- This is the soloution we came up with to create a multi purpose load space at the back of the van. This gives us the option for two deep sofas, a full size double bed or once removed, a 1.4x1.2m cargo space.

If anyone moans ignore them , it’s your van your channel , we like it the way it is .
Braddah, your videos are PERFECT the way they have been, if people no like it they no need watch. Craftsmanship, with EXPLANATIONS, this is why people watch youtube, mahalo
Ignore critics. Your channel is great.
Ignore any negative comments. Your videos are wonderful and have given me, a complete beginner, lots of ideas for when I build my first van in the next few months. Keep doing what you’re doing, please! 😊
Agree with Mark's previous comment these videos are excellent neither too much talk or too much doing. You're videos are all worth waiting for as we are doing a relay conversion and go back to your videos to get things right. Keep up the good work !!
Ignore the haters Tim, do it just how you want to. It’s brilliant 👍
I love your channel, sod the negative arses!!
I don't think people actually realise how much hard work is put into making and producing TH-cam videos let alone the hardwork put in doing all your projects.
You can't please everyone so please yourself and do what YOU want it's your channel. There's more people who enjoy it than don't so try not to let the negative posts get you down.
I'm here for your van build series and really enjoying your other projects in the house too.
Thanks for putting out such frequent excellent content x
This guy is the Heisenberg of van conversions
You don't worry about the wingers mate just carry on as you have been.youv been doing a great job just be your self we enjoy your videos .youv got a nice family to be proud off that's what it's all about.old Scottish jimmy western australia
Another great video. Ignore the haters and complainers. I enjoy your style of presenting projects to us. Keep up the good work. The van is looking great. I love that you put the bed together using left-overs, off-cuts, and deconstructed furniture.
Such a clever guy, hats off to you. Following your channel has been inspirational.
Hi Tim I think your videos and the way you explain everything is perfect, iv watched all your videos and think the balance between explaining the way you put stuff together and the practical stuff is spot on , looking forward to the next installment
It alway cracks me up that people will follow someone on TH-cam obviously liking what they see and then try and change the way you do things. Rock on dude.
Steve McLean spot on
Ignore any negative comments; I have watched all of your videos and I think you have the perfect balance of 'doing v explaining'. As for your standard of work, ideas and end results, it's fantastic! You inspired me to get on with a few of my own DIY jobs both in the house and my van (just sound deadening and lining; it's just mountain bike transport) that I was a bit hesitant about. Keep it all coming!!
Ignore the haters! Carry on doing it the way you always have, the carator you bring is what also draws viewers to you 👍🏻
Ignore those who make negative comments. If they don't like it they can go else where. Your videos are great so please keep up the good work.
Another superb video. I have finished my van and thought I would do a video of the build. Turns out getting a decent picture and sound is more difficult than converting a van. Dont change the way you do the videos. Sod the wingers. Crack on as pretty much all of us enjoy what you do and how you do it. Thanks for the time and effort !
Don’t heed negativity - another brilliant informative video - love your work!
Good job Tim, how dare anyone moan about your channel, your time, your editing, I love your videos keep doing what you do please I'm sure I'm not alone with this thought, just seeing you with your family doing what families should do is great, but please take us along for your 1st hol,
It is looking amazing. Not had a problem with your videos so carry on as you see fit as far as I'm concerned. Love the transformation. Andy UK
Great work Tim..
Haters? Are they seriously even here?!! Fools. Tim, great job as usual! Plenty of inspiration for us! Soon gonna start my own conversion too. Your whole series is an awesome learning material!! Thanks & carry on 😁.
I enjoy the format you where using for vids, talking over other possibilities, problems and the unforeseeable future etc is what I have come to enjoy with ya vids
This new format is awesome, and all the more good.
Awesome !!! :-)
Nice to see a craftsman doing a van build.
Some of the clearest videos on TH-cam - ignore the critics (of the videos :)) Where is the table going then??
There will be a fixed one between front and rear seats and a drop in coffee table for cab. 👍
Love your work ,greetings from belgium
Hi Tim,
Two comments :
1) Your talk/doing balance has always been spot on, so no need to change how you do your videos.
2) Rather than cutting down the seat boxes, did you consider a false floor box (say 120mm tall) that could double as more storage and raised floor when in camping mode, and can be removed as one big long box, or maybe two half boxes when you need to transport big shiz for house renovation?
I love hearing your thought process so ignore others and do what you do. Plus, being from the USA, I love listening to your accent. 😀 Van is coming along nicely.
These videos are great I have been looking for some that goes in depth like you, the more info the better.
Cheers
I don't know if I said this yet, but I'm time and time again so impressed by how professional and neat your work looks. The measurements, straight, perfect lines and the paint, wow. It looks *so* good. It's honestly diy goals.
i realize it's kind of off topic but does anyone know a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Shawn Troy flixportal :P
@Benton Maxton thanks, signed up and it seems to work :D I appreciate it !!
@Shawn Troy You are welcome xD
Excellent video as always, ignore the negative comments, unfortunately an awful lot of jealousy, keep up the good work.
great work, can't wait to see the finished van
Found all these these videos today and am a huge fan already. Have a small family and looking for a van that can pull double duty as a weekender/adventure van and also useful for projects or hauling larger loads. Having these removable pods so you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood/drywall/etc is brilliant and I'll plan to incorporate in some way. And the bunk beds, definitely the bunk beds. Keep up the good work!
Great work, keep doing things the way you do, top job, top channel, top geezer.
As a ships joiner / cabinet maker by trade , I think your doing an awesome job !!! I watch with interest as im about to do a camper van build too , and you have some great skills and ideas , as far as talking or footage etc goes , your right you will never please everyone , the fact your taking the time to film / edit and post is great and should be appreciated in its own right , keep up the great work !!! Lee
Liking the voiceover format with a bit of ‘live’ updating Tim.
