I don't think Corbyn really understood FPTP. Right now a lot of the left-wing channels who I agree with on the fundamentals like Turn Left, No Justice and Novara Media are fixated on this idea that the only reason Corbyn lost was because some people in the party were against him. I do take issue with those people who betrayed him, I am against the more right-wing elements of Labour like Wes Streeting and if he got sacked from his position right now I'd be a happy man. But the thing is, the truth of the matter is, Corbyn got about 200 odd seats and gave the Tories a huge majority with which they wrecked the country. Starmer did lose votes overall, but he got an even bigger majority than the Tories did in 2019 because he understands FPTP, he understands how you win seats in our system when dealing with a media climate that is mostly right-wing, almost entirely right-wing in fact. I wish it was Corbyn who was our PM, but unless he was more dishonest about his intentions and threw in some more right-wing idea he never would have won over middle england, and so he never would have won the election. It's just one of these unfortunate truths, middle england would rather have a Tory or even a far-right populist like Fromage than a leftist, that's just the truth, nobody has been able to change that for generations.

I totally agree with what you are saying about hard line attitudes in this country, and especially the left, needing to be more accommodating to differing opinions. And accept that radical change can't be implemented overnight. I personally became quite anti-Starmer due to what I felt was deceitfulness (happily saying one thing at one time, then saying another without taking any accountability for the change - ie. 10 pledges). I want a leader that is willing to make bold choices (taxing the wealthy to invest), and feel Starmer is unwilling to do that. HOWEVER, you're right - it's not gonna be solved on one election night. Step 1 is get rid of the Tories. Step 2 is applying pressure on Labour to commit to a few key transformational policies (we can already see pressure to lift 2 child benefit cap, and pressure to take a tougher stance on Netanyahu's horrendous assault on Gaza). Politics then becomes a debate about how to find the real resources the money is intended to buy (everything from nurses to concrete - and electric charging points) and NOT the money itself which can always (and is always in war time) be created by keystrokes on a computer.

Do i think reform voters views make sense, no cause not imo they are absolutely lunacy but these people deserve a chance to have a voice. The right wingers have some wild views from mine but i will still listen and take it in my stride and move on. As much as im left leading we need to have some middle ground. Green have some great policies but the money isnt there so we have to take the rough with the smooth. Would i rather see corbyn or rayner in no10 yes but unfortunately the majority didnt want corbyn and we have to accept that and move on.
The main role of the British government is to protect the borders and keep citizens safe, and you thinks this is insane? 🤣
@@mr.thegreat557 yes racism and massive unfunded tax cuts aswell as cuts to public services are insane. The NHS is pretty much held together by immigrants. I was in a&e the other day for appendicitis 90% of the people that treated me were foreign. Let's not forget our birth rate is on the floor. We need to get that up asap. If we can then in 20 years we could cut immigration but now it just isn't possible.

I think you're doing a bit of ant1-wh1tism, you seem to think a conversation about borders = rac1sm.
What race are you thinkIng of?
NHS is still 80% Brit1sh & the 20% migrants workers, doesn't cover the 10 million we've seen migrate in the last 3 decades.
There was no mention or number of migrants in any manifesto relating to "birth rates" because it's not true with Ireland being swamped but one of the highest in Europe for children.
Don't take the right as "lunacy" but try & defend your ideas , whilst trusting a politician to carry them out

@@HA05GER the birth rates are low because the mass importation of cheap foreign labour by Tony Blair suppressed wages and pushed house prices and rent through the roof, making it very difficult for British people to breed and flourish in their own country.
I don't want to be 1 of these petty people that's contemplating unsubbing because of 1 thing, but I do have a couple of things to say. Firstly, I am a bit weary of your position of the Starmer govt because he has a horrendous track record of hypocrisy and his lot needs to be called out for proposals to build all on green instead of grey belts, and also, if you take a look at KernowDamo (who does an amazing job of holding Starmer to account), you'll find out GB Energy won't actually be full public ownership. As for Trump, like you I'm generally ignorant on international politics as I think I'm being a bit intrusive on it, but I honestly couldn't care less about Trump because in the end, he's insignificant to my life.
Not fan starmer but least get things done unlike torys David Lammy spoke quite canpasanate about Gaza started talking lot since but least our human rights is safer under labour if Torys got back in only taken more flights rwanda be blocked would left European convention on human rights ended up like Russia belerus human rights which protects us all labour Likley give better rights workers while torys been trying strip us of our rights
Don't worry/laugh VanMan ... they also have the office of Black Rod in the Australian Parliament
