Bring us back this dashboard !!! It was so simple looked more modern than every other dashboard we had after... This dashboard makes you want to play and you feel invited to awesomeness... Now you just launch your games and the other too many apps makes the experience boring
Damn, I remember the good old days I had with the old dashboard. I got my first Xbox in 2007 which originally used to be my dad's Xbox but managed to own it after a year or 2 of owning it. I still remember playing halo 3 and crackdown for the first time. I wish we had the blades dashboard back.

The 360 lacked personality after they introduced the Avatars and new dashboards. One of my gaming goals is to own a 360 with this dash still on it and play pre-2008 releases on it
Today I grabbed a 360 from the recycling center and joked to myself about how it was going to have blades on it still... I was shocked when I booted it up and saw them.
I think the only did this cuz it was around when Windows Vista came out and they wanted it to look like the windows Aero theme cursive word evocative 360 towards gamer
I remember my older brother introducing me to the Xbox 360 in 2005, he set it up in the living room at Christmas and we played many games throughout the night, including Kameo and Call of Duty 2, I was immediately hooked to Xbox Live after that. Seeing the 'friend is online' or 'someone sent you a message' notification was like being in a virtual world to me at the time.
Owners, even with online presence via Live, are absolutely living in this moment up to Tuesday, 18 November 2008. That's two years, eleven months, three weeks and six days, too damn short for the dashboard GOAT.
I remember when I first got my 360 and I started looking around on the blades dashboard, I found myself watching that "Welcome" video and Idk why but I always loved watching it. These were good days, I certainly don't get all excited about consoles like I did with the 360. Thanks for the throwback.
god i yearn for this look and feel of a console menu. never started with this dashboard (started with the post NXE Kinect dash) but i definitely see the appeal of it. it has a look, feel, and overall charm that has been lost by the minimalism of today (also adware).

Watching this video makes me wish Microsoft throws us a bone on the console's 20th anniversary and brings this dashboard back for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The graphics chip failed, for an ATI product it's kinda ironic..... Then again it reminds me of an ATI Radeon X1xxx series card I had though.... it ran hot. I have an Original Xbox 360 with HDMI nowadays but it's refurbished. Once AMD took over they probably redefined the hardware. Yet my ATI Radeon x300 in my old laptop works perfectly fine 🤷
Shame that the Xbox series X only has Blades as a dynamic background. Honestly, a fresh coat of paint (as in reworking the ui can actually help it be usable for series x/s)

I played the hell out of Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 on it before it inevitably red ringed in 2010. 4 years later, we find the console again and it works. About a year later, the console then exploded internally. Ending its life after 8 years.
I remember going to a kid friendly dentist when i was little, and they had Xbox 360s with the blades dashboard that were never updated. if only i could see where those are now
Simpler times indeed... This interface was perfect. My only complaint is that the colors were pretty bright, however the carbon theme rectifies this as it's literally a dark theme. Also, fun fact: The glass theme is actually based on Office 2007. Also, I've noticed that on earlier versions of blades such as this one, there are more animations; especially when going through settings, with the blades doing an expanding and disbanding animation with every individual selection making navigation a bit sluggish. The final revision of blades, 6717 actually made things snappier by removing some of the animations. (i.e. The blades expanding/disbanding out entirely when opening/closing a sub menu)

You can go on Xbox Live with the Blades dashboard if you RGH the console, but Microsoft doesn't play nice with modded 360s even if your sole purpose is to go online with an older dash.

I remember the 1st time setting up my profile. It was so crazy to see all of these avatars even though there's only like 9 of them and it was really cool at the time to see the halo grunt. If you missed out on this I'm sorry. This simplicity, and lack of every ge in existence on game pass made gaming memorable. You didn't just pick up a game for 5 minutes and delete it because your entire generation is spoiled and has adhd. You valued every second you got to play the new game that came out for live before people were trolls, and quoted memes. Actually I'm just sorry for anyone born after 1995 lol. Sucks to suck.
NXE was still great in my opinion and is my favorite one alongside the Blades however what ruined it for me was the the update they did to the NXE dashboard which made it all White and Kinect friendly which was just god awful. Of course it got way worse however when they decided to release the Metro dashboard which is honestly one of the worst dashboards I have ever seen as it was full of ads and was annoying to navigate compared to the previous dashboards and it also lacked the charm the previous dashboards had and was generic as hell as well.
NXE is still amazing But blades has a certain charm that nxe has and dissent has I could fall asleep to this dash’s sound effect, I mean that as a compliment

We had reached a perfect harmony of having everything we wanted, yet being really limited. Now we just have everything and it's not as much of an adventure.
I’m still mystified as to why they didn’t let users choose which dashboard they wanted, especially considering the Blades are so much more snappy. The XMB is still a thing on the PS3, so… hopefully this issue can be remedied if a softmod ever becomes available (I’m certain this issue is fixed for hardmodded/JTAG consoles; correct me if I’m wrong).
Xbox was the leader in the gaming industry during the blade era. This was when they were fully committed to catering to hardcore gamers and determined steal Playstation's marketshare. It's too bad the Xbox division was put under new management to chase after the casual/motion-control fad that the Wii started. I think if Microsoft kept their momentum by just continuing to do what they were doing during the first half of the 360's lifespan then Sony wouldn't have been able to catch up, or at least not nearly as fast.
I hate Microsoft for not making the dashboard styles interchangeable on modern 360s. As early as NXE they scrapped the guide blade color customization... Like come on I want a purple menu 😭 I miss 2007 so freaking much... Now if only someone could make a private xbox live server and make it so those with blades or NXE could play online, marketplace and all without updating

I love how, even after eight years and four redesigns, Xbox 360 notifications never really changed.
I got my 360 late so I didn't have the blades for long, but I will always cherish it for the short time I did have it.

You can use dashhack to enable playing modern titles on the older 360 dashboards, and even connect to xbox live at some point
Unfortunealy after days or weeks, it will get you console banned (only way is to have a modded console with jtag, xdk or rgh to make dashhack work)
