His father was a folk singer, I think. Kailash tried to do other things but eventually it turned out that singing was his natural talent to fall back on for livelihood.
Past: ( credit to real owner ) A couple once spent happy memories in this big palace like house. For some unknown reason, the female dies (not shown in the video, this is an assumption). The male lead goes through intense pain of separation. Thus, the song. He wants her to return to him and reignite the moments of love. He goes through their pictures and scribbles “come back soon”. Not being able to bear the pain any longer, he kills himself. Present: One day a rural woman visits the palace with a man. Not clear if the man is her authoritative husband or her father. As she steps into the house, she finds a rose being thrown at her out of nowhere. As she looks up, she observes an open window. Anticipating that someone may have dropped the rose from there, she climbs up. As she reaches upstairs, she finds no one. Now another rose is being thrown at her from downstairs where she previously was. But then as she looks down from the same window she saw from downstairs, she finds no one. Also, there is a giant pot in this house. It is being shown that she goes around this giant pot alone. On finding no one, she disappointedly walks back downstairs. Conclusion: It maybe such that the female lead has reincarnated. But not the male lead. As the woman walks into the house, she fulfills her lover’s intense desire for her to come back. It seems as if there is a reunion happening where though the woman is going around the giant pot alone, searching who is throwing the roses at her, she is actually fulfilling her lover’s longing to spend those happy, playful moments again. It is interesting that her eyes are blindfolded in another scene, as she is searching her lover, which is much like what is happening in the “present” (searching her admirer who is throwing the roses at her). At present, the reconciliation is happening at the ethereal level, though she is unaware of it (blindfolded). Reunion of lovers may not always happen in a conventional fashion. There’s a scene where the male lead of the past is watching the female lead of the present. No, I don’t think he is watching her on CCTV. For the male lead, it is a desire of her return being projected through his mind’s eye before his death, and in the present, his lover returning back in the form of the rural woman, is that desire being manifested.

So I came across this interpretation of the song on Quora a year back. I like this interpretation and the fact that it doesn't romanticize suicide infact it's kind of saying if he had waited little longer he would've got what he was longing for, She came back. Not just came back, she too was looking for him. Ps. In present scenes I think the man is not husband he seems more like parent age and demeanour wise.
@@ishanimishra8682 I agree. The video has a sad undertone. Every reunion does not take place in a conventional manner. She reincarnated, but he didn't. Although his last wish was fulfilled where he wanted his beloved to "come back soon". I am confused regarding the male figure in the video because the attire kind of blurs the age. Regardless, the girl was clearly searching for someone because she was aware of her subconscious calling.

