I just finished watching the series last night. This explanation is spot on! Everything that happened on the island... happened. Our protagonists took part in one of the most monumental events in human history… the struggle to keep the darkness at bay. The entire alternate storyline that took place (during the Final Season) following the safe landing of Oceanic Flight 815, was in actuality a shared purgatory; A waiting room where our characters continued to evolve until they were ready to shed the fears and weakness that anchored them to the human plane. By the end of the season, our core characters are ready to move on to the afterlife. But not all. For instance, when we meet Ana Lucia, she is a dirty cop, accepting a bribe. Hurley states that she "is not ready." Meaning she is still mired down in human weakness. Her time is yet to come. But, due to the strong human bonds (and loving relationships) that our core group formed during this struggle, they needed to wait for each other, and reunite so they could move on as a group. We see the gathering at the church from the perspective of Jack, most likely because he was their leader and sacrificed his life for the group. But purgatory is a reality that exists “out of time.” For instance, Hurley and Linus could have been the island's protectors for a thousand years after Jack died. The group that escaped the island probably went on to live full lives. We will never know their stories. But in the end, they all met at the church as a group, on a timeless plane, to make the final journey into the light.
@@LegacyXJudah LOST still has the best idea of what exists after death that I've ever seen. No other media representation comes close to how creative it is. Imagine dying and immediately being reunited with your loved ones, (even the ones who were still ALIVE when you died) simply because time doesn't EXIST there. Everybody dies, and therefore everybody will be there at some point. I'm tearing up just thinking about it....
I spent my entire time watching with memories of people saying “they’re dead the whole time,” “so many unresolved plotlines,” “the ending sucked.” Boy were they wrong. Just finished it now. What an incredible show.
Right. Watched the entire show thinking I would be dissapointed by the ending (because people said it was bad). Ended up being everything I wanted it to be. A mix of feelings and a beautiful full circle. First time I cried watching a show
They where all lost, they had lost they’re families, when every person dies it signifies that they are not lost anymore and they found they’re family. The island is the sign of lost and in the end is a sign of finding the family they where lost with. That’s what made the best finale show of all time.
Tbh they kinda made it up as they went along in the later seasons. I didn't like the whole if the island went out the world will too. Mib was dumb as well.
@@onlinefool9931 actually no they didn't. They made it up in the beginning because they didn't know how long the show was going to go for, so they were basically just spinning plates. Season 4-6 however was planned, when they finally convinced the network to allow them to end the show with season 6.
So it’s like the ending of titanic, Jack was waiting for her with everyone else who died and they were waiting for her to join them as that’s where their most significant experience occurred. As a touching moment. I’m sure none of the people who died on titanic would want to meet up on such a that ship and that horrible experience
So what makes them all go to the afterlife together then? Millions ofnother people dies around the world as well why weren't they in this group as well
@@TheRealBatCave because their greatest moment was on that island. How? I guess it was the most significant thing which bonded them and they fit in there. Despite the terror and trauma and lack of technology, etc.

@@wordwariii687 Of course they age on the island. They were only there for six years, so you aren’t going to see adults change dramatically in their appearance in such a short span of time. That has nothing to do with what we are discussing anyway.
@@josephbrown9685 Because in every explanation you here "purgatory" "moving on" "afterlife" ..."alternate timelines" is where "death" becomes ambiguous.
I live in Hawaii and ran Lost location tours for over 5 years. You have no idea how many times I explained this very point to people who misunderstood the ending. Literally HUNDREDS of times! The thing that always gets me is Christian Shephard explains the whole show to Jack in about 5 minutes before Jack joins everyone else in the church. Still the best show/story of all time!
@@indra3821It’s the same timeline, except it occurs for everyone after they die. It’s based on the Buddhist concept of the Bardo, found in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. In very simplistic terms, it’s where people go after they die to work out any remaining issues before their next rebirth. That’s why Jack, who has issues with his father, finally gets to be a father himself, why Sawyer, who struggled with being an honorable person is a policeman, not a con-man, etc. There is no concept of time here, so no matter when one of them dies, they all appear there together. Also, as Christian explains, for our losties, the time they spent together on the island was the most important time of their lives, so they created that specific Bardot so they could all meet, let go, and move on together. Like the video mentions, the confusion comes because the writers didn’t want to give anything away too early. They introduced the flash-sideways chronologically right after jughead exploded as a red herring to get viewers to think it was an alternate timeline. However, the flash sideways didn’t actually occur until after the last lostie died (whenever it happened).
When Jack’s eyes closed one and the “Lost” title came up on the screen, I bawled my eyes out. lost is such a beautiful story. It dawned upon me that Lost isn’t just some thriller action/adventure tv show about people trying to survive on a deserted island. Lost is about how each of those people are “Lost” in their own lives as well. They tied it together so well in the end. This show is one of the prime examples of “its about the journey, not the destination.” And I’m tearing up. I grew to love Jack, Desmond, Rose and Bernard, and even Ben Linus. Each character had a story and you sympathize for each even knowing all that they’ve done. Definitely the top 5 tv shows Ive watched.
@@midsizesedan7620 No you just couldn't handle them killing off a certain character you loved whether it was Lexa or Lincoln the show writer's have every right to go whichever way they want to go I stuck with it because I'm more of a glass is half full not empty guy and chose to believe there was a reason they went that way.
I'd hardly call it lazy writing when he has the balls to kill off such main characters and the seasons kept getting approved and still got better after season 3 you just didn't have what it takes to stick with it that's Lazy viewership if you ask me no faith in the future of the story ]:P
I just finished rewatching it last week and after watching another video explaining the ending I finally got it that the sideways flash was purgatory. When I originally watched it I thought the beach was because of how far out and crazy the whole thing was. I probably did not pay as much attention to it the first time around as I should have.
It's ok, I get that a lot, haha. I considered reshooting it with better focus and an actual script in mind, but the views really picked up so I left it. I've had thoughts of other TV shows to explain, but at this point it's an idea in the back of my mind. Some day I'll pop back in with a Game of Thrones or Westworld video.
game of thrones would be cool too.. also maybe you should re do this one... but keep the original on since its picked up traction and then have a link to it in the description... or make a comment pinned at the top with the new link... so if people come down to complain they will see your link and go straight to that one. Good stuff though really... I like your thinking!
You can try to apply your logic all you want, but the fact of the matter is that's not what the writers intended. Click the link in the description and you'll hear it straight from them. They absolutely, 100%, factually, DID NOT die in the plane crash.
Brian, just shouldnt even consider comments like the ones from Travis Rigg. These are like stupid passive internet trolls! You did a great job with the video explaining that!
