cool that they offer pool side Spanish lessons. And that beach! So stunning! I would be up by dawn for a walk too! How long did you wind up staying?
It really was a big room. Nearly the size if our apartment! We determined that poolside lessons are definitely the best (or at least the most enjoyable) way to learn spanish! We were at the resort for 6 nights. Definitely could have stayed a couple more!
Nice looking place. I thought I noticed an ashtray on your balcony table. If so, was smoking something that you noticed in general around the property or when you were on the balcony?
Yes, there was an ashtray on the balcony. We never smelled smoke while out on our balcony, but we did see a few people around the property smoking both cigars and cigarettes. Smoking was definitely not allowed anywhere indoors (except maybe the casino?), and we never had any issue with smelling it while outdoors. We hope this helps!

Thanks for watching, Viv! The Aquamarine property is beautiful. We will actually be showing some footage of it in the video that we'll be posting this Saturday. The closest beach to the Aquamarine would be Ambar's beach, as Aquamarine is not actually located on the beach. That being said, it would likely only be a 5 minute walk or so and I think that you can also get a ride to the beach from the lobby on one of the golf carts. We hope you enjoy your trip!
Hello!!! thank you for your videos! this actually helped us decide on Bahia Principe Ambar for our honeymoon in May! did you all schedule a shuttle through the resort or was it easy to do it at the airport?
We are so glad to hear you found our video to be helpful, Gabriela. We booked our transfer through the resort with Coming2 and it went very smoothly. We actually reserved a "shared" shuttle both ways, but we had the shuttle all to ourselves on the way to the resort. Coming back to the airport we share it with one other group from the Ambar, but there was still plenty of space in the van.

Hi, thanks for watching. We were there in October when there were still some restrictions in place due to the pandemic. The resort was not very full, so it is hard to say what the typical crowd is like there. During our stay the pool was loud and lively during the day but the beach was gorgeous and relaxing.
At the places that charge for drinks and other things, can you use your " room key " to bill to your room? Or do you have to carry a credit card or cash with you?

As nearly all the food and drinks at the resort were included, we didn't really buy anything other than the drinks in the Pineapple and Coconut (which we always paid cash for). So we're not sure if you can bill those (or other things you may purchase on the resort) to your room or not. One place where you could almost certainly get that question answered is the Luxury Principe Ambar Facebook Group. It's an active group full of people who have been there much more recently than us, and they would likely be more than happy to answer your question (plus any others you may have).

From what we recall we only paid extra for the pineapple and coconut drinks, both of which we bought using US currency. All of the Dominican resorts we've been to accept both US and Dominican currency.

Thank you so much. The evening specialty restaurants do require a reservation. If the app is working, it is easy to make the reservations through the app. If it isn't working there are staff in the lobby that can assist with reservations :)

Just arrived from this Hotel. If you are less than 45, like to party with a group , drink a lot and being loud this is the place. Oh! forgot, you are also a smoker? This is paradise.
While this wasn't our takeaway from our visit, we were also at the resort when it was far from full occupancy, and even then, we did find the main pool to be a younger crowd and definitely more of a party vibe. Did you venture onto any of the sister properties? If so, did you find any of them to be more of the atmosphere you were looking for?

Hello. During our visit there was some seaweed on the beach, but not as much as I've seen on some other beaches. The beach cleaners always came through in the morning to clean it up, so the majority of the day the beach had almost no seaweed on it.

We thought the Ambar restaurants and service was better. We liked the Occidental pools and beaches better. So it depends on what you prioritize. If we were to go back to the Occidental we would definitely book a Royal Room as the Royal Beach Bar is amazing.

I have never spent time at a resort like this and I'm really wondering why not right now.
Although we do generally prefer more adventurous vacations, sometimes the worry free environment of an all inclusive is a nice change of pace. We certainly did enjoy this one and hope you get to experience one some day soon!

Do I have to bring my own towels for the beach/pool? Or do we get every day fresh towls. I only mean the towels for the beach and pool. Not for the bathroom :)
They will provide you with fresh beach towels. You will need to bring our own. Average high temperature in early May in Punta Cana is 85 degrees and average low is 73 degrees. It rains about half of the days that time of year, but generally not all day. Thanks so much for watching!

That is a great question, but I don't know that we have a very good answer. When we were there in October the only night life was live music in the lobby and the Sports Bar. There is a Village area that is in the middle of the whole Bahia property where other night events were held in the past, however the Village was still closed during our visit. I've had it for a few years now and can't recall exactly where I got it. I can tell you that the brand is "Almost Famous" and they carry it the brand at Kohl's, so perhaps I got it there, or maybe Marshalls.

Yes, it was renovated back in 2018, so not too long ago. The nightlife was limited during our stay, mainly consisting of a nightly live musician in the lobby bar and music/karaoke in the sports bar. There should be many more options; however, when the village and courtyard open back up, but with COVID, who knows when that will be.
This looks relaxing except for the mask. Hopefully those rules have been relaxed as well. I never stayed at an all inclusive resort. The room looks superb and facilities top notched. Did they have massage/spa services?

From our most recent experience in the Dominican (mid-May), guests were not required to where masks anywhere at the all inclusive we were at, but most of the staff was still wearing masks. Masks were being worn by some of the people in the plane and airport.

Hi Molly. I believe it depends when you booked. When we booked our stay in summer 2021, they were offering free testing, so we did not have to pay. But we talked to some other guests who had booked at later dates that did have to pay for their tests.
Was there any seaweed ??
When we visited, we saw very minimal seaweed, and it was cleaned up quick when it was there.
Is Ambar the same as Grand Bahia Principe Acquamarine?
They are two different resorts, located within the Bahia property. They are located right next to each other :)

Unfortunately when we were there in October it had not reopened :(
Is there a big difference between the Esmeralda and the Ambar?
The main difference is that the Ambar is adults-only whereas the Esmeralda is not. Esmeralda does have an adults only pool though (in addition to a family pool). We also do slightly prefer the location of the Ambar, as it has more of the restaurants, plus the coffee shop and sports bar. We have never actually stayed at the Esmeralda though, so we can't comment on the quality of the rooms.

I’ve been to this place a couple times it’s great
The only negative is the resort is getting bigger and bigger which makes it crowded on the beach during peek season
And the food was ok not the best
But for the price it’s really not fair to complain 😄
Yeah, there are certainly higher end resorts out there that will be less crowded and offer better food. But like you said, for the price you pay, it's really hard to complain about this resort. Yeah, it is kind of odd that they just have the one, but when we stayed their the Aquamarine Pool (which the Ambar guests had access when it was open) looked really nice!

No not really. The only resorts we have visited in the Dominican are ones we have paid to go on vacation at. We have also visited Lopesan and Occidental Punta Cana and have videos on both of them too. Thanks for watching.
Looks like a beautiful resort but way too big. I assume almost impossible to book an a la cart. And pre pandemic the beach would be super crowded.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, Doug. We didn't find the Ambar on it's own to be too big. You could walk to anywhere on the resort in about 5 minutes or so. Now if you are talking the entire Bahia Principe complex as a whole, then yes, it's absolutely huge. Booking the a-la-carte restaurants was a bit of a challenge but definitely not impossible. We ended up eating at the sports bar our first night because they were all booked up, but each of the next 5 nights we were able to get reservations. I know that some of the restaurants were closed on certain nights due to COVID, so that did present some extra challenges.
