This is Maen!! I haven’t seen anything like this and it’s so cool. Not necessarily my cup of tea because I’m very much a sporty watch guy but this is just cool! Especially that crystal!!!
Oh wow. This watch is stunning. Like another person stated, most moonphase are dressier so it’s nice to see a sportier style, and I even learned something new. Maen means “moon” in old Dutch. 🌛. Thanks for the great review!
I like that majority of the watch is brushed for me it’s the perfect size 36mm is ideal and I love that crystal and like you said the broad lugs. I own their Brooklyn 36 and I love everything about this watch
Really like the case and lugs. And I’m a sucker for a moon phase. The most romantic complication. However, in the video it looked like the chapter ring and the indices were misaligned. Not sure if that was just the camera angle? I’m aware it is a pre production but seems like a thing that a brand would make sure wasn’t an issue before sending it out for review.
I didn't notice it, it could possibly be the angle of the macro lens as I got in close. Thanks for pointing it out though, I will check it again myself 👍
I am quite convinced by your commentary on the impressive execution. Especially that bracelet seems very well judged, and also looks far better in footage than I expected from the product shots. The styling of the watch is using a combination of elements in the dial I could find pleasing, but altogether I am not so sure they work for me. Something on the dial seems off or ill-matched to me, and that quite brutal and sharply styled case with the more classical moonphase seem to pull in opposite directions. On the one hand side it makes it quite exciting, but I guess that on this occasion the sum is just not for me. Moon phases have been coming in fast. Among those with vintagey leanings I must say that it's the 35mm Raymond Weil that seems to resonate with me most. That's really towards the more petite end of the spectrum though and being an established Swiss brand and based on an award winning model, it attracts a more difficult to accept price. Of course it's also undeniably dressy, whereas this and the Loresum also permit a more casual or sporty wear in my view. Yet others, like the Mu:n, go more towards a sporty technical-to-tool vibe, like CW's moon glow, while Selten went more the essentialist dressy C1 Moonphase way. It's nice to see this diversification happen of a previously not that accessible or common complication, especially in mechanical pieces.
Love the design! I was going to preorder one when it was coming on the bracelet, but now that it comes on a tropic strap and the bracelet is 100 EUR extra I probably won’t. A rubber tropic strap looks goofy on a 40’s inspired dress watch
Interesting, this isn't the first watch I saw recently with some some design elements inspired by the Universal Polerouter. By the way, I love the typeface they used for the branding of this watch.
Really like the design of this watch Peter. Not a huge moonphase fan in general, but when it's done well as in this case, it can be a great complication. I know this is a boring and predictable complaint, but I'd still like to have 100m WR in a sports watch so I never have to worry about an accidental soaking. However, in reality the price is probably what would deter me from buying.
I have a Glycine combat sub with a moon phase and an auto movement that I bought new for a quarter of the price. Hard to justify the extra expenditure in my opinion.
Catching up on your videos after 1.5 months away… I love the 36mm and the moon phase, both a bold proposal in the current market. Having said that In think there’s a little too much going on in terms of design and in the whole it’s a bit incongruent, namely the disproportionate lug size, in my view totally clashing and unbalancing the 36mm case size and, as you mentioned, that crown. Also not a fan of the Polerouter track, despite being an absolute fan of the original. Just not tastefully used in this case. The price, well… you said it perfectly.
I think their pricing model changed from what you were advised as there didn't appear to be the €40 discount for the first 150 orders and it comes standard on a tropic rubber strap with the bracelet being an optional extra at €87. It didn't stop me purchasing as I still think it is worth the price.
Even though I normally wear 38mm and above myself, I actually didn’t mind this on the wrist I think the broad lugs gave it some nice presence Cheers Alix be well mate 🙏
@@PeterKotsa Manhattan 37 grey and cream white Brooklyn 36. I’m sure when they drop a dressier piece it’ll be straight in the basket. Thanks for the great reviews Peter 👍🏽

