  • Here is an affordable option to a fairly fast and very affordable 28mm Lens from the 1970's. I'm already falling in love with vintage lenses and have another classic on the way :)

    This is the ultimate lens review one can find. Usually people spend 80 percent of the review with the speaking and show only little bit test footage. Doing both simultaneously is great.

    That is one of my top 5 vintage lenses, i love it ! I also have a Vivitar 28mm f2.5 that uses a smaller front filter (58mm vs the 67mm on the one in your video) with a number code on the front that starts with 37 (Tokina) and it is extremely sharp. Others are Pentax-M SMC 50mm f2 and Pentax-M SMC 28mm F2.8...... last is a Helios 44-2 58mm f2 lens. I don't use them a lot because i normally shoot Zeiss Milvus and Canon L glass for work, but I love them and will never sell them.

      I want to buy a 28mm vintage lens. What is better (Vivitar 28mm or SMC 28mm F2.8)?
      I'm also giving a strong look at the super takumar 28mm f3.5

    • @MexicanMovie
      @MexicanMovie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pipopipo6477 Super Takumar is by far the best (in my opinion) but a little more expensive. The Vivitar and Pentax-M just have a different look between them, so it would come down to your personal preference.

      Thank you this information, KP Media. I have one of these that I have hardly used. I think I got it from a car boot sale. What qualities do you like about it? It is my only 28mm lens. I'm a monochrome only film Photographer.

    • @MexicanMovie
      @MexicanMovie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kinglear5952 I like the fact that it gives me a vintage look that is hard to replicate using a newer, modern lens and I've got them all. I've used this lens with my BMCC 2.5k, Canon C300 and C100, and it looks great on all three of them. Maybe once spring is here I will head out and gather a full day of footage using that lens on all 3 of my cameras and post it up on my channel (if i don't forget about it). You can pretty much replicate Alexa footage using that lens with minimal processing.

    One tip. Try to use ISO 1000 on bright sunny days. You will have less clipping in the highlights and it will lock even more cinematic!
    I was also shooting on ISO 400 when ever I could thinking it will have more dynamic range. But for some strange reason ISO 1000 works better with the highlights on the BMPCC 4K. Of course you would need to ad more ND...

  • @zaymax_7

    Was the lens mounted on a speedbooster to make it similar to ff or was it on a dumb adapter therefore 56mm equiv?

  • @armangurcell

    Great review! I‘m just a little confused with regards to the mount! Why did you mention that it‘s easy to adapt to an EF Mount? I thought you were shooting on the Pocket 4K (M43 Mount)? And, if it‘s okay, could you also disclose the first digits of the serial number? Does it start with 22…?

      You have to rotate the Viltrox lens in the adapter. To do this, dismantle, adjust/rotate, attach and see if the close-up limit of your lenses then fits. If not correct again.
