@@Open3DLab Now I'm struggling with a simple shape key 😂. Cannot import any because this add-on change the vertex order. Do you know how to import a custom shape key?
Unless I misunderstand your intent, you will want to load and apply any shape inside DAZ and save it with your model, rather than import it separately.
@@Open3DLab actually I just want to use a morph from Daz, inside blender. But cannot use the obj because it has different vertex order. I guess there is a simple way to import using the add-on. Thanks for reply 😃🙏
It has recently been brought to my attention that the official Daz-to-Blender bridge has been completely overhauled. I've found myself using it so I can port over all the morphs I want with the figure. Yes this makes for a really large blender file but I have the storage capacity.
Does this work for Blender 3.5 or 4.0? The "Import-export: Daz Importer" Add-on appears to be installed, but the MHX_rts Add-on does not appear in the list to be installed when I click on the ZIP, instead, a blue message appears at the bottom of Blender. I have some models where I need to change the IK to FK or something like that, (I'm still new to Blender and don't understand much about these things) and I can't install MHX. I've already tried it in Blender 3.5 and 4.0.
Great and easy to follow. Only issues I find after selecting your settings when importing is that the mesh seems to be able to stretch like chewing gum when posing! And there's also no pose limits - but that's not really a issue for me.
Bruh.... thank you so much. I'm brand new to this and all the free models that seem to be higher quality require this but like every other walkthrough has failed me. Thank you.
I did everything the same as you and set it up correctly. I have checked that it works a few times, but when I transfer it to blender, I get such a problem. My character is genesis 8 female. What do you think is the reason for this? ''some assets were not found''
It's been a long time and I can't remember exactly because I watched so many lessons and did projects on it. But I think I could watch other tutorials and solve it with smaller additions. But look at other importer lessons.
Hey there. Everything worked perfectly up until I clicked the "Export to Blender" option in the file menu in Daz. When I click it, the file menu goes away - and then nothing happens, when in the video you clicked it and a file browser popped up for you to specify where the file is going to be saved. I've tried using the regular "Export" option as well and the option to export it as a .dbz file isn't there. Any suggestions? What did I miss?? Update: Never mind! I looked in the Daz Studio Formats folder/My Daz 3d Library/Scripts/Scripts, and clicked the Diffeomorphic inside. Those same five scripts that showed in the window to the right had "export to blender" as the top left one. Double clicked on that and it allowed me to save the .dbz file. Thank you again for all the help!
It would be good if one of you could explain how to properly put the figure from the blender and from the movement and everything into the daz studio, it would be nice
Can you use this plugin to make a morph and send it back to Daz or is this just one way? And if it is, is there anyway to make a morph and send it back to Daz on SubD 1 or does it always have to be SubD 0?
Subscribed and liked! This was extremely helpful!! I'd have never figured this out on my own good Sir! On a sad note... Trying the "Easy Import Daz" option, I'm using the latest Blender 3.4 and the latest import plugin v1_6_2) I've got most of it 'working', no error message most of the time. But no textures are loading (is there another plugin I need that will load those?). I'm brand new to Blender, so will now go look at tutorials on animating so I know if the lack of animation tools in the scene is because I haven't selected something =p (I've used Max and Maya before, so not a total noob)
for whatever reason when i hit easy import and select duf file blender pops up error overlay with bunch of paths noted as some sort of python script errors? any idea what might be the case?
This is going to be really good to work with. I've tried exporting my DAZ characters to Blender via FBX but it almost never works. Considering that my entire cast (thanks manually porting all the models I have over to G8 via a 3D scanning software) are DAZ figures now, I needed an alternative.
great video! once i opened the file in blender and sculpted on it again, is it possible to change the pose in DAZ and transfer it to blender without resetting the newly sculpted parts?
