Considering the author released a new version due to issues with diff 4.1, would you consider releasing a guide how to properly update or reinstall the new version? I followed your guide on how to do a initial install, but after installing the new version through the add-ons, I keep getting the same issue. For example, I've noticed certain models will cause blender 4.2 to completely lock up and requiring a force quit when trying to simply move the model around in object mode. Even after adjusting various settings to require less resources.
To Update or Reinstall, you basically just delete the Diffeomorphic Script folder in the Daz Folder and then uninstall the Addon in Blender. You then reinstall the new Diffeo version, using the same steps in this tutorial. Make sure to create a new .DBZ file when you reimport into Blender.

I just would like to not have to go through this whole process each time I need a pose if I could just import them all at once instead. If you do give this a try, for some reason, at least one of my pose sets worked fine when importing as pose library, but 3 other pose sets did not, and I have a few more that I just haven't checked yet, but I don't even understand why there would be a discrepancy or why they'd work differently. So I would just say, attempt it with a few different poses/sets if you have them available to you to see if you're seeing the same things or something. If you have any information on this and/or why this might be happening it would be greatly appreciated. This is the only video I've found that clearly talks about importing poses specifically, let alone importing as pose library, so just taking a chance to see if I can get any help. Thanks.
This is an issue that you need to inform the add-ons Developers about, which is what the pinned comment is for. I've never used the import pose library feature, I copied and pasted all my pose packs files into a Single Windows Explorer folder and then created sub folders for each pose pack, I then made a shortcut to that Pose folder using blender's import bookmark feature. Now when I import a pose I just select the armature. Use my import pose shortcut key then go to that bookmarked folder and I have all my poses at the ready.
How to do that under a german windows OS? Seems Diffo and Blender are looking for the file name "users" and do not accept the german word "Benutzer". EDIT> Changed Windows to US/OS. still doesn|t work.
Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the luxury of having an install tab in add-ons, as you have, only "install from disk" from a drop-down arrow, consequently when clicking on this the next box only gives me the choice of selecting "download from disc" not down load to "add ons" any ideas?
That does the exact same thing. If you read the pinned comment it will explain further. Blender's layout changes with each update but the core features stay the same.
Does it work for 4.2.2 as well? I did everything accordingly and but the character just won’t load once exported from Daz to Blender in my scene. (Update it does work with the Genesis 9 Base) But it doesn’t work with my own avatars that I created in Daz3D, as it just keeps on loading and nothing happens
The Stable Version is labelled to show what Blender Version it was Designed for. You can try 4.2.1 or you can us the pinned comment to try the development version, if that doesn't help, contact the devs for help using their Bitbucket forum. Also, try importing without any morph presets to see if their causing an issue.
I figured it out, you renamed the DBZ file when you saved it to something that was not same as you Daz Scenes name. Make sure DBZ File and the Daz Scene have the same name.
Hi! I'm wondering if this tutorial is still up to date because I ran into a problem... the diffeomorphic zip file does not appear when I go to add-ons>install-from-disk. I am 100% certain that I have followed every step correctly up until "Installing to Blender" because well I just can't find the diffeomorphic file to install as my add on...
The zip file should appear in the "Install from Disk..." menu. The Stable version file is named *import_daz-4.2.1* unlike in the video. Also 4.2.1 now installs as an Extension.
i facing some error in blender while importing models that i got from daz market , they get imported but they don't move its says traceback error and the models which are default in daz they work fine i can change pose and move them easily can you please tell what causing this is it type of the rigging been done on it or its weight panting error
I don't know what you mean, You cannot fine the Diffeo File where? 1. On the Website? 2. On the Download Page? 3. The Zip File which has downloaded from your browser to your system?
@@ArmouredAvian I believe he's talking about at 2:13 Earlier in the video you showed us how to download the Import_daz zip folder, which was very clear, but you didn't show us where to download the Diffeomorphic Zip folder. You just jumped to you showing where you have it downloaded, but didn't show us where to download it.
Ok I see where to download it. You go to the same site he shows in the video at 0:49 but instead of clicking "Stable version" you click "development Version as a Zip File." Then Click "download Repository" and that should be it 👍
The *Import_Daz* zip file and *Diffeomorpic_import_daz* zip are the exact same thing just with a different file name. Your overreacting to a simple visual continuity error. Everyone else understood that when I said click on the "Diffeomorphic Zip file" I meant the Import_Daz Zip File they had just downloaded from the website.
