- Today on the TH-cam Channel we cover if you were to have 5th Gen Engine failure and needed to swap out the engine could you put a 4Th Gen Engine in its place ? If you could what parts have to be changed, are the engines different and finally will the electronic work?

What engine mounts are needed? Did you move the 5th gen frame mounts?

If I'm leaving factory cp4 pump, (budget issue)would I need to do any tuning? If I wish to upgrade to cp3 pump, can I just swap gear from cp4 and install cp3 ?
in the process of this swap right now, we found out the hard way about the camshaft gear / sensor ... out comes the Engine again lol
Also I forgot to mention we had to change the flywheel aswell as I had a 5th gen Aisin and the 4th gen had a 68 😅
Was it because of the electrical plugs?
It’s my understanding that the 2019+ cam and crank sensors in same spot and transmit same signals, just they are a different sensor/ plug and at different depth for cam sensor. Meaning 2019+ cam gear goes with 2019+ timing case.

Zach Hamilton is the one who told me the signals were the same when he put it on the dyno.
So if one were to leave the 4th engine together and just retrofit the old electric plugs on 5th gen harness, it would run, it would just need correct tables in the tune for injectors and lack of return solenoid on rail?
@delorean831 Just make sure the the 5th Gen timing cover goes on the 4th Gen. We have only used the CMF (5th Gen.) controller on the 4th Gen Engines.
I can’t wait to get up there and get the c1 pkg on my 5th gen.

Do you need to have the other upgrades with turbo and such or could you do a 4th gen swap and cp3 swap and everything else factory?
You could keep everything 100% factory and swap it in !
So what are the results? We’ve been waiting, or did the owner fold like all other 5th gen owners and sell the truck?
On the 22s do you have to replace with new ecm to delete or can you still just use efi live or something else?
Got to send out your ecm unless they know some secret the rest of us don’t
Just learned something new about the EZ Lynk on my 5th gen. Injection Pressure (D) vs (A).
I knew about it for Transmission pressure but missed it for Injection Pressure.

So you put a 4th gen flat tappet cam in with roller lifters? Kinda got lost there. Flat tappet and roller cam lobe profiles are allot different
We installed a 4th gen cam into a 4th gen engine that is installed in a 5th gen truck sir.
How far out are you guys booked up?
We are scheduling into May / June sir !
My manual 68rfe from wp developments should be installed by then.
I’m wanting to get my manifold charger upgraded, possibly a d&j head stage 3 put on, nozzle change & some revisions.
Would definitely like to get it dialed in on the Dyno.
We could probably schedule earlier but I’d rather be conservative just in case, so anytime beginning august or after I’d like to be penciled in for.
How would the CP3 recall affect this swap? I already have the recall done but it blew at 167,000.

I’m in fl they fucked me on my 82k mile 2020 I can’t buy the cam or your turbo set up but I got a 2018 to swap can I use the roller cam if I just swap cam and everything and just use the 2818 short block
The 2018 engine will
Have to have the Tappet camshaft , adjustable rockers and 4th gen push rods . 5th gen cams are way bigger then the 4th gens . The 5th gen cam gear and front cover must go on 4th gen engine!