Beautiful! I watched it many times, always wondering what the story could be. You gave an appropriate meaning to the video. It was really wonderful. There was a scene of a girl dancing and the male lead picking up something (I think ornament of woman may be ghoongru). I wonder what was that about? What do you think?
I don't care what happened in the video or What story they wanted to show, but the lyrics and voice of Kailash kher is enough to make this song a spiritual delight!!
Amruta subbed this so well. Even though I have been born and brought in India listening and speaking Hindi throughout my life, reading these subtitles in English has made the lyrics much clearer to me, they are so well subbed. Kudos! You know Indian lyrics are so intense that sometimes it’s difficult to understand them. I generally just learn lyrics and sing songs without sometime knowing actual meaning of specific line like in this song he said ‘tujhe jeet jeet harun’. It’s in basic hindi. But I didn’t ever realised till now that it meant ‘as I win u, I lose myself’. Subbers are not only making u understand the lyrics of the song but helping me to learn the deep meanings of the lyrics. Great job.
alternatively, this line "tujhe jeet jeet harun" could also be translated as: I loose to you after winning you (implicit meaning: so that i can win you all over again). The line which preceeds it: "mere din khushi se jhoome gaye rateein, pal pal mujhe dubayeein jaate jaatein" gives weight to this alternate translation as you can now interpret these lines collectively as: as i win you, my days dance with joy and nights sing and then i loose again so that i can relive this again and again in cycle (winning and losing everyday) and every moment that passes, i stay intoxicated in it ("forever" is implicit in this now as you take these lines together).
Amruta - thank you so much! You did sooo well! Hugs! I love this song so much. It always makes me cry because it’s so beautiful. The death/suicide at the end - the only thing I can think of is the idea that true love is either love for the divine or a fleeting moment that doesn’t last.
@@amruta.t692 He use words like "sheer suddenness of the move " 🤣🤣 lol ...but your translation was awesome ...Arnab cant do that 😂😂 and yeah i guess your hindi is also good 😂😂 ..pls sub all the music videos 😀 ..i liked this so much that i recorded this video for lyrics ❤️ ...
Indian songs lyrics consists of mixture of various languages like urdu, hindi, sanskrit, farsi, persian, english and more. So it takes the phonetic and poetic best of every language and makes it much more deeper and richer.
We Indians don't love songs only because of melody, but also lyrics has a major impact on us. We have special lyricist, shayars, shilpkars, poets etc who pen down these eternal lyrics. Thanks for reacting to songs with English translation although Hindi and Urdu have special place cant be matched. You can react to mushairas in which many poets present their poems, gazals, nazm and shayaris
This song is sung by a male from a female perspective. This type of singing is common in Sufi music. Another example is: "O saiyyan" from Agneepath movie...also a great song with amazing music and really great lyrics.❤❤❤
I remembered I had goosebumps when I first heard this song. I am watching it now, I still have Goosebumps. This song is a masterpiece. Kailash Kher is one of most versatile singers in india. ❤️ React to more songs of him . 👍
I see no comments describing the suicide, I came to comments to see people would explain it but it seems just like them no one understood it either.... Korbin, Rick you should probabably ask Kailash when you interview him 😝😝🤣🤣
Couple in old time found so many difficulties to meet each other, & guy died because he know they can’t be together in this life . But in next life they met again no boundaries n lived together.
When kailsh ji blend the word saiyann at the intro it feels like I jump into the infinity ,, where there is no limit , no mass , no gravity ,, where all the laws are failed only the voice the lyrics and overall the music save me from drowning ❤❤
This comment section is filled with some amazing humans. Want to wish all a happy life ahead! Let us have some more compassion towards other beings who are going through their own unique journey of life and its experiences. Take care🙏
Thanks guys for accepting my request and reacting to this song. This was my mother's favourite song that she used to sing alot. I wish she was here to see your reaction❤️
The band kailasa, especially kailash kher has a knack of coming up with songs meant to be sung from a female perspective, but are in a male voice. Such is the beauty of it's rustic and down to earth music❤️ hats off to Paresh and naresh Kamath for the awesome chorus Since Teri deewani and saiyaan are done, next ones shud be chaandan mein, tauba tauba, kathagaan, daaro na rang, albeliya, ishq anokha All are such precious gems, @ricksegall @korbinmiles and @thestupidfamily, you need to see these songs for sure!
@Our Stupid Reactions don't know if you know this, but this song is not just a love song for a woman/man. The lyric style follows an ancient spiritual tradition called Bhakti tradition, where the deity/god/divine being is considered a lover. Kabir, Mirabai are two of the most well known proponents of this tradition.
Its a song about a love and the seperation and the flow of the song is just reminding him of his love and the pain of seperation...so he just had to take his life as it depicts that the love of him so deep that it is impossible for him to live without it any longer...its kinda metaphorical expression to the feel of the song actually
Diehard music fans only listen to these singer's divine voice. No artificially corrected, no electrifying tune, no auto tune etc. They sing for their heart, from their heart, for others heart to be fulfilled with joy.
No matter after how long you listen to a song that you really liked, it amaze me to realize the fact that you never forget lyrics of such beautiful songs.

