I would bet when you lay the lube into the tire and its applied while the tore is laying on its sidr the lube is favored and caused one side to slip out of the way of being pinched and the other side stayed and got the damage
I use lead solder to balance my wheel. Just wrap it tight around a spoke or two. Looks really clean.

You can also use lead sinkers that are used for fishing as spoke weights. The big ones with a hole in them. Cut a slot and crimp them onto the spokes. Loved this video buddy.
Yea I was lookkig in to those, they just cost almost as much as the wheel weights. I need to get myself some wheel weight.. And top being cheap.. Really.. Haha
@@vegasromaniac, That's interesting, lead must be expensive in the USA. In Australia a 25g wheel weight is like $5 and a lead sinker ball 20g is $0.37 and a 100g is $0.83

For wheel weights, I've had good luck using lead fishing sinkers. You could have used a couple of 4oz sinkers. I hack saw half way into the sinker, spread it open then crimp in on around the spoke.
Many people told me about the lead weights but I couldn't find them and they cost almost as much as getting the actual weights for the wheels that you could take off and put on easily with us and so because of that I never really went that way but the metal things that I put on a spoke for now they seem to be working just fine and in the future I'm just going to get my hands on the kit that is removable and I think I'll be a lot happier that way but if you live in a let deposit and you have plenty of love and slid it laying in your backyard might as well

Great video, was that a 110 mousse? I have a 110 mousse that I was given but prefer to run 120 tires for desert racing and I am concerned that set up might be too soft for racing.
it was a 110 mousse specially sized for the trackmaster based on their chart , but it didn't fit. if you run a 110 mousse in to a 120 tire it will rub against the tire and will be destroyed but will give ou good traction for a while
That's a great way to figure out how much weight to use for balancing. I like my tires balanced too. I never thought of using a magnet to figure out the right amount of weight.
If you buy the weights thay go on the spokes you just add those amd you are done, but because I'm cheap I have to do another step.. Haha..
I have the stick on weights for my sportbike, can I use those for my dirtbike too?
Vegas do you recommend going beyond the 200 hour mark? Did you run that one you took out again? That’s well impressive 200hours!. I haven’t tried moose balls or these types of moose bibs. This video makes me want to order some for my ktm 300 front/rear, Do you still recommend?
you need two rim lock and never grease the bead cause its with slip especially with only one rimlock
Would be better off just using tyre levers rather then c clamps. The clamp is stopping your tyre going down into the drop centre of the wheel. Your trying to force the reinforced bead over the rim.
3000 miles in 200 hours is an average of 15mph. Does a mousse handle higher speeds ok?

You're supposed to break the bead around the tire first.
Lead solder wrapped around the spokes here too. Lasts and I havn't had to rebalance between tire changes. I have yet to try a mousse though.

Wow. To see a mousse chewed up the way it was and then putting it back into a larger tire? I'm really surprised at the stuff you can get away with! Doesn't the tire feel mushy and squishey during cornering? That can't be good for the handling of the bike. I'm always afraid of prying dents out of the rim like that in case it could crack. All that stuff just makes me nervous.
There are people that overthink things, and you are a smart guy, but sometimes you just need to go ride....

Yeah I'm planning a couple of trips this summer I got to escape the heat today actually is my last day of riding in or near Las Vegas I am in Logandale Nevada and it's 80 degrees outside and he's already really hot so most likely this is going to be the last ride I'm going to put around here and everything else is going to be traveling around most likely I'm going to end up in Colorado and for sure Utah
So the trick to making a mousse last, is to use tire mounting lube instead of the usual bib lube 👌

Oh yeah I've learned that lesson a long time ago never use the sprocket size to change your tire you going to lose fingers and always wear gloves believe it or not those gloves make a huge difference

Very nice and informative to see how you do the tire change. It has been many years since last time I did tire change like this myself... On the sports bike I had it was always done at the tire store, not looking forward to do the tire change on my 500 EXC myself.
Yes when I had a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 I remember I have to replace the tire and I took it to the store and it was $180 for one tire with a labor and now that I look back to it could have done in myself yes but back then I just had no clue that you could do it yourself also the best thing about doing it at home is that you could basically put used tires page tires broken tires and they don't really care because if you think they will never do that for you so you can save money that way also
I am fairly new to motorcycles. I did a tubeless change on my sportbike a couple of years ago and was happy with how smooth it went. I got a dirtbike a few weeks ago and though tubes would be easier, but they were much more difficult with trying to not pinch a tube while installing.
At how many hours were you lubing it?
Lube only when input it in, 60 to 80 hours comes out new tire

I'll be sticking with super heavy natural rubber tubes for the time being. Easier to work with and fine for my conditions.
I agree the Moose is not for everybody but it's no headache for me and it's all worth it I never have to check pressure or do anything and it works great for my area
@@vegasromaniac donthey make them in different compounds to approximate different tire pressures? I run mine a little higher than most people expect.

