    Hi Jordan, would it make a difference if I connect the DJ console to the DI-box using XLR-1/4"TRS cables instead of RCA-1/4"TRS? Cheers!

    Awesome! I watched this before in don’t remember if it answers this question.
    Mixer, to Canon m50 (3.5mm input) …probably 20’ away maybe a little more. How would I / should I connect the camera to a Mackie Profx10v3 (the xlr outputs are being used for monitors, so I was thinking we used the 1/4” stereo outs ) -this is for a live class with small PA, but we want to capture the audio into our Canon. That’s the goal! Thanks for any help

    if I can work with a mixer just next to my controller, do I still need a DI box?

  • @lilyioti

    @ 5:20 - What if the DI box doesn’t have “left or right” and instead uses channels, like “channel 1, and channel 2” with only one 1/4” for each channel? Like the Behringer Ultra-DI DI20?
    Would I just use a RCA to single 1/4” ? I would love some advice with this.
    Your videos are very well made by the way !

      Same ! I bought this DI DI20 and it doesnt work. I go from my FLX4. I have rca to 1/4’’, put it in the box and come out of it with rca to then put it in my PA system.
      It doesn’t seem to work :(

    I dont know if this is right or not but I use rca to 1/4 inch on channel 1 & 2 on the yamaha mg10 and adjust the compression knobs. And it raises my volume and my bass. I discovered it by accident and still use it till this day.

    in terms of sound quality, is it better to convert unbalanced rca output using a DI Box, or is it better to use an unbalanced rca to xlr cable without a DI Box? or is it the same sound quality? Thanks

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You will have much higher reliability using a DI box or audio mixer and using as short of a RCA cable as possible.
      RCA to XLR "Works", but you're going to notice static and interference at the worst possible time and it can be embarrassing at an event.

    Question. What if the club's mixer has xlr outputs for mic and line? would I need to plug it in line or plug it into mic if I'm using a di box?

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you're connecting XLR from your DJ controller to the XLR inputs on the house audio mixer, you're fine. But if you're using the 1/4" or RCA outputs on your controller, you need a DI Box. Generally the club will provide one, though.

    hy there ! I'v been looking for your videos sibce the begginning of my Dj mini carierr. Very usefull infos clear and easy to undestand videos! I like what you do. About this video i need your advice as an pro tech ! I have the follouing setup that i use: Hercules inpulse 500 controller (unbalanced output 6.3 jack) a mixer ( for now the Alto Zmx 862 main mix balanced or unbalanced 6.3 jack output) and from there active woofers (only balanced in/out) and active speakers that can handle balanced/unbalanced signal. I undestud that adding an active DI BOX after the controller the signal goes ballanced into the entire system, but it will that help increasing the overall strenght of the sound? (in the same gieven conditions, same settings) Does it makes a difference in sound Quality? I undestud that if a active speaker is built to work with balanced signal is better to use balanced signal for best performance, regardless of it's capacity to also handle unbalanced. Hope my english is good enough for you to undestand what i mean. Thanks alot! Respect

    Great video, thanks. If you be kind to answer 1 question.
    What is best way to connect DJ controler FLX 10 to DI box and what box is best to use. Since output of flx 10 have
    1 MASTER (XLR)
    1 MASTER (RCA)
    1 BOOTH (1/4 inch TRS Jack)
    1 PHONES (1/4 inch stereo phone Jack)
    3.5 mm stereo mini jack x 1
    I want di box after my controller and before my external analog mixer from there i go to speakers.
    Or should i go with shielded link cables like Vovox to secure connection between controler and analog mixer from interference?

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would skip the DI box all together. I would use a XLR cable to run to your audio mixer, then use a XLR to TRS adapter to go into the line level input on your analog audio mixer. Less expensive, same great result.

    In regards to the ProFx ... the output of the Audio Mixer to your Speakers. Is there device you can connect similar to a DI Box to clean up any additional sound going to the speakers?

    • @kettnercreative
      @kettnercreative  ปีที่แล้ว

      You shouldn’t need anything between your mixer and speakers. There isn’t anything ‘to clean up’, unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re asking?

      @dcclubhousemusic ปีที่แล้ว

      No you answered my question … Thank you. I was curious since there are so many devices out there used to filter out unwanted noise, I thought that there may be one used as a filter between your speakers and mixer.

      If your controller is connected to the mixer through an XLR cable and phantom power is turn on .. will a DI Box protect your controller?

      @@dcclubhousemusic This is another reason to use the 1/4" Line Level Inputs on your audio mixer (like the video suggests). Phantom power only goes out through XLR, it isn't connected to the XLR inputs.
