@@FrankJames Your test result mainly reveals 92% turbulence (high neuroticism). This isn't considered a "bad" trait by the way, it depends on how it's being used. Just wanted to mention that, hoping you're not offended lmao
Otherwise I think you shouldn't take your result too seriously (not even the 74% sensing, although it may indicate something). It's very difficult to isolate a personality trait with a questionnaire. Some would argue it's impossible. And then there's the bias of the personal perspective, too.

Lol that sounds about right. I've taken it three times to see if the results changed at all. They really did. I got INFP-T the first time, ISFP-T the second time, and INTP-T the third time. I'm fairly sure I'm an INFP (I mean, I took a function-based test and got ENFJ which was an, uh, curveball, so jury's still out on INFP) so I guess it had a higher accuracy for me than most people.

Yes, this test is badly constructed and violates some basic guidelines of proper psychological test theory. And he does a good job at picking apart why - because many people will still say "I can accurately guess what everyone else is thinking just by looking at them" but the truth is nobody can - if we were honest with ourselves some of these questions measure humility and realism more than anything else.

    • @MIZZKIE

@@okonomiyakiyakiyaki INTPs (especially those that are 9s) are the master of being able to quickly figure out if a person is irritated or frustrated and know we have to lay lower than normal.
Only problem is, we tend to assume its directed at us and we miso terpret why and that's where it trips us up - but we know you are having a bad day.
It's one of the reasons we are so confused. When we have a bad day and are like doing out best to make sure everyone notices it - usually the most we muster elicits an 'are you ok? You seem tired..' no, I'm sick and/or angry and I want to go home now.

I then started to read more and more about my personality type as well as other personality types. I knew I filled out that test pretty accurate because there is no other personality type that fits me. I actually took that same test again a few weeks ago. Info update: You are correct. According to this book in my hands from 1998, the feeling types are described as empathetic and the thinking types as logical. The two are not mutually exclusive so I don't understand why they are on a scale like this. This doesn't make sense to me as an INTP who scores very high on empathy in other tests (I don't display it though). It's plain intimidating what employers do with these personality tests. They could be used to either accommodate or manipulate and in some cases are quite misleading.

Is that i really want to get into a school right now, but i need to pass an entrance exam. And if it somehow ended up being either me or someone else. Even if they were begging on their knees, you best believe i would take the opportunity to get that spot myself. Without hesitation.. lol

Well exactly, with the overthinking it was like seeing myself... trying to find the exact meaning and not finding just one so not being sure therefore it cant be correct. I came out infp and intp before, but when I did the test with my so and letting him pick for me, we came out istj. And the more he explained why it could be true and how I used the functions the more it clicked even though I never really identified with the memes or stereotypes - altough i do see it a bit now. I think we are blind to how we are, but then again maybe my so is also looking through a lens... : ) will we ever be sure? You can learn most from not listening to your thoughts but really looking at yourself from the outside. How do you act and how are you perceived compared to others around u... I did a test on a site from a uk university where u can import your fb data and based on how you write they mbti type you (+ guess gender, age group,...)

@@kumikoo00 I agree with you. The 1rst time I did the test I turned to be ENTJ (in my case, I totally agreed) but then, the 2nd time I really thought about every meaning every single word can have and the way it clicks with others through the sentence and my result was ISTJ too!
And, after finding Frank James's channel I thought deeply about it and almost concluded that I usually am an ENTJ but, in my isolation (detox from the daily rithm due to covid, maybe) I can also turn into an ISTJ or even, little times, INFJ -maybe caused by developing different perspectives and having a moment to focus in those.
But yeah, I said "almost" before because this is an interesting topic to me and I would like to keep researching to enjoy and have an improvement. I would love to explain this kind of topics to my friends (if only they asked haha).

I have to say I like how he kept picking appart the questions and addressing people's natural responses on certian questions, and I like how he summarized how these tests are flawed and are not a definite way to type one's self.
He's right, these tests tend to be too open ended and aren't a sure fire way of figuring out what type you are. In my opinion, who says your 100% 1 type? By human nature that's not necessarily 100% possible, as no two people are 100% alike, the same appliesto their personalities. Not to mention there's a multitude of different internal (learning disabilities, psychological stability, etc.) and external (external influences such as family or friends) factors that can attribute to how people perceive themselves and thus change their answers on their test.
I'm an INTJ-A, but I've also tested as an INFJ-A; however I lean more towards the former. This result is due to me taking the test a multitude of times and from collecting data on it.
I can for sure say I am both, as I have aspects within my personality that relfect the characteristics of the types in how I act, how people say I act, and how I respond to certain scenarios.

  • @ginhai314
    @ginhai314 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

Oh it's strange, in the French version of the test we have totally different questions
And it's "normal" that some people don't had the right type, my sister took the test four times, and never had her real type (she's ISTP, we found it by reading all the descriptions of each type, and look at fictional characters who are similar to her)
But for me it was right, I did it twice and each time I got INFJ (and I think the INFJ description suits me a lot)
So ... If you think you've got the wrong type, maybe just read the descriptions of other types to find yours!

I think that test answers and test approach should both be determining factors, and you approached these questions in an ISTJ way (at least the part I saw. I confess I fast forwarded to the results after awhile😂).
I think that nature may produce a type, and nurture can produce a variant: i.e. I'm an INTJ and can totally relate to your skits internally, but my external interactions (thanks to upbringing and social critiques) are not nearly as stoic and dry. Just the fact that you compile all of this mbti information and successfully turn it into such accurate characterizations seems very ISTJ to me.

To the new mbti readers who asked me why, it is proved by Carl Jung himself. Suppose you're INTJ when you're overstressed u can be seen as ISFJ.
(u guys think inxj inf. func is se so they overindulge, yes by eating, drinking, etc. Not how se dom use their body n outerjoy tactfully. For the real most part If they're(infj) overstressed since they can't really healthily use their function excluding 2ndfunc, they forcefully stand at what they've already figured out or 'what dey deem is true using their inept Ni('inept' used since dey're overstressed)' and stoic on those false beliefs(lack of Ni and Se, Ni dom=extremely intuitive, Se dom= very perceptive esp infj opp. Estp since they have Ti besides dom ni or se)I'm not talking more before u do more research.

Frank just nailed it with 'The socially acceptable answers demanding questions', 'extreme questions', and the questions that could pick on the person's ego/self-esteem that definitely will conditionate the final result. Even if tests claim there are 'no wrong answers', Frank just proved that actually they demand it with psychological tricks in the questions, and a lot of people don't even realize that when taking the test, including me. I think is the difference between someone who really studied for long time MBTI functions and regular person who just take the tests not knowing much about MBTI and easily can be manipulated as Frank said. That's why Frank says is better when you try to get more knowledge about MBTI functions and with the time and experience, you will have an idea to know your type, than taking online tests that might be conditionated and give you a non real result. Although I think Frank could make a better test just getting in the point of the functions without ambiguities, moral and psychological conditioning, would be awesome if Frank can make an online test. :)
