My Dad is a military man and was a participant in this 'Kargil war' war and my mom had live seperately from him for 2-3 years while she was pregnant with me....She used to send him letters to like this since calling was not possible and keep waiting on for his replies....Sometimes they used to come quick but sometimes they didn't didn't used to come at all...He always used to send replies saying he was excited to come home after the war and hold his baby girl for the first time ^^

I saw this film in Mumbai in 1997. One of my favorite songs. It shows the feelings, hopes and aspirations of the soldiers getting prepared for War. Even my Dad was a soldier. A very emotional song and one of my favorite.
The only movie I watched twice in cinema hall is Boarder..All time great movie of indian cinema..
The reason this song touches our heart is because this is a reality for so many families whose sons, husbands, brothers, fathers are protecting us but away from their families... Respect !

Sir, I was an ex Services Officer ..... Indian Army never attacked or initiated any war or conflict ..... you knw a professional soldier never wants to wage an war bcoz he has seen the devastating effects of War ,,,,,, But in the Kargil conflict the the Pakistani Northern Light Infantry illegally entered in our soil and occupied our bunkers despite the Lahore Agreement signed by then PM of Pakistan Janab Nawaz Shariff & our PM Atal Bihari Bajpayee just 4 months ago .... According to that agreement troops of both sides would vacate their BOPs & leave the bunkers during winter so the troops of Ladakh Scouts & Jammu Kashmir light Infantry came down but the Pak Army also vacated their bunkers but came back & crossed the LOC occupied our bunkers & took the heavy weapons like GPMGs , Shoulder fire Rocket Launchers,, Mortars & ammunitions left by the Ladakh Scouts ,, Jammu & Kashmir light infantry & the BSF units......NOW YOU TELL ME WHAT SHOULD WE DO IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES ?????

Yup, my dad told me that he was in border during this period, and after two months of my birth he came to know that I was born. And later he take leave, and came to home. So it was like 3-4 months when he saw me...He told , he used to think"ki kesi dikhti hogi meri bchhi".....

Border is the best movie ever, my grandfather fought this battle as a part of raj rif. He sacrificed his life and my father was just 8 years old. This battle is an example of how extraordinary these soldiers are.

The thing is I have never seen my grandfather, not even a picture, my Dad remembers just remembers him faintly but whenever he talks about him he tells us that he was so strong that he could bend a coin between his index finger and thumb and he always cries watching Border. My younger sister who is an airforce officer fights with my Dad over the movie showing the little role of the airforce as the airforce played a very major role and my cousin who is an army officer argues with her saying that Army is the first line of defence of this country. And my dad quotes Sunny Deol from the movie to end the fight, "hum hi hum hain toh kya hum hain, tum hi tum ho toh kya tum ho"

Most of them die at the end....was heartbroken when I went to see this in the cinema when I was little.
Heard it after a long time.. didnt think it will make me emotional. It did.. you can actually watch this movie. It is good.

I was also a soldier and even after retirement I cry listening this song. You won't understand the soul of the song until you understand Indian culture and backdrop of the song. This unit was on the border of Pakistan in 1971 war and we're assigned to stop Pakistani troops who had pattern tanks, which this small unit did not have. And as the attack was in the night so Indian Air force could not come to help until 5am. So this small unit with limited arms and ammunition fought whole Pakistani battalion until morning and made supreme sacrifice.
