Eddie and the Cruisers one of the best movies ever made, and the soundtrack is the best ever made-if this guy was promoted properly he would be a household name
Wow! 30 years after the original recording and Cafferty sounds amazing! He and the sax player are the standouts here. On The Dark Side has to be one of the best tunes written for a 'fake band'.
Sorry Bruce Springsteen, but THIS is the man you only WISH you could be! John Cafferty and his band are the BEST thing to EVER come out of the Jersey Shore!
This is definitely an iconic movie. The music is incredible good actors. No matter when you hear these songs you just want to dance definitely sing along. Movies like these are not made anymore.
He’s right up there with the Springsteen. He might have never hit the heights as he did. But he should know he’s up there and deservedly so. Great talent.
When you live in the shadow of the Boss and pattern your sound after him, you don't get where you want. Had he been ANYWHERE else in the USA, he would be a massive hit. The garage band sound, the signature voice, some epic freaking songs. Lost on B-rated movies and soundtracks only the faithful know. I still listen to them.
These cats are still out there touring, kicking ass and not taking prisoners! 40+years and still rock no roll relevant kids! Check out their LIVE shows near you or in Rho-Diland this summer! Request this song too, lol Cheers JC&BBB
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band concerts were always one big party. He keeps the audience going just like Peter Wolf did w/J. Geils Band. Every concert was a House Party. Saw them many times here in New England where they're started. From the Rhode Island Shores up to the Maine Coast, they're Summertime shows would blow you away.
A great friend of mine painted a killer portrait on his 84 shadow and named it after this tune,,,it remained an inside joke for a long time.. good rock lives to inspire!
I've been hearing this recently on Sirius radio. My sister loved the movie, I got to like the song. These guys are rocking it. Sounds great. Love this music!
So fortunate to have seen these guys twice. Once at the Tampa Theatre right after the movie came out and 20 years later at Beaver Creek Colorado. Top tier rocker and roll!
Man this takes me back to those good old days when the city allowed you to cruise and park to talk to the pretty girls and get lucky every now and then. You can't do that anymore. The good old days are gone
I have seen them at the iconic casino by the sea, in Falmouth, Cape Cod, they were amazing, those were good times!!! I now live in Florida, I heard it's all gone ,commercialize and ruined!!!!
Yeah boyee!! saw these guys in Rhode island. One of the best 2 shows I've ever experienced! The other was Michael Graves. And I've been to many shows!!
Eddie and the Cruisers 2 is my favorite movie of all time. I have been trying to find out what the name of the song that is sung when he is at the cabin up in the mountains and has the heavy saxophone part. what the heck is the name of that song? Ugh.
I met him, he did a show at our college and before the show he went and checked out our weight room, when he came back to the locker room I was getting stuff out of my locker including two liters of Kamikaze. I didn't know it was him, we passed a few words, I offered him a swig of Kamikaze, he passed, so I met with some friends and sure as shit I watched him take the stage and was like "I met John Cafferty!!!!!"
I lived in SomersPoint when the movie was made. My teenage neighbor was an extra in the bar scene. Her scene was however edited out. The Brown Beaver band played at the last beach concert in Somers Point this year. What a group , plenty of life and great history. 2 song of the set and people went crazy. Same sax player !
Dear flashy 5150 when the song first came out on the radio on a.m. I thought this was Bruce Springsteen and e Street band but it was John cafferty in The Beaver Brown band. He still has the sound as Bruce Springsteen. I like the movie Eddie and the cruisers. It was a great movie and at the end you see him with the beard looking out than the mirror and you see his reflection and he's still alive he just left because he couldn't take any more because one of his saxophone players died at the movie at the movie and he just had a nervous breakdown he just went up to Canada the flea to get out of the music business. But when the second movie came out he came back and Eddie lives. I like the second movie when it was called Eddie and the cruisers part 2 Eddie lives.
Very cool tune just like tender years and many more... Should hear the interview Abt how this song came into being & how this band got the movies tracks... Pretty awesome
Yes, It's The same recognizable voice slightly cracked but still the same tone as it has been since the early 1980's! That doesn't say much for Lyin' Melissa Vandella!
This band is just as good as some of the better known bands, yet you only heard a couple of their songs played on the radio! & those are seldom heard! Seems like someone really dropped the ball!!!
It wasn't good music,it was music for the soul, great amazing wonderful.i feel bad for kids these day's when music was more than money it actually ment something.
great band and awesome performances. I gotta feeling that Springsteen's management had a hand in keeping this band from exploding to the top. best band of it's kind to come outta the east coast

where in the hell has rock like that gone too !!!! we that grew up in the late 60s thru the early 80s were so lucky
isn't that the truth!!!
Look up a band called LeBrock. You'll be surprised how retro they legitimately sound.
@@BulletSponge178 why did you recommend that band? They are nowhere near John C.
I think I just saw a guy *shred* a saxophone...?
it's still there. we just get old, lazy and lose our passion to search out new music.

I love the sax in this song. Michael doesn't get enough credit for his ability on the sax.

John's voice hasn't changed! It's still absolutely fantastic!
Might be better
Love those sounds , those were the times and tunes nobody will ever create again ! My kind of times. Got the DVD s and the cds.
Thinking the same thing 🤔
John Cafferty is from north providence rhode island.. he went to high school with my aunt..

To me he was a better talent then Bruce
@@mustang268 yes
I didn’t even like springsteen before I found out he was communist trash
I like both but I prefer John hands down
I've always had this suspicion that Bruce ripped their style off. Seeing as Caffrey predates Bruce

The real Eddie!
Have heard folks call him "The poor man's Bruce Springsteen".
I think of Bruce Springsteen as "The rich man's John Caffery".