I think it all happens at the same time. That’s why they were all in the church at the same time. Kinda like supernaturals ending. Dean died in his 30s and sam in his 70s but it was all within a couple of min to dean in heaven. Because time is different in the afterlife. Years happen in seconds so it’s like it’s all happening at once. So for example Boone died in the beginning and jack in the finale, but to Boone and jack they met at the church at the same time because their life’s ended at the same point for them. Even though it’s years apart, to Boone it was just a second or two. He wasn’t waiting long. Just my opinion.
It's absolutely genius. A plane crashed, creating tragedy, and Jack opened his eyes. (Pilot). A plane takes off, creating beauty, and Jack closes his eyes (The End). brilliant. only Lost
Spend this last month and a bit watching the whole show for the first time with no expectations and loved it. I also interpreted the ending correctly with a bit of extra explanation afterwards to clear things up. Great video btw.
If only more people would understand this. So many people disliked the ending bc they didn’t understand it and thought that they had all been dead the whole time. Personally I think the ending was brilliant
People don't like things they don't understand, i'm glad to see someone who spend some time explaining things in such a simple way. Lost is a true phenomenon, something like it won't happen ever again. So.. ENJOY it!
Its just so emotional.. seeing Jack's final steps and all they went through. I don't think I can explain exactly why it gets to me so much.. I think you're right on the money. You can cry just thinking about it!
ADiamondQuartz I had tears in my eyes when Sayid & Shannon, Claire & Charlie, Sun & Jin, and Sawyer & Juliet all remembered everything. I can't decide who had the best love story out of everybody.
Erich King I mean, it's been 13 years since it premiered and almost 8 years since it ended (September 22, 2004 - May 23, 2010) and they're probably exagerating anyway.
Not that I needed this, but thank you. Back when the show was airing, I was part of the IMDB forum chat, and people that didn't get this would drive me up the wall. If only the 2004 group wandered into that cabin, they would have seen their orientation photo and freaked. I thought there were missed opportunities. Like, Hurley could have actually had a guitar to stash for future Charlie to find, instead of a secret message. Or, that ranch dressing could have been Hurley's creation from working in the Dharma kitchen. Otherwise, it was well thought out.
Literally have been saying this for years haha...also in the last scene I'm pretty sure Ben and Hugo say something along the lines of "we made a good team" referencing how they took over gaurding the island :) the fact I still get excited about this shows says something about the writing, so awesome
People are getting way to hung up on the hydrogen bomb. The hydrogen bomb had absolutely nothing to do with the end of the show. They lead you to believe that the H-bomb explosion caused the flash-sideways, but it didn't. The H-bomb story line is ultimately why the hatch included the timer and button. The main characters always played a key role in 'The Incident' which was mentioned in season 2 when they first enter the hatch. Drilling into the pocket, the shoot-out with Dharma, etc. That was always meant to happen. That WAS the incident. Once Jack and crew's role was done in the event, the island sent them back to 2007. It was about making sure that things happened always the way they were meant to. Now what happened with the bomb is unknown. Did it go off? Not sure, but probably not. What is interesting though is that it's clear that the entire event is the reason woman can't give birth on the island if they conceive there.
I truly agree with you. The confusion happened when they tried to explain the alternative timeline on the series finale. Also, Juliet said on Season 6 premiere that "It worked". I don't know what she would say that. But I'm thinking creating events that led to 2004 is what "worked"
@@victormkhetsane regarding the “it worked” I think she was referring to flash sideways when she was dying and was with sawyer at the vending machine. She told him there to unplug and plug it back in and he would get his candy. She said it worked as she handed it to him. I could be wrong though
When Sawyer heard juliet saw 'it worked' in the real world, even though she said it in purgatory, because in the afterlife they could be together again. So it worked
As a child didn't pay much attention and lost interest. 10 years later held attention and got lost in the explanation. A month later watched this... Gg i'm finally full circle. Quick and easy, thankyou my good man! 🖒🖒
I remember, years ago, trying to explain purgatory to someone, and how they weren't dead from the start. It was like talking to a brick wall. This video explains it really nicely though. Clean too. Very good job. Defiantly deserves more views.
I just binge rewatched the series to see if I missed something and was so confused with the ending (Hurley staying on the island, Kate and Sawyer leaving) but now this has cleared everything up for me! Thank you so much for this!
I knew that they weren’t dead the whole time but I didn’t know how the flash sideways fit on the timeline so now seeing that it literally doesn’t go anywhere on the timeline makes infinitely more sense and the story now fits in my head perfectly. Cheers, and see you in another life brother
You captured my sentiments exactly after watching this video. Here i was all these years being like WTF is with that ending lol, boy was i wrong. Couldn't have said it better than you did.
It happens to me too, I watch the show for the third time, fist time didn't like the ending so much but I enjoyed the show anyways, now, watching it again was magical, everything makes perfect sense and the explanation is great, love the whole show and all the different perspectives of each rol!
Not to be a dick but you must have not watched the show. The show is not confusing at all. Literally like at all, it’s all there explained fully and it’s not even remotely complex.
so basically they all had to wait until the last of them all died in their own year and all finally met again at the church to move on to the afterlife
No, they don´t have to wait. Imagine that when you died you are born again, but also everything that happened before your birth has already happened the same way it happened the first time you were born. It's the same with death, when you die you go to inmediately to that point when you already are with others you love. For example if you die before your mon, when you die your mom will already be there waiting for you.
@@DivaDaveD man why did you trigger this ignorant fool. He's obviously waiting for someone to say something like that so that he can let out all the hatred he has inside for other people's belief.
I think another reason why people think they were dead the whole time is because when John lock had to kill his dad; his dad said "this is hell and we are all already dead"
Zac Crump yeah I think they actually alluded to them all being dead multiple times throughout the show .. remember when Richard told them they were all dead?
1. They weren’t dead the whole time 2. The flash-sideway was the bridge between their death and heaven. They had to amend/deal with their regrets/struggles. Jack had to be a father so that he could experience what his father went through and finally forgive him. Sayid helped Nadia’s husband because he blamed himself for her death in real life. Ben helped Alex with her Yale application because he blamed himself for her death. After they dealt their complexes, finally they arrived at the church 3. Even though they died in different times, they all met at the heaven as if they just died. There was no waiting in heaven. When Kate said to Jack at the concert, “I missed you so much”..she meant that she lived a lonely life after his death. 4. The bomb didn’t work. Ben wasn’t on that plane. Still he was a part of the flash sideways. So the “plane didn’t crash because the bomb go off” theory isn’t correct. 5. Richard’s curse was over. He wasn’t immortal. His hair turned grey. 6. Ben couldn’t let go off the guilt/regret of Alex’s death. That’s why he didn’t enter the church. Also there’s a chance Ben tried to betray Hurley after he replaced Jack. When Hurley said, “Ben, you were a great number 2”, I felt like Hugo was trying to forgive Ben for something 7. Dr chang was the host of the Dharma initiative videos. He was the also host of the charity concert. Maybe he found redemption too 8. Jacob’s death was little undercooked. The only way someone could kill him if the person stabbed him before he could speak. But before dying, Jacob had a full conversation with Ben.