@@ArmouredAvian Wellll, I'm not overreacting per say, I can't speak for the other guy. But idk if you checked the site since uploading this because both download links are not the same in terms of folder structure. The folder name u get when you click "stable version" doesn't have a subfolder like you showed in the video with the name "Diffeomorpic_import_daz" but I do understand the Contents of the folder are the same. It just wasn't clear from a continuity stand point. Maybe your other viewers didn't have any issue because when they tried it, nothing was changed. 🤷♂
Follow each step, but every time you export to blender everything appears except the character, the clothes, the pose, the hair appear but the character does not appear, any help? blender use 4.1
Try Blender 4.2 LTS, Diffeomorphic Stable version number corresponds with the blender version It's designed for. If it still doesn't work check your Global Settings links. Also read the pinned comment for dev support.
@@ArmouredAvian Actually just figured it out. I just had to uninstall the newer version 4.2.1 reinstall the previous version 4.1.0 and now it works just fine. I'm using Blender 3.3, so maybe that's why it was giving me issues.
They should be included with a addon by default. If they're not there, you will need to try and find them or create one manually for your desired Daz Genesis type.
Sir please help! I have an issue and im stuck, the issue is when i easy import the character and go to world properties and change background color instead of changing background color it change the character color and the background is transparent. why this happend!
The background will change to transparent because the DBZ file is importing the environment settings, which includes diffeomorphic's HDRI. Untick Transparency in the Render Settings. Then go to the shader view and set it from Object to World and delete everything but the Background color Node. Also your character is changing color because the background also acts as an ambient light source.
I'm using Blender 4.1 and installed the 4.1 importer. I've done everything that is recommended, exporting the paths and importing the Jason file with the paths. When I try to import the DBZ file exported from Daz, no DBZ files appear in the list of files to import, only jpg files. I try to force the import by pasting the file name with the extension and an error appears.
@@ArmouredAvian Do you mean that version 4.1 doesn't work properly? Should I use the latest version? Should I download and install the latest version of Blender so that everything works as it should?
@@ppgf There were a lot of issues with 4.1 The development version has the most bug fixes. I would recommend using 4.2 Blender. Not sure if 4.1 and the new diffeo version work well together.
I was able to get the model in no problem, but there seems to be a like a line that is kind of almost reflective along parts of the skin on the model, how could I fix this?
When I import a pose, everything moves and work, but the eyes, mouth/teeth, eyelashes, and eyebrows all don't move with the pose? Am I missing a setting somewhere?
First make sure all the FACS settings were ticked when you imported the character. Poses affect the bones only, the face is affected by morphs, make sure the effect morphs box is ticked in the pose import menu, that should import your expression settings onto the character. Though, I tend to manually set the expression morphs in Blender rather than in Daz.
@@ArmouredAvian Thanks for answering. This plugin is really good. Could you tell me if it is possible to import and have the same morphs that we have in Daz in the sidebar? Not the position ones, but the ones for anatomy, characters, etc. I searched a lot and couldn't find them, not even in the plugin's documentation. While I'm at it, I'd like to ask another question if possible. I'm sorry, but it would help me a lot. I like the colors of BSDF better, so I import through it, but my characters end up with a dark line between the textures, for example: from the leg to the torso, etc. Could you help me, please? Thank you very much.
@@shimmuusYou can favourite morphs in Daz and set Diffeomorphic to import those favourited morphs into Blender. As for BSDF, I'm afraid I don't use that material mode as Expanded Principle has a more Simplified shader node tree.
This is a solution for a bug that happened to me (it's stupid I know). but if you lower the subdivision to some part of your character's mesh in daz and export it, diff imports it with the rig separated into parts, very strange. just put them to the same number of subdi.

Now when I import a pose I just select the armature. Use my import pose shortcut key then go to that bookmarked folder and I have all my poses at the ready.
@@ArmouredAvian Oh alright, I'll go ahead and do that, thanks.
How to do that under a german windows OS?
Seems Diffo and Blender are looking for the file name "users" and do not accept the german word "Benutzer".
EDIT>
Changed Windows to US/OS. still doesn|t work.
@@ArmouredAvian I did try that, but nothing happened; the file did not go to add-ons.
