Nice. I love little "anti-jank" mods like this that eliminate stupid annoyances in otherwise functional products that are prone to pissing off their user.
The handel does make the valve a lot easier to actuate, however I would be really worried about accidentally hitting it and lowering a motor when its a bad time to lower a motor.
nice mods. as far as the flash burn, i took an old long sleeve shirt and cut the sleeves off. wear them upside down tucked into my gloves. works great but will not protect from big sparks
Just use a small pair of Vise Grips instead of ruining the release valve by welding something to it. The best modifications are not necessarily permanent
I have the same 7nit but with the portable foot pump. Cant seem to locate the bleed procedure to remove air from system. I find thats more of a pita than the flopping legs. Sigh...
As has been said before by Daniel. I would worry about hitting the leaver when you don’t want to. Weld a centred round pipe on it or a round tap so it won’t matter if you hit it. Surprised you did not add a cup holder as well!!!

2nd that opinion, that is why they engineer it to have to use the handle to loosen.
Love that tip on the handle for the hydraulic screw thingy!

your garage now looks like mine. Same welder and (roughly) same hoist. Nice mods though! Thanks for the tips
i just always use vice grips for valve but that little metal holder for the stick really is neccesary hate when it falls out
Those are pretty cool mods. I just found this video and liked it. I'll be subing too.
Thanks

Guessing i need to take the release plug out to weld it? Or will welding her in not hurt anything ? Thanks

good stuff man! we should do a collab video sometime
Put some fucken welding gloves on
Hello, Sloppy Mechanics, I tried to mod my hoist and messed up the valve stem that lowers the arm. Do you know where i can get another one?
Thanks
Next time just put a small pair of vise grips on it. It'll stay on and it won't get ruined by welding anything to it.
those def tones though...
a few more mods try American engine 001 on youtube
Great tip Matt! I'm on it. Thanks!

Check out a You-tuber named AVE, who does tool mods and reviews like you.
Nice fixes all them cheap hoists are all the same.
All the F bombs, totally unnecessary.
i use a water spicket/spigot knob or gas bottle knob to weld on my jacks ,to avoid welding in a fucked up position ☺. They work fine and look better.
