I got my v50x a few weeks ago and the microphone is pretty good! At first I played back a video on the camera itself and the sound was horrible, but I realized it's the speaker NOT the microphone. Playing videos back on my computer proved the microphone works pretty well and I DIDN'T have to turn the volume up much on the computer to hear everything. It doesn't do very good in lower light. One cool thing is it takes the same batteries as my 11-year-old sj4000. Everything else is spot on just like you said. Pretty impressive for only $115!
sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
In my opinion Akaso loses significantly only in two categories- audio and not being able to use distortion correction and EIS at the same time. Obviously biggest factor in choice is what you want to use it for. My only advice to people would be to adopt approach which I've learned from NASA - "Equipment doesn't have to be the best in it's category, it has to be good enough to do the job". After all after 2 , max 3 years from release it will be considered inferior and there's no point to spend lots of money for the one which is currently the best.
Overall, I'm happy that I just added the Hero8 to my arsenal. That stabilization is amazing, but I wish they had a better system for getting the microSD in and out. I always have to take the battery out and pop the door off. I love how the Osmo Action set theirs up. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it.
I love my Akaso. No regrets. Super value for the money. The stabelizer is fantastic. I use it on my motorcycle. Mic could be better. Why to spend 3 times more ????
@@MDCCCXLI EIS works well on high shakes. No complains at all. Look, if your ride is extremally aggressive off road, then you might see a bit distortion. But, for the price, you can't beat it. I am looking to order the new 8 coming out. You should see it on 4K TV. super clarity.
Just ordered the v50x for snowboarding and mountain biking for TH-cam. I really didn't want to spend the money on a gopro, I would rather put it towards whatever dji comes out with next lol. For the price, the v50x looks amazing, I can't believe the video quality looks almost as good as the gopro for a third of the price. Definitely good enough video quality for TH-cam and personal use. Thanks for this video, its probably the best out there for this camera👍
I have a V50X with firmware 20210928-V3.0 (purchased November 2021) which Akaso said is the latest. Sound is actually pretty decent and usable compared to older reviews. Using this camera to record Tesla FSD Beta videos. Videos on my channel on Nov 23, 2021 or later should have sound out of the camera mixed with VO's depending on the video. For $100 this camera is a steal considering the image quality. I appreciate its ability to record in low light.
No doubt the GoPro is better, but at 1/3rd the price, knockoff Akaso or Campark action cams are hard to ignore for casual users. Not needing a waterproof case and the Hyper-smooth is really appealing for my needs, but I could totally live with the Akaso and just bump up the contrast, saturation, and maybe even use Premier's warp stabilization in post...
This was a great comparison! I was looking for alternatives to GoPro for Christmas and I just realized that you are filming in Huntsville Alabama which is where I lived last year. One thing I noticed was the red dirt on the v50x doesn't look anything like what the real dirt looks like. The GoPro does a much better job on the color but for my purposes I don't think it is worth the extra money.
My Akaso vx50 looks just like my Gopro Hero 4 on 4k and 1080 until you get in low light. But my Gopro cost $350 and doesn't even have an Led screen (4 years old). But it is a tough camera. I almost bought the Akaso 7000 but went with the V50 because it had real 4k. The Akaso battery life has so far been excellent. The vx50 was $100 on Amazon.
I've been watching many of your comparison videos, basically, GoPro Vs. the world. Where every camera looses me, is with the Audio. It seems like no other company cares are audio quality. So, Looks like a GoPro it is. Thanks for your time in doing all these videos. This is my first action camera, and I think the GoPro 8 fist the bill for me.
Comparing a GoPro 8 with an Akaso is slutty, lol... But I understand the reason, that is, it's to show that with a cheaper camera you can get excellent results, in my case it's great, I don't care about the sound , because I will edit in Adobe Premiere and insert music, if necessary I bought the external mic from Akaso to break a branch, as for the colors and sharpness I will also edit them in Adobe Premiere's Lumetri, that is, for me what matters is the stabilization, because I will use a lot on mountain bike, thanks for the great review ;) Brasil-SP
I have a Hero 3+ and looking to upgrade to something more current. I am using it for filming Jeep trails, family vacations and general activities. What would you suggest?
The Akaso V50X is basically the same thing as my Campark V30. I have been very happy with the Campark, but I would still like a Hero 8, just have to save my pennies!
Hi Ben, the akaso can be used as PC webcam via USB cable? I d like to use it as webcam in obs for streaming, many chinese action have this function but the quality lacks. This V50 Is great
Hi Ben, what do you think about the shooting quality of the Akaso V50x at 1080p (30fps). I really agree with you about the super goof quality of the Akaso at 4k30fps but I find that this quality takes a big deep at 1080p ... ?
Great video, helping me still in my search for the right setup for my application. I walk dogs in packs and i think an action camera would be awesome way to capture this experience. I’m still having a tough time deciding if i want an action camera or 360 camera. My Budget is probably gonna steer me towards an action cam but i think Dog pack walking with an 360 camera has just got to be insane. Thanks again for another awesome video and if you have a suggestion or pony me towards a good starter kit for a budget of a $1000 that would be awesome. Thanks so much. I think drone like videos from an action camera with an invisible selfie stick would just be stunning options for sending videos to our clients for their pups sessions.