2 dimensional moon phase displays all look the same to me. Even just a touch doming to the moon would make a world 😮of difference. That boxed crystal is too tall.
i am sorry but the lugs with the watch looks hideous. They strangle themselves yet again. from the brooklyn with the elongated lugs now to this. not a huge fan of their new dwarfed logo as well. these two watches have classic size but their lug design seem to tailor more to people with bigger wrist wearing a small watch. not small wrist people. they could of made this into an integrated bracelet with that kind of brutalist look but the dial look like something else and it just doesn't go well together then they have to add in a sector and a moonphase?! how many things do you want to add to this? the last two things seem like an after thought. would have been done just without those two or either those three. but not all together.
Great looking watch. I think a black or dark burgundy alligator strap would look fantastic on this.
Oh wow, this is simply stunning! It reminds me a lot of Omega, Longines and JLC, just superb design and execution; I simply must have one.

That's a great combination of features and designs, looks really great
Lovely watch, beautiful video quality, I like the Salmon dial.
Fantastic watch. The only critique I have is that I think a bevel between the sides and the top of the lugs would make for a more refined look.
Looks really good tbh.
I think so too 👍

That silver dial looks great. Really helps the moon phase pop on the dial.
I think so too..good contrast
Just got the hudson 38 mk4 heritage, amazing watch. Maen is making some great pieces!
Wow that box crystal! The slinky brick bracelet reminds me of your past Omega with the sexy bracelet.
Very nice package Maen!
Correct 👍
I was unsure looking the first one I saw which was the salmon dial, but this simpler and cleaner design resonates better with me.

Nice size, beautiful dial, a complication I've lusted after and a price that's beyond my comfort level😢.
impressive at 1st glance
Very King Seiko looking case

Yeah I hear you, I sometimes miss the fact that some of my personal watches only have 50m and not 100+ to suit my lifestyle better
Thank you Maen for not make this huge. It’s perfect. I’d rather see a deployment clasp, but that’s forgivable.
Deployant. And it does have one.
Thanks Mr. Actual Factual. I guess I meant that fold over kinds. I think they are a little less femmie.
what a beauty

Away for 1.5 months, hope everything is ok 👍
Pete knows what I think of the small/lady's watches, so I better not comment any further.
😂
Sometimes no words are good words
From the front it reminds me of the modern King Seiko case.
I feel like the lugs would look better if they were less boxed, but this is still amazing regardless!
Hopefully it fits, so many watches have Hobbit sized bands these days :(

Wow, ok I wasn't aware of a price change..nonetheless, enjoy the watch
PS which colour did you get?..cheers

Small watch for sure.
This is cool, there are so few good sports daily-wear moonphase watches! Great episode my brother! They need to come out with a 40mm version...

I love 36mm, beautiful hands and a really fantastic bracelet. But unfortunately... I don't like moon-phase watches.
That’s a fair call
Too much going on for my personal taste but I do love this company. I own two of their pieces.
Cool which models?

Yes..👍
What is the best moon phase watch in the market right now under $1k ?
I mean, this seem to be up there honestly.

I say Peter how about reviewing Instinct time as I suggested a few weeks ago??
Hi Brian, I have had a look at them, not really my cup of tea personally...cheers
i wouldnt mind having one pete
Its got a good vintage vibe about it
Also for a 36mm it surprisingly wore very well on the wrist 👍
So it's a moonmoon?
😋😂
I would get this if it were a 38mm or 39mm, not being picky but I just think it will be more proportional to the bracelet.
Finishing’s too raw that I’d rather see it over the counter than having it, wished it had more polish surfaces
Not sure a bracelet works with this watch. It seems like a pure dress watch, it probably should have a leather strap.
36mm? Do they make those in men's sizes?
Wish this was 38 or 39 mm
2 dimensional moon phase displays all look the same to me. Even just a touch doming to the moon would make a world 😮of difference. That boxed crystal is too tall.
Maen is pronounced like Maan in Dutch. aaaaah...
It is not "main"...ae is pronounced aaaaah.

Looks nice but too small.

Not gonna lie, those lugs look hideous. That is really a big reason to not get it. Why are they so fat?