Another excellent video. To be honest I would ignore all the negative or complaining comments, it is your channel make the videos the way you want to. Quintessential English van, a space for a stripy Windbreaker!! Should be finished in time for the forthcoming sunny English Summer. I assume the reverse gear was sorted. Good Luck.
Mark Peacock DITTO!!
Totally agree. Do you.
Agree! Sometimes people just like to find things to complain about! I love your videos, very informative and interesting!
Ditto, you didn't get to 38k+ subscribers by doing it differently
Compulsive viewing for me this, thank you.
Brilliant videos, really enjoying watching your progress with the van.
Great progress and ideas to overcome the challenges of building in a tight space.
The self-centering bits are also called vix bits (at least in the US). They are very handy and inexpensive.
videos are awesome.. ignore the negativity!
It's really coming together quickly now. Congrats on getting it to a useful state. :) thank you for the video
Nice new format
I actually found you by looking for a vid on how to fit kingspan style insulation in the loft of my 100yr old house, there isn't a straight edge up there!.... Some great tips in that vid, helped me a lot. Echoing a lot of the comments, just like to say I am very impressed with how neat and tidy your work is. Learnt quite a few little tricks a long the way watching your stuff, great content, great channel. Keep up the good work.
Film things how you see fit buddy!! I love to watch your vids however you do them
You can't please everyone! Your vids are great!
Love your video! Pls dont care the others negetive feedback. As a noob in building anything, i learn a lot. Love ur series!
Love the idea of removable bed pods, what a great way to make use of the van for van stuff. Thanks for the inspiration to edit together my bed video!
Detailed and pleasant videos, good ideas there. Keep it up
Loving this series, Loving this channel. Great craftsmanship right there !!
Take care
Dan
good job mate
What I did with my riving knife on my table saw was to cut it down with a grinder the same hight as my blade,so no need to keep taking it off,
I think complaints are because some people seen many van conversions so talking in detail about everything annoys them, while others know nothing and want all the detail!! Just do whatever you want, your style and if people aren't happy they can go elsewhere!
Personally I’d like to see more of the wife! Doing the wood work of course! Keep up the good work enjoy it!
Olá amigão, está ficando show teu motorhome. Abraços
Excellent, please don’t bow to the moaners and change anything about your style because it’s excellent. No one is forcing them to watch it, can’t believe how ungrateful some people can be.
1:39 Man, people are so full of BS. You are spending your free time making videos to help others for just about free. Don't take any of the moaning to heart, those people are just in the lazy camp that want everything spoonfed and not willing to work to find out or try things themselves. You're doing a great job of the videos, keep up the good work!
Fuck the haters. Only thing I dislike about your channel is I’ve run out of your back catalogue to binge!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What pocket hole guide did you use and would you recommend it? Thanks
Sam Mear looks like the Kreg jig
If you ever need to improve the bed comfort, look into Froli products.
Brilliant!
Hey Tim,
Sorry if I’ve missed it, but the bunk bed video doesn’t seem to be in the playlist,
Amazing as always. Did you buy the bunk beds or make them? Is there a link on where to buy or a how to video? Thanks
Built them, they are in a video in the playlist.
I cut my riving knife so it is just a hair lower than the saw blade, so you never have to take it off
Yes have thought of doing that. 👍
Robert van der zaan likewise. So much easier.
I would like a link or description on the cot/hanging bed for the kids please.
Made them, there is a video if that helps.
@@TheRestorationCouple thanks. I found the video. Sorry. Thought I had seen all your videos on van build, must have napped through that one.... 😁
Where do you get poplar in the UK?
I bought a load of rough sawn slabs off a local woodworker who had no need for them. Most specialist wood merchants can get it, may be called tulip wood. No major benefit over pine really other than no knots and very good for painting. 👍
The Restoration Couple - an tulip wood... Did not know that. Knew about the lack of knots but did "knot" know it was so similar to pine. Assumed it was a bit harder. Thanks for to though.
Yes I wondered about that, very popular with US van builders - but I've never seen it here.
Hii, Tim love ur videos they are very inspirational to me to do some self project in my house. I am thinking of renovating bedrooms so redoing plastering and skimming, would u recommend going for lime plaster on a 20th century terrace house red bricks outer wall??.
I was also wondering until what price should i pay the builder for skimming the walls, what price can be given to a medium sized bedrooms ?
Thank you for ur help in advance and keep up the good work!
Lime plasteer is only beneficial if there is already no gypsum or non breathable paints in use, otherwise you may as well just skim. Every location is different however here the plasterer we use will charge £250 for a full day inc, labourer and done in one day. You may find cheaper but may take longer so ask around.
The Restoration Couple thank you so much tim for ur reply really appreciate it.
Why simplify if you can complicate!?
the context of my comment is that I'm looking at different conversions in order to find a way for me to do something similar, on a VW T5. I appreciate very much the workmanship of The Restoration Couple project, but at times it seems overwelming dificult, intrincate, and sometimes it seems to me, things could be a lot simplified; instead of having an bed frame withlongitudinals, transversals parts, all inside a retangular frame, all glued, screwed in place ... I just think may be a single plywood, perhaphs reinforced if necessay, and also with holes for ventilation/weight saving, would do exactly the same job. I have built sailboats and bunks are mostly done that way. So my comment was on this context, and perhaphs, perhaphs ... it may help them to complete the project on a more efficient way.
"You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you will *always* get some miserable sods in the TH-cam comments"
Too much talking :-))))
you talk just fine, and do good job mate... we followed your project instructions and tips, just 2 difference I convert double cabine transit and have 17yo son to assist
Please please please go back to the way you were doing your videos, they were much more enjoyable than this one.