@@life-n7e Again the pinned comment explains the adding is now an Extension, it now appears there.
@@ArmouredAvian Nope, its not there either, I think I need a tutorial on how to do this.
What if you don't have a scripts folder in the daz 3d library folder?
Then create one.
Also, try importing without any morph presets to see if their causing an issue.
i get a error messages saying mesh fitting set to DBZ (JSON) what did i do wrong?
I figured it out, you renamed the DBZ file when you saved it to something that was not same as you Daz Scenes name.
Make sure DBZ File and the Daz Scene have the same name.
Amazing content
How do I remove the location locks when I import to blender ??
Not sure what you mean?
Will you ever do a tutorial on animating after importing a character with diffeomorphic with expressions and poses?
I'm not a dedicated animator, so it's something beyond my skill I'm afraid
i facing some error in blender while importing models that i got from daz market , they get imported but they don't move its says traceback error and the models which are default in daz they work fine i can change pose and move them easily can you please tell what causing this is it type of the rigging been done on it or its weight panting error
Thanks for messaging me in Insta, I see if I can help you find a solution.
bro i cant find the diffeomorphic file anywhere you just jumped to you downloading it where is it ????
I don't know what you mean,
You cannot fine the Diffeo File where?
1. On the Website?
2. On the Download Page?
3. The Zip File which has downloaded from your browser to your system?
@@ArmouredAvian I believe he's talking about at 2:13
Earlier in the video you showed us how to download the Import_daz zip folder, which was very clear, but you didn't show us where to download the Diffeomorphic Zip folder. You just jumped to you showing where you have it downloaded, but didn't show us where to download it.
Ok I see where to download it. You go to the same site he shows in the video at 0:49 but instead of clicking "Stable version" you click "development Version as a Zip File."
Then Click "download Repository" and that should be it 👍
The *Import_Daz* zip file and *Diffeomorpic_import_daz* zip are the exact same thing just with a different file name.
how can I attach the hair to the model?
If you're using Daz hair you attract that in DAZ studio. If it's hair made in Blender, just parent it to the upper neck bone
@@ArmouredAvian ty
bro fac expressions was not showing in morphs what i have to do plz reply....
4:08 Make sure you set the morphs to load onto your characters.
Oh thank you so much..😅@@ArmouredAvian
Follow each step, but every time you export to blender everything appears except the character, the clothes, the pose, the hair appear but the character does not appear, any help? blender use 4.1
Try Blender 4.2 LTS, Diffeomorphic Stable version number corresponds with the blender version It's designed for.
If it still doesn't work check your Global Settings links.
Also read the pinned comment for dev support.
@@ArmouredAvian
That doesn't help me much, but hey thanks anyway.
anyway to biuld controller automatically?
Whenever I export gen 9 characters, the bones aren't connected. Any fix for that?
Pinned comment, Ask the Devs
@@ArmouredAvian Actually just figured it out. I just had to uninstall the newer version 4.2.1 reinstall the previous version 4.1.0 and now it works just fine. I'm using Blender 3.3, so maybe that's why it was giving me issues.
Each Diffeomorphic version is designed to work with the latest Blender version
@@ArmouredAvian Ah I see. That makes sense.
I don't see the operator presets, is that included in the download package? or do we need to create them self
Use the pinned comment and follow the instructions.
You would have to send me a link to a picture. I can't do much if you describe the problem to me.
Thanks for this tutorial! Help me a lot! Noob question. For some reason i can´t select the eyes to move them. Can you help, please?
Are you in Pose mode?
@@ArmouredAvian. Yes, i 'm.😢
@@shimmuus Not sure, I'm afraid you will have to Google the question
Does this work with the Gen 9 Characters?
Yes
I add 3 head morph to Favorite in Daz. In blender i choose export Daz fav morphs, only 2 head morph exported, why?
I'm not the author of the Addon bro!
Use the pinned comment and ask the Devs.
@@ArmouredAvian
Its okay, i just ask, maybe somebody know. Many morphs, if some not worked, i select similar others if it possible.
Faces Expresions Not Showing...
You have to use a Geneses 8.1 character and load them in the Blender import menu.
@@ArmouredAvian Okay, Thnks
I export the file to a certain location and then when I open blender it doesn't show up.
What file? Be more specific?
