$1000 USD. I bought the walnut version which is stunning. I stripped it down to the last screw, polished relubed and blued the compression tube and blacked the cocking arm. It will shoot a 1/4" five shot group at 40 yards. But my 97K will do the same. It takes a while to get the cocking down, but there is a way to do it that doesn't kill your arm and shoulder. It is the best looking spring piston rifle IMO, and I'm glad I finally got one.
@@ShorrockPaulYes, cerakote or anodize would be best. I used aluma black and it's horrible to work with, but I made it work and it looks pretty good. Had to do like 10 coats, and 0000 steel wool lightly in between coats, finally a clear matte enamel top coat to protect it. If I were to do it again and I couldn't anodize or cerakote, I would spray it with matte black paint, then top coat it with a clear matte enamel. Of course I sanded and rounded the corners first.
@@Ozravens No, it's not difficult. Take the action out of the stock and look at how it's attached, take pictures in case you forget. Now, you can either remove it as is, or remove the whole aluminum cocking assembly from the receiver tube. You will have to remove the bolt (4mm allen key) that holds the round black arm to the compression tube, then the cocking arm is free to swing back. There's one big pin holding the cocking arm on, drift it out with a punch then the cocking arm will come off. There's also a pin that holds the round black arm to the cocking handle. But first loosen the set screw in the middle where the pin is, then the pin will slide out, and the round black arm will come off. It's really pretty simple, just look at it and you'll figure it out. As far as the aluminum block that the cocking arm attaches to, there's two pins that hold it to the long aluminum rail.
I got one eight years ago, and it was a HUGE disappointment. not because of the weight, cocking stength or the accuracy, but the cocking lever mechanism, which screwed up royally. I tried and tried, but could not get it fixed. The TX200 does not have that problem. Go for excellence, not superficial beauty. Buy with your head, not your heart.
Definitely a once in a lifetime purchase ,, I had a walnut one quite a few years ago and had to sell it to buy something daft like a washing machine for the house as i wasnt working at the time. It grated me for years until one morning , i had a spare few quid and went out and bought another brand new walnut prosport ,,, I will be getting buried with this one . What is it they say ,, " Long after the pain of the expense , The quality still remains as does the pride of ownership " Id sell my gran for one , best production springer available imo
Wonderful rifles but i prefer the HW77/97, i own a AA S410 walnut but with springers i stay with my HW's...Air Arms better start to produce quality break barrels again instead importing Indian made Tupperweare. Thanks for your video buddy 👍
I had a walnut stocked PS in .177. Fantastic looking gun (I bought it mainly for its looks) and extremely accurate, but I struggled to get on with it. The skinny, set-back trigger and the short reach to it meant I had to cock my hand awkwardly to get the trigger to sit on the pad, rather than in the crook of my index finger (I have large hands and long fingers). I tried a thumbhole HW97 and it felt as if it had been made for my hand, so the PS was sold.
A very nice video, Sir. Thank you. Here in the Netherlands, these are seriously expensive, if you can find them. Yet, the HW77K seems to consistently outshoot them at our range and looks at least equally as beautiful. You can imagine which air-rifle I went for after much contemplating. 😊
I loved mine, what a great rifle and definitely the best looking springer on the market. I sold it to a mate who says he will never part with it (on TH-cam as the weaponised hippy).but for the price of a new one you may as well buy two weihrauch’s.👍🏼
I had a Pro-sport in Beech. I never really got on with it and after selling it and all my other quality Springers I now have the TX200 Ultimate Springer in Black Beech which I've short stroked and very pleased with.
I had one for years but I found it very heavy to shoot offhand. But for accuracy it is spot on. Also its go a lot better piston than a HW. I had one trouble with mine, one of the pins in the cocking mechanism drifted out of line and gauged the stock. Mine was under power from new less than 10 ft lbs, so I fitted a V mach kit but even then it needed extra washers to get it nearer 11.5 ft lbs. I had trouble with the rifle not being able to fire with the spring cocked. But it was due to the safety which needs to be lubricated and wouldn't release to fire the pellet. The other thing with them is that you cannot de-cock them like you can other air rifles, unless you have got somebody to press that button, which I admit I didn't know about. So you have to fire off a pellet and waste money. Looks wise, they are nice to look at, but I still rate the BSA Mk1 Airsporter, the best looking air rifle ever, never mind the mechanics. It's a bit like the original DBD34 Goldstar looking 5 times better than a current BSA Gold Star, even though the mechanics on the newer model will be better.
I put a TBT kit in one that I got in a swap and it’s stunningly accurate. Great de-cocking info. I’d say it IS a target gun. I like the stock shape to hold. The Airsporter type cocking lever is an arse. I’ve got a 97K that’s had a lot done to it that I think might match it. One of them has to go …. I’ve also had one before which was also very accurate but I sold it. I think because my 77 was as accurate. More testing needed ..