So I have merged the script folder in the Daz files and the options are showing up under the scripts section but they are not in the file tab underneat export? When I click the button in the scripts section it allows me to export fine. Am I okay to do it this way or will that cause issues later on in the process?
please help! i got the character into blender but im unable to move anything when im in pose mode. what am i doing wrong? well im able to move the rig but the mesh in not moving with it
What do I do if Blender says Light "Light" settings insufficient to render this model correctly? The model's outfit comes out as a dark red instead of the normal colors
The bridge exports a lot of the aspects of the model differently and lacks some of the features that the Diffeomorphic addon has. As I understand it, the bridge exports a crunched, selective version of the model in FBX and OBJ files, which are then loaded into Blender using the regular import tools. Blender's FBX importer is kind of crummy, so they need to work around its limits. The Diffeomorphic addon reads the model data into Blender directly from the Daz native .duf and .dbz files, and reconstruct the model in Blender. It also has advanced options for grafting attachments, fitting outfits and pre-processing models. It can even automatically adapt the model to Blender native rig types, rather than using the same one each time. It's a much more complete package.

This tutorial is pretty bad. You're saying a lot of things without even showing where the stuff I should find are. Best example is at 5:42. You say to "hit Load Root Paths" but don't even show where that button is in the menu. It was cropped off screen. I have issues with visual processing which causes me to not see something that's right in front of me, so in tutorial videos I usually follow a person's cursor to easily find what they're saying. Because of the issues I listed there, I was stuck for about a minute looking for the button to hit in that huge mess of a menu that popped up in Global settings. Then there's the fact you do things without any explanation at all. At 8:11, you switch the rig type from DAZ to MHX without even mentioning it. Only reason I saw you do that was because I watched your cursor go to the bottom right corner of the screen. Is that required? Will the model break if I don't do that? What about the extra dropdown menu that pops up? Do I just leave everything there alone? I don't know cause it was cropped off screen as well and couldn't see if you checked or unchecked anything! For the best type of tutorial, I recommend ALWAYS explaining things as if the people watching are total Blender noobs, such as myself who's trying to migrate to Blender from DAZ because I found out that DAZ doesn't support my GPU, so I've been rendering everything using only CPU. PS: That file "daz_hd_morphs" is missing from the dropbox now and I *_think_* that because of it missing, the models I'm transferring over to Blender are missing their entire body so that only their heads are there, and the textures are missing.
Hi, thanks for your feedback. There's a few points I wish to comment on. One must assume a baseline level of knowledge in order for the tutorials to not be two hours long and cost weeks to produce. I also cannot account for every visual processing issue or disability that a potential viewer might have. I will assume you can read, have used a computer before, and are somewhat familiar with Blender, and have some basic problem-solving skill. If I don't explicitly show something, but do mention it in voice over, or if you see it in the subtitles, I assume you can still follow along and read the UI on your own. I know it may not be as easy as me handholding you through the entire process, but it's not that difficult either. Next, it's worth to understand my process. I write the script, record the script as a voice-over, and lastly, record video of the critical steps as a simple visual aid. My screen resolution is 4K, but I record at 1080p, and I upload the final video at 1080p video. This means that the recording of the 4K screen gets crunched down in resolution. The reason why I then cropped the visuals in post, is in fact for readability - to scale up the on-screen text to make it more readable. This, together with the timing of the voice-over also meant sacrificing some visual steps. Furthermore, you are wrong to assume that I changed the rig type at all: perhaps the addon has been updated and the default has changed? This is certainly why the "daz_hd_morphs" is now missing from the dropbox. This type of thing is impossible to account for in these videos. I can not keep updating the video for each time the addon updates, or something changes in the software. TH-cam won't let me, and I have better things to do as well. So no, while I understand your frustration, I don't think I will incorporate this feedback in any future videos.
DAZ models already have a face controls when you import them, depending on the rig type you select. The controls may be hidden on layers which are accessible in the relevant UI panels.