Lots of problems with camera, battery and the most Customer service, so yeah I don't want to spend 300 and not be able to get help if something goes wrong take care Grate video, thanks for that
I have a question about my akaso v50x. I am trying to take a night time-lapse, but I have a problem. I changed the exposure time to 5 seconds (under the photo settings) so that there would be enough light getting to the sensor in the dark environment. I tried taking a few photos and they turned out really good, but when I tried to take a time-lapse, it just used the auto exposure settings so the entire time-lapse turned out way to dark because the sensor was not getting enough light. I am able to change the settings for photos, but when I take a time-lapse it doesn't use my photo settings. (just to confirm, I am doing the photo time-lapse, not the video time-lapse) and ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Great review!! For me the most major improvement in the gopro were the more saturated colors, is there a way to change the akaso's settings or somethin to make the colors more saturated like the gopro?
Thanks for the great review. Need one for my sons qb training which is a pocket breaker so a good less expensive option is what you just helped me decide on.
Hi thanks for your rev :) . i'm looking for a action cam for spearfishing and motorbike. would you suggest v50 pro se? I'm just a worried about the lowlight underwater
I think a really good test would be the color grading of each action camera. That would be the ultimate test to see at what point does each image/video break and how far can we push the dynamic range. Just a thought!
Thanks for sharing your idea. The reason I don't run those tests, I'm trying to aim my videos toward the average user, and I don't think the average is doing much color grading
Good review. I do film my kids and dairy farm video with gopro6. Still in doubt betweem gopro and insta one r I wouldn't mind if they made the gopro a size bigger.

Yo tengo una esa akaso v50x y sí qué hace un excelente trabajo y aparte el precio es super económico para lo que puede hacer la cámara, me gusta mucho : )
what i really don’t like about the Akaso is that it needs a case to be fully waterproof which makes the screen completely uninteractable, but meanwhile the GoPro is already waterproof, no case needed, which makes it easier to use when at the ocean or a pool or while filming underwater. but still, for a 99$ camera it’s really good.

Great video I think you should make a video showing how the audio on the Gopro 8 is out of sync with the video...11 frames to be exact. Try using voice command (GoPro start recording) on 4 clips, the first clip is fine when you get to clip 4 it looks like a badly dubbed Kung Fu movie. 👍
1:53 we just going to gloss over the fact you got a lunker swimming right there? That "fish" looks like its about to jump out of the water and turn into a Luck Dragon!
Hello can you help me with advice, I have an akaso v50x with an external akaso microphone, but I can't record good sound. When I put it in the helmet, it is too loud and the voice is too deep so that it makes noise, and I tried a lot of positions, is it possible that there is a problem in the camera or should I try a better microphone according to your recommendation. Thank you very much.
I have 2 AKASO V50X and the only downside is how much the stabilisation setting crops the recording. That’s the main reason I’m thinking of swapping to gopro.
I use my v50x for riding my bike and use it for time lapse shots of clouds and what ever I feel. I really like it.

1:53 we just going to gloss over the fact you got a lunker swimming right there? That "fish" looks like its about to jump out of the water and turn into a Luck Dragon!
If you look at the trees and leaves the AKASO footage looks a bit sharper
Show de bola man, existe uma grande diferença de qualidade nas imagens.
I have a akaso ek7000 from 3 years ago i don’t use it very much I have a new camera
V50x is good if you need basic 4k for a low price, and video can improve after some saturation editing.
Sound sucks in the V50x.
How much post production did you do by chance on all of this footage?
I think the Akaso is great with just $99
These akaso cameras audio don’t seem anywhere near as bad in other reviews
I'm trying to find a action camera for fishing videos. My budget is kind of tight.
Sir,can I use powerbank on GoPro hero 7 silver??
Hello can you help me with advice, I have an akaso v50x with an external akaso microphone, but I can't record good sound. When I put it in the helmet, it is too loud and the voice is too deep so that it makes noise, and I tried a lot of positions, is it possible that there is a problem in the camera or should I try a better microphone according to your recommendation. Thank you very much.
I have 2 AKASO V50X and the only downside is how much the stabilisation setting crops the recording. That’s the main reason I’m thinking of swapping to gopro.
It was obvious to me but it looks amazing for $99
They have a new model just released which is pretty cool, dual-screens, that video review should be coming soon
Dang, that audio was hideous! Thank you for this review.
It's so bad it makes me wonder how on earth it made it to production that way.