Thanks so much Nick for pointing out this hidden bear trap release procedure. I’ve had a walnut Pro in .22 for a couple of years now but never knew this. I am fortunate to own a number of high quality spring guns including the TX 200 and two Diana 54 Airkings. They all have been tuned , polished and fussed over and are what I would consider extremely accurate out to 60 + yards. However when I shoot the Pro I’m still almost stunned at it accuracy. It has a full power Vortek drop in kit and delivers quite a thump to the shoulder but in spite of the recoil, ,the gun regularly one holes, 3 or 4 shots in a row at 40 - 50 yards. It certainly didn’t start out that way but just kept getting better and better wit( use over time. I’m certain a brand new gun straight out of the box would never shoot as well as this gun does so you probably have yourself a real gem there Nick and I’m sure once you finish working your magic, you’ll have one fantastic gun.
@@adam_krol apart from its a gas ram not a springer, also extremely hard to get parts for, Theoben have made that many different piston seals on their gas rams and they are 31mm it’s a nightmare, that’s why the only gas ram I have is a hw90, and I have various springers, and my favourite is a pro sport.
I have had my walnut version for ten years now. Because of my age of 75, I detuned it to 12 foot pounds to make it easier to cock. It shoots most pellets well, but I use the 14.35 JSB`s. I was lucky enough to get a fabulous figure in the stock. If you can afford it at all, I highly recommend one to everyone.
Following this one with interest - I've literally just put one of your Maxi kits in mine today. Paid £850 for the walnut stock version from my local dealer a few weeks ago. Nothing else comes close looks wise imo
Brilliantly made and finished. Very accurate, better looking than my ex missus. I have a 97 😮 ( tuned by a talent in Welshpool ) just as accurate and as smooth ) for £650. New. I’d still buy a Prosport if I had the bish bosh.
I have one of these. it's already old, Chris Youngman got it in for my dad specially, we had one before they made the shops, we also had the Pro Elite.
A big thank u mate! I've never had that issue with anti-bear trap, but now know what to do if that occurs, I bought mine second hand in immaculate condition a couple months ago, no issues and agree what u said about its not a target gun, I use my tx or 97k for competition, and I bought this gun thru my heart n not my brain 😂. Looking forward to the strip down video mate.
Thanks for that bear trap info.. i knew could be done but nobody ever showed how..they would say cant show for safety reasons.. maybe print a disclaimer on your video.. ..you know how litigious people can be i put one of your kits in mine many many years ago.. shoots lovely (.22) .. looking forward to seeing what you do.. Regarding the cocking , apart from the square edge of lever (AA should have rounded it, and blackened it) i do not find it difficult to cock, and i am 60yrs old.... but i do do a lot of archery, maybe that helps.. :)
Looked at the Braces of Bristol version.. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. Apart from the stock design,i don't like it at all.. the original deep blueing looks much nicer imo..only thing that I would do on mine is blacken the cocking arm.. .. and to be honest I have a very nicely grained stock on mine.. much nicer than that one is. Also the shroud doesn't look as nice as original and that horrible big silencer with branding all over it.. completely ruins the lines of a classic sporter
I wonder how many messages you’ll get from the Airsporter fanboy club now? I had one about 40 years ago after being taken in with its beauty and the thought of the famous BSA barrel but couldn’t hit a barn door at 10 yards with it. I tried different scopes and all the .22 pellets in the world including the legendary Eley Wasps but soon realised that the loading tap had more play than a brass’s front bottom and the trigger was as vague as a politicians answer😉 I ended up giving it away to my neighbour and suggested he used it to prop up his shed door which rattled in the wind. Hopefully it’s in a museum now so no one else has to suffer more pellet mutilation nightmares. My faith in BSA has been restored with a pair of T10’s which I really rate.
Yes they are lovely to look at, a copy of the beautiful Airsporter, however they are superbly engineered but are at heart an MG Vanden Plas. I owned one with walnut stock for 16 years they are a fully glided action but still overrated and over priced I much prefer my hw rifles I also get slightly tighter groups with a tuned hw
I've had a Prosport, but couldn't get on with the stupid cocking lever, which made it a faff to load. The ergonomics of stock/trigger also made it a PITA when shooting long sessions. Swapped it for a TX200 HC and never looked back. The TX is a lovely gun to shoot, but not pretty.
I did the same had a Walnut mint Sport, lever l didn't like, had it annodized black looked 100% better but still l sold it, got a Walnut TX and they are better.
I had one walnut stock , but the under lever is difficult to use and loading is a pain but to shot it's very good , but a hw 99 is a better air rifle ,
