I agree he was the best. But I'm glad he came in after 3rd place, because it allowed him to put out an awesome album, not bound by the American Idol record deal and allowed him to be his own person. And he got to prove Simon Cowell wrong... He IS a "stand-alone star."

The fact that he was runner up to Wayne Brady was a testament to how good he was and how he could've beat Wayne. Daughtry won over the judges the crowd and fans during the show but since he did it for his family that's the biggest win of them all in my honest opinion.
