I had a cracked stock on my 16. My dad glued and pinned it but never the same. Was at a gun show digging through a mountain of M1 stocks and there it was. Couldn't be. 25 bucks later had a new to me good stock
I have two of them and I love them! I locktite the screw that holds the bolt in. One of mine was just a receiver. No bolt or stock. But it has the fantastic Pow R Pac choke, so I just had to fix it. I found a bolt but had to TIG weld on it to close up the headspace. I found a new stock from a limited run that was made. I found more choke tube inserts and ended up with a full set of them. It works great! The crazy Pow R Pac choke works well, but may not be safe to shoot modern plastic wads through because it jumps through a gap before it hits the choke tube. I’m just not sure about that. Glad you like yours too!👍
I have a 20g jc Higgins in pristine condition. Got it from my papa. No rust, butt pad is just as it came from the store. Never gonna see another one in as good of shape, and as original as mine. My favorite thing to shoot out of it is slugs.
How about some contact info on that “local gun shop about 20 miles away (the one with a whole bunch of similar J.C. Higgins bolt action shot guns). It seems I’m not the only one who would like to contact them for some replacement parts (stocks, bolts, etc…).
All J.C. Higgins guns are hidden gems as far as I'm concerned. I've got a few of their Model 20 pump guns and the actions are so smooth it's nuts.
good find on that butt plate, looks good now, nice job
Nice job. I have one in 16 gauge I will be redoing. I like how clean yours looks. Again nice job.
Tc Higgz thank you very much, means alot to me.

That does look like a very long barrel. I have a JC 16g & just love it. Paid less than 150 and it is mint. My slug gun.
I would love a 20ga. I'd want a modified choke or a pollychoke.
I have a JC Higgins with a great pad on it.
Good stuff man, im about to buy one here locally from a guy. Thanks
Nice work!
Great job !!
I have a 16 gauge one in really good condition
my uncle gave me one just like your's about 20 years ago.i wouldn't take anything for it. mostly sentimental reasons, but it's a sweet shooter.