OSR on fire babaaay! one after another, my favs from 90s :D ooh how I spent weeks and years transcribing it and playing it with my band!! great melody, simple harmonies, great folk/sufi vibe!
Explanation : The village girl is unrelated but is metaphorically related. The song is not about boy and girl. It is perceived as per viewer interpretation. But as per sufism, it describes the state of a soul longing to merge with God. The song describes how the world is incomplete without the love that completes her. The sorrows and hardships it has to go through. Then it describes how beautiful the world would be when she is with him. The suicide is final step she takes (the boy in video) to mark the death of ego so that she can complete her journey... Hope that helps.
Thank you! Someone finally mentioned this. I think this song is beyond physical love, there is a beautiful undertone of the urge to unite with the supreme power. Very similar to the song “Tum tak “ from Raanjhanaa.
Video is just, so mood killer. This whole song is about love of a devoted Rural girl... Sufis many times Translate themselves into a women and sing songs of love for Thier lover.
Good you have discovered one of the most beautiful songs song by an amazing gifted artist.......this song is pure magic..no matter how many times u hear it u discover something more beautiful in it
Watch Sanam Teri Kasam movie. It's a love story, you guys will totally love it. Much More beautiful than fault in our stars. React to its songs by Arijit singh, Ankit tiwari. ♥ ♥
I can explain the dilemma for you why the guy cut his wrist as you were surprised. This is according to my understanding that in the past the guy and his beloved lived a very happy lovely harmonious life and for some reasons the female dies which is not shown in the video. That is the lady in modern attire she dies and he since then lives in her memories revisting all the good times spent with her in his memories seeing all those video tapes, thinking about the good times spent with her and it becomes so unbearable for him to live without her that he commits suicide.... Now cut 2 in present, a rural girl with some person I assume father enters in the same palace. It is is the same girl, who was the lover of the man and she reincarnated as a rural girl; however, he has not, his soul is still wandering in that place and after seeing his lover in the mortal world, he tries to interact with her by throwing roses at her... That's what is shown in the video someone is trying to interact with her, but she sees no one and wonders all through who is that?... It is also shown in one of the scenes where there is a big pot in the palace around which she is roaming to find the one interacting with her, and the guys soul is roaming around her thinking of all possible interactions he could have had in the mortal world if he reincarnated like her.... This is my understanding of the story...
Rick, you can make whatever you want of Sufi songs. I remember listening to this song when I was going to attend me beloved grandpa's funeral. From then on, this song reminds of him.

But I didn’t ever realised till now that it meant ‘as I win u, I lose myself’. Subbers are not only making u understand the lyrics of the song but helping me to learn the deep meanings of the lyrics. Great job.
So so true!
Thank you so much. Just read your comment ☺️🙏
alternatively, this line "tujhe jeet jeet harun" could also be translated as: I loose to you after winning you (implicit meaning: so that i can win you all over again).
Who is amruta?
I can't believe you still haven't stepped into Emraan Hashmi Songs Era. Try reacting to his songs once.
Trueeee.. He always got so beautiful songs
with Himesh as vocalist ???
@@arkadeephalder581 with any vocalist, emran hashmi songs have always been amazing with kk, himesh, some with arjit all are beautiful

I love how beautiful lyrics Sayeed Quadri wrote for his songs.
This song makes me think of him. Everytime. It was one of the first and only songs that did justice to how I felt. This is so beautiful.
Amruta - thank you so much! You did sooo well! Hugs! I love this song so much. It always makes me cry because it’s so beautiful.
The death/suicide at the end - the only thing I can think of is the idea that true love is either love for the divine or a fleeting moment that doesn’t last.
Thank you so much! 😊

