💡Turn on CC subtitles, if you want more details. For best quality watch at 1440p (if you force your 1080p device to run at 1440p mode - you'll gain that extra quality too, due to the higher bitrate)

Thanks for putting this out there, takes a pair to subject yourself to what could be some brutal feedback from the old crusty's out there. A couple tips if I may:
Number A: Getting in a comfortable(ish) stable position before you cut is tremendously helpful for safety and state of mind. (If you're in an awkward position, all your work will feel awkward. Example7:50 You were on on the opposite side of tree and reaching down and cutting below you, also looked like you were working/struggling to keep yourself in position to make the cut since your TIP was further out to your left, cinching and weighting your lanyard to keep you in position. A couple options in that case, lanyard where it was, unclip zigzag and put through that same V crotch and move to other side of tree (your SRT redirected would be more directly above you). Another option, use your slings I see on your saddle to redirect your SRT right above your head height (same stem your lanyard is on) keeping your SRT line more vertical. Drop thought the crotch you were kneeling on and descend a bit for a better cutting position.
Letter 2: Friendly suggestion, try to find a shorter wider spreading tree you can practice on. High, sturdy TIP and more horizontal branches. This will help you in balance and feel of the tree using climb line for balance and lanyard for positioning. Try not to fully "weight" your lanyard as it will get tiring and uncomfortable. Climbing and using the tree, not necessarily climbing the rope, in the tree.
Number III: What E. Lebrunet said. The tree already formed a significant sealing callus at the dead limb and wasn't a large dead branch or significant risk so just let it be.
Keep climbing, learning, practicing and have fun. Your not on the clock and if you get the shakes, or spooked, call it a day.
Sorry for the long winded comment.

Just a tip, if you want to make proper cuts to doesn't harm the tree more, don't cut the lip called the callus like with your 2nd cut. Just cut in the deadwood. The tree already processed his wound and start to close it, with this cut you just reopened it. There is some good books about prunning the right way if you are interested.
    Have a good climb

Try using a chest ascender (4SRT) or you can make one with your lanyard. It helps to keep your zigzag up , and a super easy ascend 👍

What's your saddle? You get that lean back? I'm thinking about getting a higher end saddle to help sit myself in a better position while just hanging on the rope... to much core work lol. 1 year into climbing here, your thoughts? 82nd All the Way, Rangers lead the way!

Ok have to ask why are you tree trimming in the middle of the woods? Is it for practice or what?

obviously he’s doing it for practice, cause if he’s doing that for work, he ain’t making any money.. company’s want to make money not call me when you’re done, cause obviously that could be all day with this guy just for a couple of cuts🤓

Incredibly out of shape it seems.
You also can just use a rope wrench instead of the chicane. They both give the same amount of friction to the rope.

Catching your breath? Tell me about it. That shit will make you or break you. That's why if I can, I used a 28 foot extension ladder to get me to the first couple of good climbing branches. But it does build confidence to start from the ground being on the rope the whole time.. there's no nervous transitions

I'm rocking the orange version and it's by far the best double braid u can climb on in my opinion. It's a very close copy of the yale poison ivy but just a Lil bit less bounce holds up pretty good with the tooth accenders and unicenders out there just milk the line right out the bag and you're golden I used to climb on the yale focus and blue moon samsons hyperclimb has become my new favorite line for work and rec playing in the canopy