The thing that bothered me (that I haven’t seen anyone mention) is that in the original airing, at the very end, the flash to a shot of the beach. That was 13 years ago and they don’t do that on hulu. To the best of my recollection, it was either the plane and it hadn’t been picked over the way the survivors supposedly had done or there was no wreckage at all. All I can recall is that it looked like a big FU to the audience intended to say “look, none of that happened” When I rewatched the show just now, I was looking for any sign that it either did or didn’t happen. The speech Christian made to Jack suggested that it did. He also explained that the ppl in the church had died at separate times. Jack died just after seeing the other plane escape and he smiled while being comforted by Vincent. I wonder if they later removed the final beach shot because it was misleading and ambiguous.
This might be hella dumb, but I recall watching at the time, and then it cut to Kimmel doing a live show with the cast and crew, I wonder if that shot was the opening of Kimmel and not the ending of Lost
I agree with everything else, but I do think the bomb worked and that Hugo and Ben actually made a good team. The bomb working because Juliet banged on it until they fulfilled their task and were transported, and Faraday's arc otherwise wouldn't make sense. Ben was always (mostly) fine being the second-hand man but just didn't know everything and felt betrayed. With Hugo he wouldn't have that
@@sportbikejesusthe shots of the original plane crash set were intended to provide a palate cleanser for the audience between the ending scene and the next show / ad break. They removed them after the first airing because it did create confusion, they weren't obviously behind the scenes shots.
see, my first time watching lost this video is exactly what i thought. it was explained in the end and everything. hurley said ben made a good partner in protecting the island. the only thing making lost so confusing is the fanbase that are trying to prove their own theory right
Jessica Nycole lost is one of those shows that you should watch once, but it's such a long...agonizing, confusing road that I couldn't possibly go down it again 😂
Hahaha. I just binge-rewatched the entire series from start to finish, in about a month, and THEN I found the Chronogically LOST version of the show, so NOW I am rewatching certain parts of the series yet again, because without the flashbacks and in the right order of time, the show has a better flow to it. I have even started to roleplay (in text format) online, in this Verse now, since I cannot stop thinking about it. I mean, the first time I saw the show, back when it aired on television, I was much younger. Now, being able to watch it from another perspective as an older, more experienced individual, I find that the show is even more amazing than how I remembered it. Especially the ending. I didn't like it at all back then, but this time? This time I think the ending was beautiful and perfect. *#LOST*
Lost is my favorite show of all time...and I love the end. I wish Christian had addressed the island and/or the light specifically in the church. I always have looked at it as, because the purgatory world is timeless, all souls are essentially stuck there for eternity, unless one has a moment in his or her life that is powerful enough to allow them to remember and move on. I like to think that, without the moments on the island, this group of people may have never been able to move on. Also, there were two very bright lights in the finale...one being the heart of the island, and one being the light that filled the church. I find it hard to believe they weren't meant to be connected. Right after Jack fixes the island and turns the light on, we see the light fill the church. Maybe the island has a connection to the afterlife that is bigger than just the Oceanic 815 survivors? Maybe if Jack hadn't fixed that light, no soul would ever be able to move on. Remember Hurley saying that they would all go to hell if the MIB left the island? So basically, if the MIB left the island, the light was out for good. So, if the light goes out for good, they all go to hell. If we take that literally, then the light certainly has a connection to one's fate after death in the LOST universe. So I dont think it is far fetched to say that the light that filled the church was the heart of the island.
The point of the whole story was pretty smart. Layers of mysteries, answers only leading to more questions without real resolution. We obsessed over the "why" and Jack obsessed over changing the fate of he and his friends. In the end, no resolution we got would have satisfied us. If we learned the original inhabitants of the island were from Mesopetamia, for instance, we'd say "why did they get there? When did they come? HOW DID THEY FIND ZE ISLANDAASXAAS" In "across the sea", mother cuts short the pregnant girl who is about to ask "where did you come from" with a "any answer i give will only make you ask more questions..." Paraphrasing of course. She's telling us and the woman to "let it go", just as Jack's dad said to him MANY times. "let it go, Jack." The last season's "flash sideways" is the only thing that happened after everyone died, in Christian Shephard's words "some died before you...some ... LOOOONG after." Jack lets it go and gives himself up to save his friends. This is the release and resolution for the show. There's the moral to LOST. It was stated plainly in the last episode that what happened on the island DID HAPPEN, and that it was the most important time in Jack's entire life.
I’m fourteen and finished lost five days ago. I cried so hard because I realised it turned into my favourite show. My parents had once watched it so they were like why don’t we watch it together. I’m trying to get all my friends to watch it but because they never heard of it the say no 😭
Point is Miles was right at the end of season 5. Using the bomb at the Swan station was actually “the incident” Jack thought he could avoid by using the bomb itself
@@ilirianzuta6852That doesn’t contradict the original point. Point is, Jack thought he was going to change things by exploding the bomb but the reality is that the bomb always exploded and was part of the causal loop that led to the creation of the Swan.
Hats off to you for being a good "teacher" and breaking it down for everyone! I've always understood but have been somewhat unsure of how to explain it. From the day the pilot aired this has been my favorite show of all time. It's brilliant, and I'm ecstatic to see it's still relevant enough for videos to be made. 💙
I'm cruising through old comments, and you probably forgot you made this one, but thank you for that compliment. I try hard to make sure I'm speaking clearly and using language that is easy to understand. I've watched this show enough times and read about it enough that I have all of this extra knowledge floating around in my brain. I'm glad I was able to give you a good way to explain the ending to people.
To this day I cannot believe how many people --Almost 15 years later, still didn't understand the show and its ending. Almost every person who didn't like the ending or disliked the last season were just those that didn't understand it (and/or have chosen not to understand it out of fear of being wrong or looking stupid).
I dont get how people could possibly be confused by it. besides it being quite clear on its own, Christian literally explains everything in detail in the last episode. I originally watched the show when I was 15 and back then I thought they basically over explained it I literally remember thinking "yeah ok, I got it, no need to explain everything like im a toddler"
@@thesnuggles0 Despite the fact that Christian's speech at the end completely spoon feeds the audience directly with how it's meant to be interpretted? I'm sorry, but the Lost finale proved the lack of critical thinking skills many people just don't possess. Nothing to do with the writing whatsoever.