@@Open3DLab i found it, you should make a tutorial on how to do the HD cause im assuming thats how you get the wrinkles in the skin when doing expression work
hey man! INCREDIBLE tutorial! :D i followed everything bit by bit and it worked great! the only small issue i'm having at the moment is, somehow when i import my model, it's missing textures? it imports the .HDR for some reason haha, but the body, face, legs, and arms are missing, it shows that they're missing in a message, and i've tried to put in the path to where the textures are located, but for some reason it still doesn't load them, is there anyway to set a texture path somehow in the Daz Importer? c;
Having the same issue! After doing Easy Import, the face texture of my model appears pink on render. I dunno if this is a file path issue, or a bug, but I have yet to solve it!
I have come across possible solutions from Diffemorphic's troublshoot page: bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/1198/missing-uv-map-when-importing-g81f bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/1754/activate-diffuse-doesnt-work-with-lie Seems like your texture issues might have to do with unique layered textures in your model known as geoshells & L.I.E (Maybe your model has tattoos all over, or make up & etc.) Haven't attempted to test the solutions I've linked, but check them out and see if any of the solutions help.
I can't move it too :/ I just can move the whole body but not parts like in the end of the video ... And the "HD Morph" file wasn't in the pack too :( Maybe that's the problem...
When I install the add on, it doesn't give me the checkbox indicating that the addon is installed. I've been over each step multiple times. I don't understand what I'm missing.
stable release 1.7.0 (4/27/23) does not have folder for 'daz-hd-morphs' -- is it no longer needed? Besides that, looks like setup worked for me on Linux, just modified the import paths to be in .wine instead of C:/
@@crummymudd8625 yeah right after posting my comment i tried it for myself and it works perfectly fine! thanks for the response though. This works way better than the Daz to blender bridge!
@@crummymudd8625 i ran into an issue though, for some reason my json file seems to keep becoming unlinked from from the file root. i have to re link it everytime my computer restarts otherwise i get errors when importing my models. It's super annoying.
This is great, but I run into a problem where my imported and rigged model has a separately rigged hair mesh and after merging, the hair won't move with the armature.
Awesome tutorial. I am new to daz, i have 1 question though. It seems my textures for the model I have show in daz studio properly, but in blender even the textures themselves in the model are grey. How is that possible? How do I get them to be colored the way they are in daz.
If I understand your question correctly, this might be a topic that's covered in Maximus Jandari's Advanced tutorial. That tutorial is linked in the video description. It will likely require some material editing either way.
@@Open3DLab Ill check it out, then, basically I bought a m odel, its textures show fully colored when I build the model in Daz. Yet when I look at the model textures, they are grey. I exported the model to fbx. When I load it. It shows the basic grey textures that came with the model. Doesnt show the rendered colors the model should be in. The way the daz scene showed. Just displays all the armor in the grey textures that came with the model.
@@LITTLEFisky you see whats weird is 1 I use an older Blender to do my work, but the actual textures themselves as well, they are also just grey, like the model i downloaded has all grey textures for the clothes, except the eyes and skin, those are colored, but the armor stuff is all grey. So even if I applied textures to a model, they would be grey. Yet in daz studio, they show colored the way they are supposed to, I do see the colors in a newer version of blender as well, but I don't need them to show colored in blender. I need the actual colored textures themselves. To be "COLORED"
thanks for that awesome tut... its working like a charm! :D just one question left... where i can find those finer facerigs that are used so often? all the presets and poses from daz have been imported so i guess i am just missing it somewhere :)
This will depend on the rig type and other options you select upon importing. For example, if you chose MHX, and imported all the phonemes and expressions, you get access to a lot of the presets automatically. To make the MHX rig more manageable, certain bones are grouped in specific layers which are hidden by default. You can find the rig options under the MHX tag, next to the DAZ importer tab. Here you will find the bone layers where the face bones hide, as well as a plethora of layers and other options. Like IK/FK switches.
