The safety of plant-based foods

The sector of new food sources and production systems is rapidly expanding worldwide. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been proactively monitoring the new foods space to help member countries navigate the associated benefits and challenges, particularly in relation to possible food safety concerns. In this video, experts gathered by FAO discuss plant-based food products that mimic animal-based products. The interviews took place during the Food Safety Foresight Technical Meeting on New Food Sources and Production Systems in Rome, November 2023.