And then due to school and responsibilities, every episodes i have this on and off to catch it up till 2010 i stop watching it cos its too confusing. Then 2018, im 27 this year. My curiosity still sparks me on what really happen to jack, locke, sawyer, kate etc these are the characters the entertained me and excites me. I grew up watching them. Thanks to Netflix i finally got to know all the answers i finally have it. The best series stories ever told. Even its fictional, you can feel the impact of the how the storyline was given. Whats sad is how ive become now, just got to know the ending at the end. Its beautiful.
Exploringwithruz dude me too. I started watching when I was 13, it was taken off the air and moved to a channel I didn’t have... then also stopped watching cos I got confused and tried to carry on when I left off and just wasn’t in the mood for action at that point... then something came to me recently (I’m 27 and in QUARANTINE lol) and I felt ready to watch it from the start again. Oh my god, best journey ever and definitely my favourite series of all time.
Because that was one scene writers put it in last minute to try to appease fans that were upset they were dead the entire time. They had to out something in to cover themselves because they had been denying for 5 years that they were not dead the entire time. One cover up scene does not explain an other worldly power on an island that exists outside of time that no one can "find." (Its because it was purgatory the entire time)
I actually loved the ending. LOST was never about explanations, it has always been about people, about choices and about life. People tried to logically explain it, but we're talking about a place where a crippled man walked again, where a lady got rid of cancer, etc. Locke explained the island on season 1: "This is a place where miracles happen". End of story, no logical explanation.
If there is no logical explanation why we bothered watching all those seasons? There are so many shows that are about people, choices and life. If Lost is about that, then it’s not different than other shows. We started watching and kept watching this show because of its mystery and because we wanted answers and explanations of what those mysteries are. That’s what kept me watching and waiting for the next episode, not the people and their relationships (which were also good to watch, but this is not the point). So in the end when I saw the finale I felt like I was scammed.
Koloyan You GOT plenty of answers and endings to that all, it's all continuous and ends pretty solid i think. You were scammed that you got a suspensful story with great dialogue between great characters Oh wah wah. Why attack the belief and fate of it all, instead of just understanding and enjoying? It ain't your show. Not gonna be perfect. You're not gonna just live your life and get all the answers. I watched the show back again and LOTS of the questions you are concerned about arent even much of a question, or get answered. LOST requires more of it's audience, you can't be OMG NO ANSWERZ IT WAS ALL A THRILLER FOR NOTHING when you're clearly a snob. In the end, it put us in a ride and sometimes that's all that matters in the end, finding your peace and light that the island offered, jacob wanted them to see. Not right or wrong. You werent scammed.
Koloyan the key point is that you get what you want out of it in the end, but dont be all FucKiN ShIT sHoW when it was a good show. Outside of logic is perspective, this show offered a grand perspective, yet you were so OBSESSED with logic you were confused and upset cuz you didnt get it the way you wanted
I also don't care about the destination and only care about the journey. HOWEVER I totally understand peoples complaints about not getting answers to the plethora of mysteries presented in the show because during its original network run it was marketed constantly as though the answers we all were waiting for were coming. I think that's mostly ABCs fault and not the writers though.
At one point I've started having this idea in my mind that the guardians of the island are not immortal or young forever, I think that a guardian lives outside the bounderies of time, that the guardian doesn't see the time as a straight line, it can move ahead, it can move backwards, it can even appear somewhere after its death. And I think it can do that because that's the real power of the island. When you think about it, coming in contact with the island somehow unlocked this ability in Desmond to do a very similar thing, like a reducted version of the Guardian's power, since Des seems to be able, even if he doesn't control this power, to see his OWN time alive not as a straight line, moving his conscience through it, both backwards and further ahead. Also, while Desmond doesn't have the ability to change anything, the Guardians DO. That's how Jacob chooses his candidates, he sees their lives, in their entirety to make sure those would be worse without the island and then he comes back at a certain point of their lives to "touch" them and give them their new destiny, making sure they'll get to the island. And what the Man In Black posseses is a corrupted version of that same power. Those are all powers that come from the Island since the Island itself doesn't exist costantly through time, it moves through it, that's why it can't be found. It's not that absurd of a theory considering that's exactly what the Observers did in Fringe, another JJ Abrams series.
Dude throughout my entire life I've watched Lost 4 times and after my last session I came up with the exact same explanation. Now that I watched your video it seems that it is the right explanation and I'm happy that I was finally able to find it out
This was very clear in the show. They all lived their lives and died at different times. I'm glad you are putting it in plain English for the people who didn't seem to get this for some reason. So many people don't pay attention or listen.
Just finished binge -watching - it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Already knowing the ending made it so much easier to enjoy, but from what actually takes place, the ending through me for a loop because it actually showed that they did experience everything on the island and it was all real. That made the whole experience much more jarring.
I've been screaming this at my unappreciative family members for years! Frustrating that people say the ending sucked just because they didn't understand it. Awesome video

vodkacannon lol, I know, I'm just joking around. I realized the focus issues afterward, but this was just shot on a whim with my phone. I'm going to do a few more videos about Lost things, and when I do I will make sure the focus issues are solved.
Just a little clarification for the people who are asking how come Juliet is not remembering them from the 70s. I might be wrong, because I haven't watched the episodes for years, but in time loops what counts is the personal proper time of the person. For example, Juliet has been born say in 1970, she lives on the Island, then the plane falls in 2004, then they do whatever they do until the time loop and then her older self goes back to the 70s. So basically, knowing them in the 70s, in 2004 is in Juliets's future , not in her past. So there is no way for her to recognise them. Just my 5 cents. I also thought the ending was dissatisfying but it was ok, because the series was so complicated, I can't see a rationally satisfying way to end it.
haha I have watched Lost for the 3rd time now because I am studying Michael Giacchino's use of Leitmotif in the series. And I am also writing my thesis on the use of leitmotifs in Lost!! I just love Lost, and this video made so much sense!!
I'm such a sucker for recurring melodies in video games or TV shows, and nothing beats lost's soundtrack for this. I absolutely adore his use of leitmotifs. My personal favourite is how he uses the same Melody for dramatic evil ben moments and softer instruments but same Melody for sad ben moments.
I was a big fan of the show back then and got very frustrated with how the series ended, but still liked the series overall and always talked about it with my partner. A couple of years ago she asked for us to watch it, and reluctantly I accepted. Oh Boy, was I wrong. The show is amazing, including the finale. What I realized at last is that all my disappointment back in the day was due to the crazy expectations and theories we all had during the lost experience thing (which was amazing). I was just frustrated back then, but having watched the show again at a more mature age with better understanding made the show whole for me again.
