    A great pick for a hero would've been Joe Mauer, played his entire career for his hometown team in Minnesota, by all accounts an amazing teammate, insanely kind person and soon-to-be HOFer, the impact he's had on not just Minnesota baseball but the state as a whole is genuinely crazy

I think it warrants a more nuanced discussion, because interpersonally, he was famously a pretty big asshole, to both his family and friends. apparently Ty Cobb's villain arc has been exaggerated greatly, but sadly nobody can really verify anymore. I'm not saying he was a hero, but maybe the villain thing is a stretch?
      fun Ty Cobb fact: his estate consisted almost entirely of Coca Cola stock which exploded in value after his death and he wanted his estate to help underprivileged Georgian students pay for schooling. At the time of his death schools in Georgia were still segregated so he figured the money would go to white underprivileged students, but now the scholarships help almost exclusively black students. Cosmic irony at its finest

      Another act of charity on Cobb's part was building a hospital. He built it in an area with a large black population, and even had a black doctor named as Chief of Medicine. These were choices he made while alive, and were fully under his control.
      He could have made race a factor in receiving his scholarship, but chose not to. Making it seem like he would've been pissed off that he helped black students is wrong.

      Saying “a little research” on a 15 minute video with multiple quotes, clips and articles clearly has “a little research” done to it. Satchel also never did get the chance to play with Ted before he was 40 and older and clearly never got to play his prime with the others

    • @alejandroallen1949
      @alejandroallen1949 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @peskytalk doesn't change what I said and doing an educational video with a glaring mistake isn't the fault of the person watching. He played while ted played. Full stop. If you would have said all that during the video cool. But you disregarded or didnt know that which is ok but still wrong. It also kinda disrespectful to an actual legend who had to wait way to long to get the respect he was due and a chance to play in the majors by saying he didn't play. Gibson died but Paige played for years and well even though he was way past his prime. Look him up sometime

      It’s definitely not your fault for pointing it out, I appreciate that, and right when you did I went and looked for myself, I have absolutely no problem with that. I hope the writers remember this and choose to not elect him, but you never know with the writers. Adrian Beltre is no longer a unanimous inductee this year. I am sick and tired of younger people saying that and they don't know diddly squat about baseball. Pete Rose is the all-time hit leader at 4256 MAJOR LEAGUE hits. Pete has said that up until recently the Japanese League was about the same level as minor league baseball. So using your ridiculous math I'm going to take Pete's 4,256 hits and add his 427 minor league hits so that gives him 4,683 hits. Is not Minor League Baseball also professional baseball? So to make a long story short, don't make stupid comments because even if I agree with what you said Pete is still the hit King.

      And even so, your point barely even makes sense, the NPB is the highest level of baseball in Japan, and since you are required to play a few years before you’re able to come to the MLB he missed years where he could’ve been racking up hits, minor league baseball is not the highest level.
      Along with that, I PERSONALLY DONT EVEN SEE HIM AS THE ALL TIME LEADER. I said, IF, you count this, it’s just an interesting point that’s worth mentioning. But if you think you handed my ass to me that’s fine.

    If you ever do another video like this, I think you should have Harmon Killebrew included. He was probably one of the nicest and most humble guys to ever play the game. Killebrew was one of few players that went out of his way to compliment umpires. He always made time for fans. Later in his life he was a huge supporter of the Miracle League, an organization dedicated to letting children and adults with mental and physical disabilities enjoy the game of baseball. So why isn't Madison Baumgartner on the most hated list. He was/is an absolutes asshole. Chirping at hitters because they were upset at themselves for missing a pitch, Yelling at guys on the other team for not running how he felt they should run, showing up teammates who made an error behind him. Why does Baumgartner always get a pass on these lists!?!?

    If Ted Williams played today with social media and such, he would be a massive villain. He was “diva WR level” obsessed with his own production more than team success. He was also reportedly a total jerk to the media and teammates. He just came from a time when athletes could get away with that.
