  • The FLARE system offers new opportunities where, when and how we can fly. Trust our pro pilot Beni Kälin who will share his learnings from more than 500 flights so far to make sure you get the most out of your wing in the air and that you will land safely as well.

    The ITV Meteor had dynamic pitch control from seat tilt 30 years ago, plus there was "the cage" rigid risers that gave any paraglider dynamic pitch. But I have been interested in reflex for auto pitch control for 25 years such as in my ram air kites, so congratulate those perfecting it.

    On some paramotor wings there are system that combines trimmers and speedbar on the bar. Dudeks power attack system and its pretty similar on controling the glide ratio with reflex profile

    I do appreciate the concept but I have to differ on the whole idea that this is the first ever glider that allows you to control your glide ratio… with a regular glider, the speedbar gives you this possibility and it been here for quite a while. With high end gliders, flaring at full speed is also something that quite a good number of skilled pilots know how to do.

      Yes, only with two liner, not with a 3 liner paraglider or miniwing

    • @E620SE
      @E620SE 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      But two liners are built to keep their glide ratio through the whole speed range 😉
      With the moustache it's much easier to follow the shape of a slope for example

      Hi! A paraglider is designed to pick up speed when pushing the execrator but keeping the best possible glide ratio doing it. The MOUSTACHE is designed to increase speed and effectively reduce your glide ratio when putting your hands up. BIG Difference. In addition, on a paraglider you have two inputs, speedbar and brakes. On the MOUSTACHE you can do everything with only one input, your brake handles. Furthermore you can push the accelerator standing on the ground by just letting go the brake handles. Strong wind takeoffs made easy.

      @@1989BenB I’m not saying that a regular paraglider and this new type of glider are the same. I’m just saying that saying that they are the first ever to allow you ton control your glide ratio is a bit of an over statement.

      @@frigorifix It might sound like it, but if you tried the MOUSTACHE, you might understand why we claim it.

    MUSTACHE é um sonho, pena que não tenho dinheiro pra comprar um 😢, mesmo assim fico feliz por vocês que tem um MOUSTACHE e tem o prazer de voar em um parapente de tamanha qualidade, parabéns FLARE!

    Its very exciting to see real innovation in PG/Speed wings. I'm quite looking forward to see how all the other manufacturers respond to this. Would it be possible to make a wing that can have a PG mode and a FlareMoustache Mode?

    When will we have one I can strap to my motor? This looks like a ton of fun.
    Also maybe the recommended landing should be renamed to something more descriptive. You look up "two-stage flare" you'll only ever find skydiving information. Maybe call it a "popup flare" or something?

      Thanks for the hint about the description of using another wording next time. :) - We tried on Paramoter for own tests - but it´s (The MOUSTACHE) not built for that - but maybe will have a model for that in the future.

    Is there a plan to make a 25 or 26M? If so this would be my next wing, but I doubt I'd optimize a 22.

    Do you need to have a Reserve chute while flying the Moustache?

    In order to land short: Can you just come in with quite a bit of brake pulled, so you have less energy you need to flare off?

    • @1989BenB
      @1989BenB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, you can shorten you landing by not coming in full speed. just make sure that you have some margin and not flying close to the stall speed close to the ground. If you hit sinking air, there will be no way reacting to it.

    • @markmcgoveran6811
      @markmcgoveran6811 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just watched a few videos where the pilot had on a lot of break close to the ground and then turn loose one side of the breaks, and hit the ground hard. This looks like a beach wing. Nice clean laminated air flow, long soft Sandy landing zones. I don't think it's worth the risk to fly something like this unless you have a long place to land.

    • @1989BenB
      @1989BenB 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! yes, we had some collapses and also tried hard to simulate some.. you can see a collapse in the safety tutorial...

  • @markmcgoveran6811
    @markmcgoveran6811 ปีที่แล้ว

    This looks like it has no passive safety to it at all. I think the part where you are required to have active flying no matter what and it's very hard to reach up and grab the brake toggle when you're flying, if you drop it, is an amazing lack of engineering foresight. I barely had enough money to buy a used epsilon 9 and lessons to fly. It looks to me like this kind of wing would be extremely difficult to fly in many places.