You can help balance the bike wheel by using two rimlocks instead of one.
Every time I watch your videos, I learn so much, I now know how to get dents out of my rim, which I thought would make me get a new rim, but now I can fix those. Im thinking about getting one of those mousse tubes because of all the thorns I have in the field I ride in too. Thanks again, great video!

I just wrecked my long irons last weekend. Bent one and snapped the tip off the other. The 1090 is not fun to install tires on. I poked a hole on the inner liner too. That should be expensive.
Hmm, never done that, so I can't tell.. But I know installing tires on my car was easyer than the bike..

NIce, I took my new mousse on a ride up to Angel Peak. Really like how it handled didn't really feel any different from running 12psi in a tube. Slammed it into a few rocks to see how it felt and it does lack that spongy feeling a tube has, I can see why people refer to them as "dead" feeling now. I still run tubeliss in the rear. I'll probably leave that as is since I like the feel and it doesn't give me problems.

I thought tires had a mark on them that you lined up with the wheel lock or valve stem so they would be easy to balance without much weight . The dot or mark is the lightest part of the tire so it off sets the valve stem . I think if you have both the dot goes in the midde of the 2 . I didn't see you lining up the mark on the tire to the wheel lock .
I run mousse no flat foam Inserts. They are always unbalanced
The smell of 2-stroke exhaust is an acquired thing to enjoy. When I was younger I would go to supercross and the smell when you walked in the stadium was the best. I used to look forward to it very much. But 4 stones kill I mean kill 2 strokes.

When you use the wrench to take out the dents use a metal ruler against the rim and you wont scratch up the rim.

i have run bib moose tubes for a while and love them but for me they are a SOB but i think the answer is in that lube cause i had to put tire irons in between the rim and the tire i had to force the tire bead to slid down in to the center and your s went right away great video !!

Except the occasional inner bladder doesn't gold air or nail in the trail, or side wall pinch flat, all the problems that bib solves
I've ever had any of those problems and have never met anybody that has tubliss that has either.

That's great junctions Colorado it's hundreds of feet but it's Sandy so you don't fall off like straight so it's not gonna kill you just really hard to go back to your bike

Not sure what kind of mousse you are using but Nitro has a website for virtually every tire and what size mousse you should be using. If you are using a mousse for a 110 tire and put it in a 120 tire it’ll probably pop off the bead (eventually). G.L buddy
That's why you should never believe what they say, it's all about selling you more stuff they get paid by tire manufacturers to promote cetaint tires, btw since I made this video I have over 10 hours or 200 miles on the tire no problem

Riding you do (fire roads/ sand washes) I’m sure it will be fine because you’re not putting it under much stress. I have first hand experience of a 110 mousse coming out of a 120 tire during a hard enduro/ rock bashing ride. Right off of the bead. So there is some credence to what they say in their website. nice video sir. i don't think i ride enough or on rough trails enough to use a moose but it is a great product to keep in mind just in case.
Yes if you ride any Street or any Forest Road and you keep it by Corbin for a longtime moose won't do very well but I'd Ride Slow maximum 30 mile rides and I go from Fast to slow and then I could get easily pinch flags and the fact that I don't have to ever check air pressure it just so worth it for me
i agree with what you are saying sir. i mean if i ever start to ride more than once a week or what not and start getting into tougher terrain then i'd for sure get it.
@@Minionmoto529 I use mousse in my hard core trail/race bike but in my dual sport 500 i run HD tubes but i lube them up with the same mousse lube. A greased up slippery tube wont get a pinch flat ( or at least it hasnt happened yet)

The arena hybrid is a good tire but I like the Parker better all around.

"Fine" meaning the rotor was still in place and present maybe. 0% chance it bites properly like a normal pad/rotor after all that. There's MacGuyver'ing things, then there's being a danger to yourself and those around you.

I've got a motoz Desert IT on the front of my dual sport bike, after 500 miles of slab, it's still looking like new, lol I usually have a Pirelli Scorpion mid hard, and it's over half gone at 500 miles.
I don't service the mousse..I put it in and that's it

Any lube it's fine, it's mostly to help push the tire in, silicone lube is the best in the long run

Yeah I'm privileged very much about the areas in the places that I live but I am getting tired about the driving to Utah and driving to Colorado and driving to places where trail riding is nice here around Vegas the truth is that I'm very limited on trail also and in summertime the month of June July August you can get out of the house it's way too freaking hot
@@vegasromaniac Hey, bud. A good ride you might consider is the old ghost town that's north on U.S. 395 called "Bodie." It's just north of Mono Lake. The town is at about 8,300 feet. You drive to Bodie and then ride east over the mountain pass and down into the next valley.