Is this the Daz Importer .zip?
The Root Paths File?
Or the DBZ file?
@@ArmouredAvian the dbz file doesnt show up no matter where i put it
@@CRUCHEMSANCTAM When you export it, or then you try to import it using Blender?
This is a solution for a bug that happened to me (it's stupid I know). but if you lower the subdivision to some part of your character's mesh in daz and export it, diff imports it with the rig separated into parts, very strange. just put them to the same number of subdi.
You should post that in the Bitbucket bug report so the Devs can fix it.

Please do a more detailed tutorial on how to make a custom expression in DAZ and then save it and then be able to import it into Blender... I have been trying this all evening with no success. btw. Im using the latest 4.2 Daz to blender from Diffeomorephic. Note .. I was using a Genesis 9 figure in Daz 4.2.2. I tried saving as a pose. But it did not save anthing but a .duf file and I am not sure about all the options that need to be checked or uncheck...... Update. Got it to work with a Genesis 8.1 figure.. Seems the problem with expressions is when using Genesis 9
I would recommend you make the expressions in Blender, rather than in Daz. I found that the Power Poser is not importing into Blender correctly.
I left a link in the description to the ongoing development version and their Bitbucket bug report if you want to ask the deves.
@@ArmouredAvian thanks for your prompt reply and tutorial. If you get a chance to try it with a Genesis 9 figure. Using a simple tweak to a pose and do the save as process, let me / us no if you found the same problem I had
@@manfrombkk I sent a bug report to the devs about Custom PowerPose Expressions not importing onto the character.
It turns out the Developer had never heard of the Powerpose feature in Daz Studio until now. He's now taken steps to make it compatible when importing into Blender.
As Powerpose uses custom morph controls which his current version was not set to detect.
too much errors in blender 4.1 cant import even a single model some fac key error fac not found, works fine in blender 3.6. 4.1 is a nightmare for most of my add ons blender is getting ruined day by day.
I made this tutorial using 4.0.2. I left a link to the ongoing Development Version and the Bugs & Issue report in the description.
Try installing the Development Version and if your problem persists post it in their bug report and the devs will give you an answer.
@@ArmouredAvian I don't have much time for all these nonsense. I just import in blender 3.6 and then save the file afterwards I open the file in blender 4.1 and start my work without any problem. Irony is in blender 3.6 I am able to import any model any morph anything and everything from daz using 1.62 version of deffeomorphic where as in blender 4.1 using latest addon I can't even import a basic model of a robot 🤖 what a waste. This latest addon is waste of time and blender 4.1 is broken too. Good were the days of blender 3.6 but now every adon updates are for 4.1 even many of them have reached till 4.2 and 4.3 alpha as well. I don't know why addon developers hurry so much and make us people lab rats every now and then. We are artists not some programmers for bug testing. I suggest other people too to use blender 3.6 as intermediate to import files without any errors and then open the aved file in blender latest whatever they are using. Thanks for your reply anyways 🙏🏻 nice tutorial keep up the good work.
I'm using 4.1 and the latest Diffeomorphic Version and I have literally no issues and I've imported tones of Daz models into Blender.
If you "don't have the time" to ask the Devs for help then you are most likely rushing the tutorial and missing important steps.
Make sure to delete the Diffeomorphic Script in the Daz folder and remove the add-on in Blender before you reinstall.
@@ArmouredAvian look dear, i spend 6 hours approx already in figuring out whats wrong now i cant do it as my time is money. and the step you are telling me to do that was the very first step which i did after that i tried everything and nothing works. clean install reinstall python coding everything. the error is same key FAC not found. where as the latest addon works smoothly in blender 3.6 for some reason but not in 4.1 may be its interacting with some other addons in between as i have literally 500 plus of them activated at the same time so who knows whats the issue here but am happy making 3.6 blender as a bridge in between and working. it takes like 2 mins max to import and shift to 4.1. so its better to wait for devs to rectify such issues in future updates. the time i would invest in investigation this add on i would make 100 plus dollars in it so not worth my attention. thanks for reply though. take care.
I've already told you to go to Bitbucket links and try the Developer Version and post your Error message in their Bug report page.
You clearly have the time since you're writing giant paragraphs of text in my comment section.
If you had spent that time doing what I told to do in the first place, you would have a Developer assisting you by now.