Thank you. I’ve tried starting Lost a few different times, and tonight was the last. I got 4 episodes in and had an overwhelming feeling that it wasn’t worth it. I came to TH-cam and searched “Lost explained”. Yours was the only video that wasn’t riddled with comments stating that you were wrong. My takeaway: vaguely interesting twist but not worth 90 hours of my life watching the entire show. My sincerest apologies to anyone who loves the show. I don’t mean to discredit you. I just know it wasn’t going to be for me. It seems like the writers were coming up with the explanation as they wrote the show, and unfortunately, that takes so much power from the potential for a truly mind blowing reveal at the end.
Been trying to explain this to everyone I know the EXACT same way and they still don't get it. Guess I don't need to make a vid (like I ever would). I like to think Hurley ruled the island for thousands of years but that's just me.
Luckily for me I never saw any videos related to the show before I finished it. I always liked every part of the show including the ending. When I first heard people saying that the ending was bad, I was shocked and I thought about why people hated it, I couldn't get any answers. I thought maybe they just didn't like how all characters reunited at the end? But how could someone hate that? Then I realized the reason why some people hated it is that they thought the whole story was based on an afterlife of these characters? I was then surprised by how stupid and misunderstanding some people could be.
Hey, thanks for this. Quick question how does Desmond in series 6 manage to travel between the flash-side ways and the island through a the ct scan/Widmore electrical-magnetism device?
He doesn't. He just thinks he does. What did you think "candidate" meant? It was meant in the sense of the Richard Condon novel, _The Manchurian Candidate_ .
no,, he moved on to to become a ranger in the army, got married and moved to LA where aliens took over, dr taub is his boss, and van pelt turns out to be his sister in-law, and apollo creed somehow wasnt actually dead and winds up being his cop partner.
I have been trying to tell everyone I know what you just showed us. Thank you for showing and for being totally right on this. Spot on dude and thanks again.
You forgot to mention that their nuking the site to prevent the incident *is* the incident, so they kind of doomed themselves. It also creates the time distortion for the candidates, so that once the implosion releases that energy again, and then Ben tries to move the island, everyone starts moving around in time.
That makes sense. Especially when Jack asked his dad if they’re all dead. His dad says everyone dies sometime: some before Jack and some long after. So that explains them all reuniting only once they’ve all actually died which could’ve taken hundreds of years in Hurley’s case. Anyway, still lots of questions but less than before I watched this video lol.
I loved, watched and flowed this story from the beginning on TV. And this is the best explanation I have ever seen and is exactly what I think. Awesome work man.
I still get actual fans telling me that they ''really liked the show but just telling us they were dead the whole time made the story seem pointless''. I don't understand how anyone actually watching it doesn't get it. It's not like one of the mysteries, they literally tell us everything that happened, happened.
They ruined some parts of the show/characters for numerous reasons; budget, writers strike, inventing too many mysteries they couldn't answer, actors wanting out, writing themselves into a corner, studio pressure etc. but I still loved the show as a whole. I don't think the ending ruined the entire show...also fuck you.
Mike, the show itself was fucking explained that everything that happened was real within the last 15 minutes of it, so yes you are stupid for not understanding it when Christian said it outright in clear words lmao.
NC Quadraxis IK what he said. Its still a fairy tale, thats what I was insinuating. It may have "happened" yet I like some shows to stick to what is actually possible to make it more believable. Ik its fiction yet I laughed my ass off when I seen the smoke (to me it turned an action seires into a comedy). Lol I see I hit your soft spot buddy. Im sorry, I truley am.
thanks for the video, just watched lost again for the 2nd time. It is the only serie that i actually got super attached to.. the plot, the characters. I hope that one day they can make another serie like this where it feels almost like a movie every episode
Thanks man, good explanation of the time loop. I just finished my 9th rewatch of Lost and I can gurantee every Hater - every question has been answered and No - they weren´t dead the whole time.
Just some points you may find interesting... So from the perspective of the characters who went to the "flash sideways" purgatory realm, when did they start experiencing this timeline? Since they were on the plane when the first footage was shown in series 6, does that mean that's when they started or did they have to live their life again to reach that point and then fly and not crash? I think the whole Island was purgatory. There are too many coincidences on the island that serve as personal artifacts relating to a given character. Echo for example found his brother on the very same plane he saw in Africa, with many other interconnecting coincidences. One thing I have noticed is that when a character dies, shortly before he/she resolves something important to them, as if they have moved on from any unfinished business from the living world. For example Boon let his sister go after Lock put that hallucinogen on his head. A short time later he dies (moved on to the after life). Mr echo resolves his guilt for his brother's death, almost immediately he dies (moved on to the after life) This also explains the reason why the babies born on the island died,. It was because there was not a soul within them. The survivors were lost souls (hence the title of the show). Babies conceived before the island (before the characters died) are dead as well but have a soul just like the mother so they too are in purgatory, that is why they were born. But babies conceived during the island (purgatory), they "die" of sorts because they are not real and have no soul. You could be right but if you are, then it make less sense than if they were dead the whole time. Given the whole supernatural things going on as well as the things I mentioned. You mentioned Christian stating everything that happened was real. But I believe what he was talking about, was his life, his dad and the people waiting in the next room, stating a real meaning out of the experience of life, not the island. He also said in the same scene that it was an environment they all created and they they needed each other to move on. He would not be saying that if the island was real (why would that be a point for moving on, mid-way through their life?) and I very much doubt he was talking about the flash sideways realm, since there were no challenges to move on, unlike the island.
I’m sorry, but for anyone reading this now, every point you bring up is contradicted by the show itself. Where the writers have weighed in, they’ve contradicted these points as well. - The flash sideways is based on the Buddhist concept of a Bardo, it has nothing to do with purgatory. The flash sideways begins for them at the moment of their death. Since time doesn’t exist in the flash sideways, no matter when they die, they will all enter the Bardo together…it will seem as though they all were on the plane at the same time. There’s really no other way to depict a reality outside of time within a reality that is based in time. - Again, purgatory was not a concept used by the writers. Regardless, the writers have explained many times, and the show itself explained that they were not dead the whole time. Interconnectedness was a theme throughout the show. Many characters had shared connections. I can’t deduce how this is supposed to logically demonstrate that they must be dead. - What important things did Nikki, Paolo, Dr. Arzt, Anna Lucia, Libby etc resolve before they died? - The pregnancy issues occurred due to the incident at the Swan station in 1977. There were no issues with pregnancy before that. In fact, we see Ethan being born on the island to Horace (leader of the Dharma Initiative) and Amy Goodspeed. He certainly wasn’t born dead with no soul; he grows to hang out with Ben, accompanied him when Alex is taken, becomes the surgeon for the Others, helps recruit Juliet, infiltrates the camp of the fuselage survivors, kidnaps Claire, and ultimately only dies when Charlie shoots him (after about 30 years of life). - It’s a show with mystery and supernatural elements. Are you suggesting that the characters in every such show must be dead because it makes more sense to you? Were Mulder and Scully dead because of supernatural happenings in the X-Files? Were the residents of Twin Peaks all dead? Are the kids in Stranger Things all dead? No, this argument is a rationalization. Supernatural ≠ dead. - This argument is nonsensical and seems like another rationalization. To paraphrase: everything that happened is real in terms of the meaning of the experience of life except on the island, where the most important experiences of their lives occurred. Again, that make no logical sense - how can you separate the island from their life experiences? Also, Christian is most definitely talking about the flash-sideways. They are in the flash sideways, not on the Island when he says, “THIS is the place that you...that you all made together, so that you could find one another.” He could not be referring to anything other than the flash sideways. Also, you fail to understand that it is based on a Bardo, where once someone does, they go there to resolve lingering issues (letting go) in their life before moving on to rebirth. This is why Jack was able to resolve his father issues by being a father, others who are not ready to move on, like Ben, who is resolving issues with his own father, and with what he did to Danielle and Alex, or Eloise, who is resolving her issues with her son Daniel and his father, Charles Widmore both need more time to let go. Yes, these are challenges in death that the characters must resolve and let go of before they can move on to what’s next. Note, the writers didn’t favor any religious belief such as heaven or reincarnation, they left it as what’s next. That’s why when Jack asks, Christian responds, “let’s find out”.
