Last night's game with Giannis and Wemby was amazing. Looking forward to round 2. We all know Giannis can ball; Wemby is a stud too.
I couldn't have said it any better Stephen A. For Giannis to go right at Wemby who has about 6 inches on him and that incredible reach. Got to tip your hat to him. The other day I was watching Giannis and he got his shot blocked like 3 times by the same player. But Giannis kept going at him. Scoring on the guy and even dunking on him. No fear.

Wemby is taking far too many 3's, especially in transition. If he had better shot selection and took care of the ball the Spurs would be an entirely different team this year, and would have won against the bucks yesterday. He is something like 10th on the team in 3pt percentage but has taken 3rd most on his team this year. *To put it in perspective he has a lower 3pt% than Russell Westbrook does for his career right now* - ask yourself if you'd want Russ to take the shot and then subtract a little bit of confidence. That's Wemby from 3 right now.
It's a nice feature to have your big able to shoot and dribble but making that one of your primary ways of scoring when you're 7'5" should be criminal. He should be leading the league in rebounds with his wingspan, but instead he is robbing himself of so many opportunities by hanging out around the perimeter, even in transition. His FG% should be upwards of 60%, he should have 15+ rebounds per 36 at a minimum, if he played in the low post more he could easily have 5+ ORB per game giving his team more second chance opportunities to score off of.
He should be pushing action in transition to get fouls and traditional 3pt plays at a high FG%. He is not a talented enough shooter to be a 50/40/90 guy like Chet (at least right now) so his game shouldn't be the same. He belongs on the post, which is where he is skilled at an elite level.
TLDR; To win in a meaningful way he will need to make big choices about his playstyle in the next few years, and to me that most certainly means being more judicious in shot selection and playmaking.
Already on a minutes restriction in his rookie year, as he ages his mobility and risk of big injury is going to go up instead of down - that's just what happens to unproportionably big people

Kevin as a rookie was not shooting nearly as many 3's (in more minues) as Wemby is right now... he shot half the amount actually, and as a SG that year he was guarded heavily for every perimeter shot. As KD progressed from SG->SF->PF the defense on him changed and he reverted to his really nice college statline closer to 40% from 3 with increased volume. There was previous proof that he was a good shooter as well, his college stats will back that up with shooting splits of 47/40/82 for his college career as a freshman. I don't know if you're aware but 40% over 35 games are elite shooting numbers
Now lets look at Wemby's international career and what it says about his shooting abilities.. he shots splits of 45/29/80 internationally. His last year of play in Paris he shot 27.5% on 5 attempts per game - that is atrocious, and inline with what we see this year. Too many 3's and more turnovers in less minutes. You are dense if you can't understand why that's problematic
They are just different players man and the sooner you realize that the better, Wemby is much better in the post, with rebounding, and with defense than KD can ever be.
You can want him to be KD 2.0 with all your willpower but he is not the same person and he doesn't shoot nearly as well as you want him to. You may not like my perspective, and you can put little emojis all you want, I am the just the mouthpiece for truth here
There is a reason Wemby has the lowest winshares on his team, and all of it comes from his offensive win shares, as he boasts nice defensive numbers. Better shot selection and taking care of the ball would make him a completely different player
