    I've got a Triple Wood, bought in 2013 at the distillery. Looking forward to try it, now after this review.

    I was so enchanted by this video 3 years ago that I bought 3 bottles of this. I liked it until it got about 2 3rds the way down, then it became a chore to drink. When I purchased the Kilchman Loch Gorm, that whisky was basically this whisky done right.. loch gorm was smoother and though around the same age as this one, tasted much more mature, creamier, more intense smoke and sherry, sweeter, didnt have this yucky aftertaste which becomes apparent after drinking enough Laphroaig, it (loch gorm) never got boring and was/is such a treat. To the experienced palate, many flaws will be found in this triple wood. You might like it at first sip, but likely that will change.

    To me it's like someone lightly charred a oak 2x4 then stuck it in a bottle.
    Lovely stuff.

      can you explain the difference between this one and the quarter cask? i don't think Horst mentioned it

    • @girlcrazy7
      @girlcrazy7 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this one has been finished in a sherry cask which adds complexity if you like sherry and wood spice, but i am not an expert.

    • @bleebloe
      @bleebloe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fair enough! would you still recommend the 1/4 cask to the triple wood nonetheless?

    Great review. I'm flying from Bangkok to Denpasar tomorrow - I'll get a bottle of this if they have it at the duty free stores at Don Mueang airport. Been wanting to try it for a while, even more so now. Thanks.

    I actually don't find this to be all that "Smokey," but rather very heavy on the peaty, medicinal notes. I agree however that it is quite special.

    • @jackedkerouac4414
      @jackedkerouac4414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you swish it and swirl it? Bc wow the smokiness is quite pungent if you do

      Horst, I would suggest that you say answers and comments are available at...instead of will only be given. Will only be given comes off as a direct ploy to drive traffic to the website instead of simply being helpful.

      Don't get this glass, look more like wine glass. If you are a scotch lover, keep the glass that's OFFICIAL for scotch drinking, it's called the "Glencairn glass". :-)

    Im outraged by this video that promotes Laphroaig triple wood! This is pure Scottish heroin. I've spent the last few years doing favors in ally ways, and robbing my friends and family for money to support my triple wood habit. Shame on you sir!