The purpous of the flash-sideways was to show that meeting each other was their destiny. I think that the problem was that LOST started being much more like a sci-fi and mistery series, and ended being much more like a spiritual series, and this may have been the reason why so many people got disappointed...
@@Supernamek-rh2xvYep, one of the main themes of the show from the beginning was the conflict between the man of science (Jack) vs. the man of faith (Locke)
Their experiences on the island being a timeloop is critical to understanding the show, in my opinion. Heavy Buddhist themes throughout, clearly--wheel of samsara, reincarnation, Dharma initiative ("to do one's dharma" in life is to do the work necessary to evolve spiritually), heavy Buddhist/Taoist iconography during the final scene with Jack and his father, and probably more that I'm missing. The island represents the lessons and challenges these people had to evolve through to be released from the cycle of reincarnation. That's why their flashbacks and flash-sideways scenes were so important--the lessons on the island mirrored those earlier life lessons. Jack, the man of science, seems to have had the most difficult time of them all of letting go because of his reductive, ratiocinative mind. But he learns his ultimate life lesson and thus is able to enter the hall with his friends and loved ones to "move on." Perhaps to be released from the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, or perhaps to embark on the next lifetime full of lessons. I think the former, however, because of the significance of the island itself. Ben not going into the church hall is also telling, I think, because when he "awoke" in the side-line, he must have realized that he committed mostly evil, selfish acts in his lifetime, thus he needs to "hang back," so that he can continue to understand his lesson/life purpose and then be able to ascend into infinite love like the others do. Who knows for sure as it's a truly deep and multifaceted piece of literature (if I could be so bold to call it that). It's a masterpiece of a show is all I'm certain of. Really got me thinking about life and death and spirituality and meaning and purpose and relationships and love. All the most important things in this life.
Totally agree.. thank you for writing this down.. the story is so deep and folds concepts and philosophies of the east, universal religions and laws of physics underneath its story lines.. that's what makes it a great show that every viewer will get to receive it differently mirroring their level of awareness..
Just watched the show once more, 4th time now? Love it. The whole show needs the last talk between dad and jack, everyone should understand at this point what is going on.
"time loop" is what we call a time paradox, something happens becuase something happened due to time travel but it only happened because of time travel, example: the incident happened cuz they crashed and tried to stop it after going back in time but doing so actually caused the incident, and the incident is what crashed the plane in order for them to cause the incident. boom time paradox.
except if they blew up the bomb in 1977 then they cant cause the plane to crash anymore. they erased that timeline like in the terminator series. so this explanation falls apart.
@@c0rr0s10n But the bomb going off caused the plane to crash indirectly, so it didn't erase the timeline - it was always part of it. The incident was the bomb detonation. It necessitated the button pressing that Desmond was late to do which caused the plane crash that caused them to build the house where Jack lived.
@@peach5438 Atom bomb on magic island was set off. This resulted in a sequence of events that would have Desmond push a button and then one day to not push a button. This brings 815 who eventually go back in time and detonate an atomic bomb which results in a sequence of events that....
@@callumosullivan7546 when time loops are in play the concept of 'first place' doesn't really apply. It's like trying to point to the beginning of a circle.
I loved your explanation...I would like to know what your script would be, for a possible return of the show, but keeping the main protagonists...would it be possible?
Wow!! Great analysis, it’s frustrating when you can see something so clearly yet it’s no so easily explained out loud! I’ll bet, like me your mind is a very busy place and unlike most people you can see things clearly. Interestingly I had an experience when I was five, that I’ll NEVER forget, at the time I was absolutely baffled, and was astonished and couldn’t comprehend, had I imagined it? NO I was 100% certain yet it couldn’t be so because it simply wasn’t there any more. My beloved picture book changed. Something I LOVED looking at wasn’t there any more. I’d go to that book every day to see if it has changed back, and about 5/6/7 months later it had changed back , only for it to change again the next time looked. Too young to understand but I’ll never forget the confusion. The strangeness….. I’m 52 it’s interesting how I was 5 in 1977…….
What i thought was weird is that in the flash sideways world things are so much different. Jack had a kid with juliet, sawyer is a detective, etc. I think it would have been better if the purgatory started right after the plane lands, and everyone on board was there for their original purposes.
It wasn’t purgatory, it was based on the Buddhist concept of a Bardo described in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Very simplistically, it allows people to resolve issues before moving on to rebirth, that’s why the experiences were different.
Thank you! I just finished watching for the first time with my mom and this was exactly what I took from it. Exactly! I need to show her this now and maybe then she'll be convinced.
Please some one answer my question, if Hurley becomes the protector of the island in 1977 and can live for hundreds of years, why is he not around on the island already when the plane crashes? If he's in the dharma photo that Sun sees why is he not there already when they crash?

Wow. One of the best comments I’ve ever read on any subject!
Perfectly explained
@@LegacyXJudah LOST still has the best idea of what exists after death that I've ever seen. No other media representation comes close to how creative it is. Imagine dying and immediately being reunited with your loved ones, (even the ones who were still ALIVE when you died) simply because time doesn't EXIST there. Everybody dies, and therefore everybody will be there at some point. I'm tearing up just thinking about it....
@@KoolKeithProductionswell said, this is how I interpret the ending as well
Good explanation. I may have missed it in the last season but was michaels story finished? He’s not in the finale, or walter.
@@onlinefool9931 i didn't understand that. Why was the purgatory created? And why do you find mib dumb?
