    I know most here won't care but another thing to mention are bump steer/roll center kits. All your current suspension components like ball joints and tie rod ends are meant to work with just factory height. Lowering can upset the car's roll center and increase bump steer. There are kits out there for each types of cars that can help correct these when lowering a car. Obviously, they won't work when you lay frame BUT just for a moderate drop, these kits help a lot. And of course, you won't really feel a difference until you take the car to the track or even auto-x.

    also remember lowering your car puts extra stress on bushings and mounts. Be sure to take your wheels off every so often to see how things are looking down there.

    If you are new, and you want to lower your car...... Know how to angle your car to get over speed bumps and down/up ramps (driveways/car garages/etc). You cant just drive straight over/down/up things anymore most likely... Know your roads! Stick to the lanes youre used to. Potholes, dips, bumps, can and will destroy something on your car. I never drive slammed anywhere that I dont know the road and I always air up for sketchy roads (thank you air suspension). If you dont have the luxury of air bag suspension, pray. Unless your area has immaculate roads.. Then I envy you. Just some tips.

      Michael Hookano I measured ( getting out measuring from the rocker with a tape and I did get some strange looks in the parking lot / from the side walks ) my local roads and most bumps are 5in or less so I put my lowest part point @3in from the ground. The apron for my driveway is a bit steep until the sidewalk, then it flattens right out. Pulling my AMG into the drive was hairy the first couple times. There’s only one angle where i can pull in and not scrape the shit out of my front diffuser, and it makes my rear left tire come off the ground like a foot lmao. When i get my coilovers and put them on, im gonna need to get some planks or I’ll rip my bumper right off

    He missed probably one of the most important details when lowering your car lol "pre-loading the bushings" 85% of ppl don't do this and it's harmful to every suspension component on the car that has a rubber bushing lol ie loosening the control arms ect when lowering the car jacking the suspension up after u get the ride height set then tighten the components because rubber bushings work within a certain range lol lowering a car or even raising it for that matter puts it out of range and most alignment shops won't advise u on suspension pre-loading it also helps ride quality as u won't be riding on binding bushings but this only applies to factory rubber bushings not polyurethane because in most cases the poly bushes are free floating within a sleeve

    One thing you missed. If your car has a "reverse rack" it is there by design and your car is balanced to that stance. Dont be like me. I tried to adjust the rake out of two cars and wondered why they were bouncy in the front end for months. They wouldnt hit dips correctly and front to back was not n'sync. Also dont nessesarily go for high spring rates or even coilovers. A progressive lowering spring and a nice Blistein, Koni, or even KYB if you must should always be your first choice unless it's a car for the track, drifting, show...
    A lot of times the front and rear fenders are not even on purpose and manufacturer balances the car accordingly. The evened out flush look with squared zero gap all around is clean looking but is not possible on some platforms without upsetting the balance of the car. Remember it isnt just putting an extra 100 lbs on the front, you are also taking 100 lbs off the back and its plenty to make the car have a rock and wierd bounce. BMWs, Lexus, and Porsche I have found are all picky when it comes to the weight distribution. Especially with higher spring rates. It will make the front leap first over bumps then the back will jump up and come down. Instead of the whole car accepting the bump evenly. Weirdest feeling I ever had. Cars rear end would sway bad at high speeds. Dangerous shit. I am sure you could swap springs out and compensate for any stance but the negative stability feeling it puts into the car might be hard to adjust out of it without going through hell and back.
    Just my 2 cents.

When I look up other lowering springs (I don't plan on doing coils, as I don't want to throw a whole bunch of money at this car), there's not another brand that gives it the type of drop these springs do. Another mistake is cutting the coils instead of using lowering springs.
    Lowering springs ALSO maintain the same ride as
    your OE. And If you see a guy bouncing all over the place after lowering, it's because he CUT his
    springs instead and you increase the spring rate about 10
    percent for every coil you remove. Then a much better shock is needed when
    you start hitting 20 and 30 percent rate increases.

      Not a bad kit! If your upgrading from OE this would be a good option. Have you checked our site we have some pretty good pricing on suspension kits! www.fitmentindustries.com/suspension

    what i learn is stance is never go along with max performance, you had to sacrifice one or another....you might have stance car with serious build engine BUT you will never had maximum traction out of it...thats why i kinda leave the stance life and go with the maximum performance...which is kinda make me sad and happy all together...

    • @_Greasyzoku_
      @_Greasyzoku_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      normalsalaryman I think you have to find the sweet spot for your own personal taste of lowness & performance. You can be stanced enough that you like fitment & still drive 90% the way you like to.

    • @saikotikvixen2922
      @saikotikvixen2922 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      normalsalaryman, or you could buy an affordable car to stance. It might be expensive (of course it will), but it will spare you the heartache.

    • @normalsalaryman
      @normalsalaryman 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      i love my car so much when its stanced out and stretch tire, but since i swap my engine and having 800whp, the stretch tire is kinda screwed me, and my car both got bullied on the road lmao, Lossing to cheap car that im not suppose to lose lol..and i had enough so i decided to throw in wider tire on a 10inch rim..and i had to lose the camber and raise the height too..sure the car is a different animal right now, but the lowest i can get is still kinda high for my taste..around 2finger tire and fender gap..

    • @normalsalaryman
      @normalsalaryman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      at first i thought buying another car to stance is brilliant idea, but in the end it goes the same like always..i had 6 car at the moment, 2stock daily car and 4 stance car at the beggining but now they all a race car..why they all turned a race car? well maybe because i kinda hate lossing on the highway, thats why i always do some mod on my engine and somehow i also cant stop modded my car lol...highway is a poison for me..

    • @_Greasyzoku_
      @_Greasyzoku_ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      normalsalaryman yea that’s too high for me, I’d just get stiffer suspension or upgrade to stiffer Swift Springs. I’d try for that meaty tire look that most e46 M3 & S2000’s have with 1 finger gap

  • @dcrasta
    @dcrasta 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lowering your car and not addressing sway bar endlinks is a quick way to having wierd suspension.
    Also like he said cheap coilovers are usually over sprung and underdampened .> Or their compression dampening is mismatched... > or the high speed compression is not aggressive enough and low speed compression too soft..
    Factory suspension has the benefit of R&D as well as QA and QC that MaxSpeeder and all the other rebranded china suspension doesn't have. But YMMV [your money may vary] .. I'd stick with factory dampners and lowering springs until you can save up for good quality coilovers.

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      10/10 agree I would much rather save up over time and get a really nice quality set of coils rather then something cheap to get your car low fast.

      End links is currently my problem with the 2inch drop that my Flex Z coilovers came with. Adjustable end links are such a small part but very crucial.