If you want to be able to use expressions without loosing poseable face bones i suggest you to not immediately convert the Daz rig to MHX with the Easy import option. Import your model with the original Daz rig and before converting it, go to Advanced Setup --->Rigging --->Add extra face bones. If you do it after converting to MHX you may be encountering fonky behavior from the rig. Hope it help !
The tutorial needs a bit of update. newer version you have 2 less steps and some slightly different things. However I was able to use this to help set things up.
Hi there. Thx for the tutorial :) I have a question, maybe you or someone in the coment section could help. Whit the 1.5 version of the addon, when i imported the model and converted the rigg to MHX rigg, and then used the Diffeomorphic BVH Retargeter, it worked perfectly. But now whit the 1.6 version, useing the same proces, the retarget addon said that " some of the bones have the same X orientation: spine, back, pelvis " Is there any way to fix this? Cuz i dont want to use the rigify rig, i dont like it :/ i appreciate the help :)
That's a very specific question, which I honestly don't know the answer to! It might be worthwhile checking out if there's specific help articles on the Diffeomorphic blog, or asking in the #blender channel on the Discord. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Thanks so much. Daz to Blender bridge was really pissing me off. I found a tutorial that lets you use Diffeomorphic with AutoRigPro -= and you made the setup of Diffeomorphic very easy to follow.
I was contacted by a blender admin over in the forums and apparently the plugin is no longer compatible with the new version of blender and have no way of letting the creators know.
That is possible. Please check the requirements on the Diffeomorphic blog. It should say which Daz version the addon is compatible with. If the update is recent, and the addon hasn't been updated yet, you might have to install an older version of Daz if possible.
So if we make a framed animation in DAZ, for example 60 frames on 30 FPS, this won´t be exported and imported into Blender? Would be bad since the original DAZ exporter was able to do so but meanwhile is only a piece of junk
You can directly import poses using this addon, but there might be limitations to animation data. I honestly do not know, since I don't use DAZ for posing or animation, since I find interacting with DAZ directly extremely unintuitive compared to other programs. The workflow described in this video is more aimed towards getting the assets into Blender, and doing posing, animating and rendering there.
Most of daz model have problems when I bring them to blender, their clothes and hair are missing and their body turn black ,blender also say Daz Importer WARNING: Some assets were not found. Check that all Daz paths have been set up correctly. It leaves a txt in my document file. I am a new guy in daz, I really don’t know how to deal with it.

Having the same issue! After doing Easy Import, the face texture of my model appears pink on render. I dunno if this is a file path issue, or a bug, but I have yet to solve it!
I have come across possible solutions from Diffemorphic's troublshoot page:
bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/1198/missing-uv-map-when-importing-g81f
bitbucket.org/Diffeomorphic/import_daz/issues/1754/activate-diffuse-doesnt-work-with-lie
Seems like your texture issues might have to do with unique layered textures in your model known as geoshells & L.I.E (Maybe your model has tattoos all over, or make up & etc.)
Haven't attempted to test the solutions I've linked, but check them out and see if any of the solutions help.
Daz HD Morphs seems to have been removed or made obsolete.
How do I move parts of my character? it stays in the same T pose while moving and the hair does not move with the body for some reason
It does not work anymore properly
I can't move it too :/ I just can move the whole body but not parts like in the end of the video ... And the "HD Morph" file wasn't in the pack too :( Maybe that's the problem...
Can you make a vide for daz Characters to unity(with mixam animation)
When I install the add on, it doesn't give me the checkbox indicating that the addon is installed. I've been over each step multiple times. I don't understand what I'm missing.
Are you sure you zipped the addon file correctly?
It didn't work for me, I can't find my character in the folder
stable release 1.7.0 (4/27/23) does not have folder for 'daz-hd-morphs' -- is it no longer needed? Besides that, looks like setup worked for me on Linux, just modified the import paths to be in .wine instead of C:/
i noticed that too! i know its been a month since this comment but does it work without the 'daz hd morphs'?
