Whisky.com reviews the Laphroaig PX Cask. The Laphroaig PX Cask is the first bottling of the distillery, which received a post-maturation in Pedro Ximenez Casks. After aging in American oak barrels and later transfer to quarter casks, the bottling received its final finish in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks.

I bought this on a ship from Norway because the price was very good and I wanted to try Laphroaig. Im a big fan of sherry finished whisky so I did not hesitate.. And oh man Im glad for that.. this whisky became my favorite..
Before this one I had no doubt that GlenAllachie 12 was my go to, but I finished this bottle sooner and have never felt more need to buy a new bottle afterwards. The price is a bit heavy though, buy I absolutely love this one and I will recommend it none the less. Cheers! 🥃

They don't say it has a maturation of 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels. They say the first maturation is in ex-bourbon barrels, just as the 10 year old..

I've never seen anyone else do the long swishing tasting method. You must have a very expensive overhead mic in that room because I can hear every detail of the swish action.
I’m not an expert but doing the swoosh does absolutely nothing to enhance the flavour / experience for me - if anything it makes it worse.
Depends for me. Sometimes it opens up flavors but some are too intense with the abv to do it
How PX stands compares to the Sherry Oak??? Anyone?? 😁👍🥂🙋🏻♂️

I wondered that myself. Maybe he meant to say medicinal. Sometimes I wonder whether reviewers just recite a litany of flavors associated with a particular brand. Who knows.