@@onlinefool9931 actually no they didn't. They made it up in the beginning because they didn't know how long the show was going to go for, so they were basically just spinning plates. Season 4-6 however was planned, when they finally convinced the network to allow them to end the show with season 6.
Christian explained it perfectly, they all died at separate times but that was like a meeting place for them, and it was definitely real
So it’s like the ending of titanic, Jack was waiting for her with everyone else who died and they were waiting for her to join them as that’s where their most significant experience occurred.
So it's not a parallel time-line but alternative time line?
@@indra3821 my guy did you not watch the video??
Maybe jack understood but we didn’t
But why did they bother with the flash sideways at all?

When Jack’s eyes closed one and the “Lost” title came up on the screen, I bawled my eyes out. lost is such a beautiful story. It dawned upon me that Lost isn’t just some thriller action/adventure tv show about people trying to survive on a deserted island. Lost is about how each of those people are “Lost” in their own lives as well. They tied it together so well in the end. This show is one of the prime examples of “its about the journey, not the destination.” And I’m tearing up.

It's ok, I get that a lot, haha. I considered reshooting it with better focus and an actual script in mind, but the views really picked up so I left it. game of thrones would be cool too.. also maybe you should re do this one... but keep the original on since its picked up traction and then have a link to it in the description... or make a comment pinned at the top with the new link... so if people come down to complain they will see your link and go straight to that one. Good stuff though really... I like your thinking!
You can try to apply your logic all you want, but the fact of the matter is that's not what the writers intended. Click the link in the description and you'll hear it straight from them. They absolutely, 100%, factually, DID NOT die in the plane crash.

Erich King I mean, it's been 13 years since it premiered and almost 8 years since it ended (September 22, 2004 - May 23, 2010) and they're probably exagerating anyway.
Excuse me while I send this to just about everybody I know.
Please do! I made it because I still hear people being confused about the ending all the time, I thought a refresher was necessary
+Brian Walker Brian, what a great video. Thank you for posting. Thanks for sharing. It's Worked! Cheers
I got that from the beginning. I don't know how so many people were confused by it. I've had to explain it myself multiple times.
Otherwise, it was well thought out.
yep same
Literally have been saying this for years haha...also in the last scene I'm pretty sure Ben and Hugo say something along the lines of "we made a good team" referencing how they took over gaurding the island :) the fact I still get excited about this shows says something about the writing, so awesome
Superb explanation, dude! 👍
@@MK-xe7qv wow. nice
This video made me more confused than the series, though xD
Still he didnt explain a lot of shit that dont make sense at all so his theory is just incomplete and makes no sense actually
cOmInO makes perfect sense .
The theme song use to scare me I have no clue why sounded scary back then lol
I remember, years ago, trying to explain purgatory to someone, and how they weren't dead from the start. It was like talking to a brick wall. This video explains it really nicely though. Clean too. Very good job. Defiantly deserves more views.
I just binge rewatched the series to see if I missed something and was so confused with the ending (Hurley staying on the island, Kate and Sawyer leaving) but now this has cleared everything up for me! Thank you so much for this!
What was sort of left out was specifying that Ben and Hurley were the only ones who remained on the Island for the rest of their lives.
Walt would take over the island after Hurley passed the role of protector of the island to him.
Even the comments section of a lost video makes my brain hurt.
All this explanation and im still Lost
ba dum tss
Lmao right!!!
Hector Bucad i honestly still don’t get it...
i thought i was the only one lmao
No one had to wait. Purgatory is outside of time.
Muhammad Raped A Child, go read the Quran
@@DivaDaveD man why did you trigger this ignorant fool. He's obviously waiting for someone to say something like that so that he can let out all the hatred he has inside for other people's belief.
There is no waiting because there is no time essentially
I think another reason why people think they were dead the whole time is because when John lock had to kill his dad; his dad said "this is hell and we are all already dead"
Yeah but he had no reason to say that, he was kidnapped and brought to the island.
He just wanted to confuse his son once again! lol
Zac Crump yeah I think they actually alluded to them all being dead multiple times throughout the show .. remember when Richard told them they were all dead?
It’s a gnostic story. You are trapped in hell...and you’re already dead.
@@Blobby3822 He did have a reason because he said something along the lines of him crashing a car then instantly ending up there.
Since like the 2nd or 3rd episode of the first people had that theory in the forums. Makes more sense than the actual ending.
1. They weren’t dead the whole time
2. After they dealt their complexes, finally they arrived at the church
When Hurley said, “Ben, you were a great number 2”, I felt like Hugo was trying to forgive Ben for something
7. Dr chang was the host of the Dharma initiative videos. He was the also host of the charity concert. Maybe he found redemption too
8. Jacob’s death was little undercooked. The only way someone could kill him if the person stabbed him before he could speak. But before dying, Jacob had a full conversation with Ben.
Finally someone speaking fact💯
The thing that bothered me (that I haven’t seen anyone mention) is that in the original airing, at the very end, the flash to a shot of the beach. That was 13 years ago and they don’t do that on hulu. To the best of my recollection, it was either the plane and it hadn’t been picked over the way the survivors supposedly had done or there was no wreckage at all. All I can recall is that it looked like a big FU to the audience intended to say “look, none of that happened”
When I rewatched the show just now, I was looking for any sign that it either did or didn’t happen.
They removed them after the first airing because it did create confusion, they weren't obviously behind the scenes shots.
see, my first time watching lost this video is exactly what i thought. it was explained in the end and everything. hurley said ben made a good partner in protecting the island. the only thing making lost so confusing is the fanbase that are trying to prove their own theory right
Getting ready to rewatch the whole series. Glad you made this video
Jessica Nycole lost is one of those shows that you should watch once, but it's such a long...agonizing, confusing road that I couldn't possibly go down it again 😂
TheTyler701 lol I've watched it twice already lol not gonna lie. Lol Desmond and Hurley are what keep me through to the end
Jessica you watch Lost? Can we date please?
Highly Oppressed Cis White Male lol sorry but I'm busy watching lost but thank you
*#LOST*
6 years dude, 6 years! thank you
Lost is my favorite show of all time...and I love the end.
Dylan Trost That's a great theory, I'd never looked at it like that before!
Dylan Trost Amazing Dylan ♥
Brian Walker 1977 to 2004 is at least 30 years. How come they looked thevsane in 2004 and 2007 as they looked 30 years ago?
The year they are in is irrelevant to their age. Regardless of when they are, they all have their own timelines.
Who else cried when Charlie died
The point of the whole story was pretty smart. Layers of mysteries, answers only leading to more questions without real resolution. We obsessed over the "why" and Jack obsessed over changing the fate of he and his friends. In the end, no resolution we got would have satisfied us. If we learned the original inhabitants of the island were from Mesopetamia, for instance, we'd say "why did they get there? When did they come? HOW DID THEY FIND ZE ISLANDAASXAAS"
In "across the sea", mother cuts short the pregnant girl who is about to ask "where did you come from" with a "any answer i give will only make you ask more questions..." Paraphrasing of course.