@@DimiArt I think so, I was able to import and work with model, seemed to not have problems
I have a question, would Diffeomorphic version 1.6.1 work with Blender version 3.1?
I do not know. Please read the documentation or contact us the add-on maker.
This is great, but I run into a problem where my imported and rigged model has a separately rigged hair mesh and after merging, the hair won't move with the armature.
The best🥰
@@AngelsModz in blender change the viewport shading to 'textured' on it's top-right
@@LITTLEFisky you see whats weird is 1 I use an older Blender to do my work, but the actual textures themselves as well, they are also just grey, like the model i downloaded has all grey textures for the clothes, except the eyes and skin, those are colored, but the armor stuff is all grey. So even if I applied textures to a model, they would be grey. Yet in daz studio, they show colored the way they are supposed to, I do see the colors in a newer version of blender as well, but I don't need them to show colored in blender. I need the actual colored textures themselves. To be "COLORED"
@@AngelsModz If you want to have a proper answer you need to be more precise what blender version do you use with what version of the addon?
whats dat model in the thumbnail
That's Anessix from Dota Underlords
thanks for that awesome tut... its working like a charm!
Forgot to mention; but you can find the sliders for facial expressions and morphs in the Morphs section at the bottom of the importer plugin.
@@Open3DLab thanks for all those awesome answers :) found them... this addon really works like a charm so far!
@@bobleponge7247 thanks :)
Dose it work for gen 8.1?
This don't work. I think you need to update this.
There is no hd.morphs file in version 1.7.
@@Open3DLab Its alright. Thank you for your answer. :) Gues i just stick whit the 1.5 version until theres going to be any solution.
Great vid! Is there any chance you'll make a video on how to import assets from Unreal engine 4 to Blender?
Did you check out this video? th-cam.com/video/Xz7iiMJJkAc/w-d-xo.html
@@Open3DLab Did now, thank you! Should've looked further.
great addon, only problem ive had from the renders ive done is that the hair looks like garbage
Why did you remove Maximus Jandari's advanced DAZ tutorial?
Because I got a channel strike for linking to adult content in the description.
@@Open3DLab Is there a way to link in the comments?
Thanks so much. Daz to Blender bridge was really pissing me off. I found a tutorial that lets you use Diffeomorphic with AutoRigPro -= and you made the setup of Diffeomorphic very easy to follow.
It does not work anymore properly
I was contacted by a blender admin over in the forums and apparently the plugin is no longer compatible with the new version of blender and have no way of letting the creators know.
Easy import daz does not detect DBZ files.
why?
Is it possible that it doesnt work with Daz Studios 4.2?
I set it up properly. Everything is good until I try to import to Blender. Then I get the collection box but no mesh or rig inside of it.
I'm having the same problem did you find a solution?
@@grasshoarjp7417 I gave up. But I give up easy so I wouldn't recommend giving up. lol
awesome,,but how to import G9 human
Um.... it uploads a plastic-looking red model of my character's clothes and hair, but no figure. Um... what am I doing wrong?
I only see an empty collection with the name of the file I'm importing.
Most of daz model have problems when I bring them to blender, their clothes and hair are missing and their body turn black ,blender also say Daz Importer
WARNING:
Some assets were not found.
Check that all Daz paths have been set up correctly. It leaves a txt in my document file. I am a new guy in daz, I really don’t know how to deal with it.
This means you did not setup the daz paths correctly. Please follow the instructions for the add-on.
7:31 what!? With clothes on it takes me 30 seconds to do this. And I've got an 4070
Why when i try to import, the dbz file doesn't appear?
The DAZ part of the addon is there to generate the dbz file. Make sure to save it in the right location, next to your .duf file.
Everything works well except hair doesn't have any morphs.
only problem i have with the blender bridge is the weights do not work properly. i was hoping this was going to fix that issue but it seems there are way more problems with it. glad i didnt have to pay for it.