Indian songs lyrics consists of mixture of various languages like urdu, hindi, sanskrit, farsi, persian, english and more. So it takes the phonetic and poetic best of every language and makes it much more deeper and richer.
Cheers to the days when Hindi music had soul.
We ourselves has made our songs quality worst by listening neha bhakkar paadshah songs
It still have some soul , but underappreciated
We Indians don't love songs only because of melody, but also lyrics has a major impact on us. We have special lyricist, shayars, shilpkars, poets etc who pen down these eternal lyrics. Thanks for reacting to songs with English translation although Hindi and Urdu have special place cant be matched. You can react to mushairas in which many poets present their poems, gazals, nazm and shayaris
What a voice khailash kher has man, absolitely stunning voice..
Now it's time to react to Pankaj Udaas's "Aur Ahista kijiye baatein". It's a gem.❤️
Yes..yes..yess....
YAAASSSSS
This song is❤️
Beautiful song
Yass.. They need to react to beautiful video albums from early 2000s
Kailash Kher ! One of Legend of Classic Hits ! 💜
I see no comments describing the suicide, I came to comments to see people would explain it but it seems just like them no one understood it either.... Korbin, Rick you should probabably ask Kailash when you interview him 😝😝🤣🤣
OMG Coincidence... even I don't understand the story behind it.. why he died but this song is very close to my heart ❤💕💖
Couple in old time found so many difficulties to meet each other, & guy died because he know they can’t be together in this life . But in next life they met again no boundaries n lived together.
Hahaha same here
HAHAHA omggg
Same here, I too was searching for a comment explaining the suicide.. but couldn't find one.
When kailsh ji blend the word saiyann at the intro it feels like I jump into the infinity ,, where there is no limit , no mass , no gravity ,, where all the laws are failed only the voice the lyrics and overall the music save me from drowning ❤❤
Lovely translation Amrutha, your subtitles made this entire song so much more beautiful ❤️

The band kailasa, especially kailash kher has a knack of coming up with songs meant to be sung from a female perspective, but are in a male voice. Such is the beauty of it's rustic and down to earth music❤️ hats off to Paresh and naresh Kamath for the awesome chorus
Since Teri deewani and saiyaan are done, next ones shud be chaandan mein, tauba tauba, kathagaan, daaro na rang, albeliya, ishq anokha
All are such precious gems, @ricksegall @korbinmiles and @thestupidfamily, you need to see these songs for sure!
Brought back old memories. Used to listen to this song on cassette tapes.
Old days
Great Job Amruta, I've also subbed some Nusrat Saab's qawwalis, tough job!!!
Tell me about it! It's difficult yet so satisfying to work on translating such songs!! 😊
@Our Stupid Reactions don't know if you know this, but this song is not just a love song for a woman/man. The lyric style follows an ancient spiritual tradition called Bhakti tradition, where the deity/god/divine being is considered a lover. Kabir, Mirabai are two of the most well known proponents of this tradition.
the translations were so beautiful!!
Thank you so much! 😊
This song is a journey in itself.... Smoothly up and down vocals 😍😍
This gives goosebumps everytime you hear hear it
Guys, react to 'Aadiyogi' song by Kailash Kher. Very soothing voice!
*~Palace appears~ - "RAJASTHAN??"**
Legendary song this gave inner peace to my mind and heart
Its a song about a love and the seperation and the flow of the song is just reminding him of his love and the pain of seperation...so he just had to take his life as it depicts that the love of him so deep that it is impossible for him to live without it any longer...its kinda metaphorical expression to the feel of the song actually
AMAZING translation!
Thank you so much! 😊
This one song itself was a musical school for youths back in my teenage days.
Master piece
Beautifully translated ❤️. Wasn’t easy.
Diehard music fans only listen to these singer's divine voice. No artificially corrected, no electrifying tune, no auto tune etc.

This was my one of favourite song for my singing competition list 😁😁😁
This songs make me cry....its out of the world... extraordinary....mind-blowing..historic

Watch Sanam Teri Kasam movie. It's a love story, you guys will totally love it. Much More beautiful than fault in our stars. React to its songs by Arijit singh, Ankit tiwari. ♥ ♥
Yess...I love it too.
This is my understanding of the story...
i think 2 affairs made him confused and he resort to suicide
Rick, you can make whatever you want of Sufi songs. I remember listening to this song when I was going to attend me beloved grandpa's funeral. From then on, this song reminds of him.