She's telling us and the woman to "let it go", just as Jack's dad said to him MANY times. "let it go, Jack."
The last season's "flash sideways" is the only thing that happened after everyone died, in Christian Shephard's words "some died before you...some ... LOOOONG after."
Jack lets it go and gives himself up to save his friends.
I’m trying to get all my friends to watch it but because they never heard of it the say no 😭
this is so funny and wholesome
Point is Miles was right at the end of season 5. Using the bomb at the Swan station was actually “the incident” Jack thought he could avoid by using the bomb itself
Nah whatever happened, happened. The incident was gonna happen whatever they did
@@ilirianzuta6852That doesn’t contradict the original point.
Ashley L I’ve been the same, I understood it but found it hard explaining it
I'm cruising through old comments, and you probably forgot you made this one, but thank you for that compliment.
@@DavrK I feel like is people are still confused and don't understand it shows how bad some of the writing was within the show.
@@thesnuggles0”I don’t understand… must be the writers’ fault (even though a majority of people do understand)” 🤦♂️

@@Nostalgic90s765 please don't try and deny that was the ending they set out with from the beginning of the show and not something they pulled out of their ass towards the end.
I watched lost since 2005. I was a kid. 14year old.

OMG there's a LOST reference in the music video of Why Not by LOONA its so good go check it out!!!!
I think it's because Jack dies in same spot that he wakes up in on pilot show
*ikr*
Because that was one scene writers put it in last minute to try to appease fans that were upset they were dead the entire time. They had to out something in to cover themselves because they had been denying for 5 years that they were not dead the entire time. One cover up scene does not explain an other worldly power on an island that exists outside of time that no one can "find." (Its because it was purgatory the entire time)
that don't make no cents luv xx
@@JCMcCann But the oceanic six leave the island for a bit
I actually loved the ending. LOST was never about explanations, it has always been about people, about choices and about life. People tried to logically explain it, but we're talking about a place where a crippled man walked again, where a lady got rid of cancer, etc. Locke explained the island on season 1: "This is a place where miracles happen". End of story, no logical explanation.
I second this
If there is no logical explanation why we bothered watching all those seasons?
I just finished watching Lost. My third time. Best show ever. And I still found things I missed from before.
Great explanation of the ending.

Oh wow, that means a lot. Thanks!
My favorite music moment in the whole show is when Kate walks in on Jack playing his theme on the piano in the Dharma house.
Jack actually learned to play his leitmotif just for that scene :) Pretty awesome
Yeah, that it is a good topic. I like how he reprised season 1 tracks in refreshing way like 'Hollywood and Vines', one of my faves.
I couldn't figure this out after binge watching it; I don't know how anyone could get this by watching it once a week for 7 years.
Lost has the most beautiful ending I've ever seen on a show. I don't know how people don't get it

Most underrated ending ever
Tarek Attal worst ending ever

Get off this video, WE NEED TO GO BACK!!
THANK YOU!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED! We were lead to believe it was an alternate timeline but it was purgatory after they died.
So it's possible that Sawyer lived another 40 years and was nailing Kate every single day? If so, he OWNED Jack at the Purgatory Parade to Paradise.
No, Sawyer was in love with Juliet
no,, he moved on to to become a ranger in the army, got married and moved to LA where aliens took over, dr taub is his boss, and van pelt turns out to be his sister in-law, and apollo creed somehow wasnt actually dead and winds up being his cop partner.
I just completed watching it and my mind blew up after seeing the ending but now i got it. Thanks dude
I loved, watched and flowed this story from the beginning on TV. And this is the best explanation I have ever seen and is exactly what I think. Awesome work man.
This made me remember why I loved the show so much. I know people hated the ending, but I thought it was beautiful.
love this. i wasnt really confused to begin with. i was just hoping someone else caught on and had the same ending
I understood the show very well...no confusions at all...it was well portrayed...this breakdown video confirmed it.
You know the show is lit when you make a whole project video based on it
I still get actual fans telling me that they ''really liked the show but just telling us they were dead the whole time made the story seem pointless''.
I don't understand how anyone actually watching it doesn't get it. It's not like one of the mysteries, they literally tell us everything that happened, happened.
They were not actual fans then lmao, only real fans understands the show.
Brendan Mc ohh ya cus floating smoke men are real. How could I be so stupid.
Love this, I don’t know why more people didn’t get it
thanks for the video, just watched lost again for the 2nd time. It is the only serie that i actually got super attached to.. the plot, the characters. I hope that one day they can make another serie like this where it feels almost like a movie every episode
I’ll uh
Thanks man, good explanation of the time loop. I just finished my 9th rewatch of Lost and I can gurantee every Hater - every question has been answered and No - they weren´t dead the whole time.
What about Michael?
Mr Ecko ?
I like to think this guys family is behind the camera trying to eat their thanksgiving dinner
LMAO and they've never seen Lost
Mr echo resolves his guilt for his brother's death, almost immediately he dies (moved on to the after life)
This also explains the reason why the babies born on the island died,.
If you watch the show Lost was a spiritual show since season 1 but people weren't ready back then in 2004
@@Supernamek-rh2xvYep, one of the main themes of the show from the beginning was the conflict between the man of science (Jack) vs. the man of faith (Locke)
It's not a timeloop.
Totally agree.. thank you for writing this down.. the story is so deep and folds concepts and philosophies of the east, universal religions and laws of physics underneath its story lines.. that's what makes it a great show that every viewer will get to receive it differently mirroring their level of awareness..
This is the best explanation out there
Why didn’t I struggle one bit understanding this back when we watched the show religiously
Because you pay attention and some people are very stupid.
Just watched the show once more, 4th time now? Love it. The whole show needs the last talk between dad and jack, everyone should understand at this point what is going on.
"time loop" is what we call a time paradox, something happens becuase something happened due to time travel but it only happened because of time travel, example:
the incident happened cuz they crashed and tried to stop it after going back in time but doing so actually caused the incident, and the incident is what crashed the plane in order for them to cause the incident.
boom time paradox.
except if they blew up the bomb in 1977 then they cant cause the plane to crash anymore. they erased that timeline like in the terminator series. so this explanation falls apart.
@@ModKijko ok so then the plane didn’t crash in the first place
This is all extremely easy to understand. Anyone who's seen Lost should be able to understand it.
I’m still baffled and I just watched the whole thing
💯 correct. Best show I ever watched. Beginning to end.
Hurley doesn't become protector in 1977. That happens in 2007 or 2008. At the beginning of season 6 they flash back to the present.
