Our first full B-17 crew. For now only eight players fit into one, but we are on it. The ball turret shooting everywhere, but where it's supposed to, is being worked on, too. I am sorry for my long absense, Christmas was a really busy time for me. Happy new year everybody ;)

Hmm interesting, do you plan to get all 10 crew members? If so how would one incorporate the Radio Operator and Navigator positions? They look to be (to me at least) like sort of boring but also difficult stations to use properly in 46'.

Once the microprose bomber crew comes out if you SOMEHOW need more gunners ive got a decent amount of experience over the 8 or so years of such and id totally be up for shit like this. Binging out on all of the bomber multicrew videos and god i've missed this stuff.

Making a proper Pearl Harbor mission is not an easy task.
Death by a thousand cuts! That was a fantastic vid guys.
That was how a lot of US bombers were lost. A flak or fighter hit might not destroy them outright but the damage meant they could not keep up with the formation. Then the isolated bomber got hit again and again and finally succumbed.
Fishyy would have survived if he'd been wearing his lucky 3rd flak jacket.

I miss the IL-46 days. I stil have mine with JGSME History MOD. I flew the Pacific alot. I even recreated the attack on Yamaotos Betty. I flew the whole thing with my friends. It took a long time. I think we flew for 4 hours. This video brought back so many greate memories.

Is your pilot always in control or does he use autopilot? Cause if he's in control it's impressive how perfect on sync he is with the rest of the bombers
There is no autopilot for pilots in multiplayer. Btw, we do have two pilots.
I remembered we had 5-6people in one B-17 in online task. Some are pilots,some are gunners. Very fun memories. No other flight simulation have these functions

Well you should install it! But the AI guuners are ruthless, much more than human players as you probably know. One of the game weaknesses,😉
@@LeopardIL2 Unless something changed with gunner AI in the last 7-8 years since I've last flown '46... I welcome the more potent AI gunners that don't shoot at friendly bombers like in Great Battles. :)

Its a shame crew can't exchange positions in the game it might have allowed a little more defense against attacking fighters when one gets injured or becomes deceased or the ability for a co pilot man a gun position. I wondering if Ubisoft or a modder would consider seeing they could do a crewed allied and Axis bomber version for IL-2 similarly to what currently Microprose is doing for the redux B17 Mighty 8th sim.
It could add another spring in the step for flight simulation, particularly if you could fly and crew various bombers of various the nations and theaters of war.

Pretty sure we can enable alive players to crew dead player's guns. Do note, that when a turret gets hit and the gunner dies, the guns usually are also damaged, so re-crewing such a position might not be useful.

Dont forget to close the bomb bay doors after bombs away! In RL it has an impact on aerodynamics!

Why were you flying with flaps down halfway through the video?
Crabby decided to lower the flaps, because he couldn't keep the nose up high enough to stay at altitude without them.

I've wanted an Operational/Tactical game for Bomber Command's night-ops (1940-'45) for years...and I'm a Yank. I guess it's just easier to model daylight ops.

Over all after listening to that b17 video and the guy told all the bad points and the good points about the b17 .they lost b17s that just went down with no battle damage at all, but my name sake the same thing.just Hazzards of business. And then maybe the b17 can take more battle damage and under certain circumstances by chance stay in the air to make it back to base . And then the b17 broad wings are more stable. And the b17 was easily flown. And could fly higher . My name sake could fly a lot faster and farther than the b17. It has 2 Bombays to 1 Bombay . The bombay doors roll open and roll closed . There is more space inside. And the Davis air foil wings at the top of my name sake all make the Consolidated B-24 Liberator an awesome improvement over your b17.

Bots. We edited them to attack in more realistic ways.
has anyone ever 'fixed' that ridiculous sun glare? I can imagine that kind of glare in Siberia in winder when the air is full of ice crystals but everywhere else on the planet? Should be much closer to just the regular sun disk, maybe a bit of glare around it, and that's it- not blotting out a whole 1/3 of the sky! :P
Doesn't the sun get brighter the higher your altitude? Fewer air molecules to diffuse the glare. That's why climbers on Mount Everest always wear sun goggles, I think.

@@_Braised : No. The sky gets darker with altitude as you get closer to space, but the sun gets brighter to look at.

During the video Crabby says he wasn't aware of them still being open. He aknowledged the mistake himself already.
@@Fishyyy I most likely missed that snippet of dialogue but it was very entertaining anyway...I was wondering what happened with the crew at the very end of the water ditching as the screen went black...did they survive because it sank very quickly although I did see some life rafts pop up.
There were three life rafts, because the pilot, left waist and the navigator survived. The navigator cannot be played yet, so it was an AI survivor.
Btw, Marcom tried to tell Crabby about the open bay doors, but he was too unsober to say it correcty :D
@@Fishyyy I can relate to that as I would certainly appreciate the effects of zipping in a good semi buzz although being very cognitive of the fact that your abilities to perform stressful tasks so as to not impede the safety of your crew and yourself.The fact that you hope you survive 25 missions with minimal odds in your favor would also bend your mindset.Drinks are on me fellas...Salute
