  • 4 things I WISH I knew BEFORE studying Economics at university (UCL):
    This short video will outline the 4 things I actually wish I knew before deciding to study Economics. At that time, I didn't research enough or ask people what the course actually entails. But, here is everything you should know if you're thinking of studying Economics (BSc) at uni.
    *you can ask university students on LinkedIn about their course too
    **btw if you are starting university this year, you could potentially change your course in the first 2 weeks, up to the first half term.

    I too am planning to go to UCL for Economics, I am a bit concerned about the math part, did it get better in the later years? And what kind of career prospects did you get after the economics degree.

    Great video! Just wanted to ask, if you did decide you wanted to switch course from economics to economics with......, is it possible/common to switch, and if so, do you know what the procedure would be?

      Thank you! That is a really good question. It is possible to switch courses within the university, given you meet certain minimum requirements. Some unis say you need to inform them of the switch within a certain time of starting the course, eg 2 weeks. But I know someone who was able to switch courses after they completed their first year but still be a second year student (LSE). However, after second year it is very uncommon for this to happen. The procedure varies between universities so you would need to contact your departmental tutor or the course administrator. I hope this helped!

    Thank you for useful informations. Please tell me the list of textbooks that you had to study in year 1. I really need this list. I do self study of economics and i want to taste the books which students read in university

      Hi! So the textbooks are as follows: The Economy by Core Econ (it's an online textbook), Mathematics for economists: An introductory textbook, Fourth Edition by Malcolm Pemberton and Nicholas Rau, and Statistics for Business and Economics by Paul Newbold, William L. Carlson, Betty M. Thorne. These were the textbooks for the core modules in my first year! I hope this helps

    Yh econ at UCL is not very politcial at all. More scientific and mathematical based. And yh it's basically self learning. A shame but whatever.

      @@verticalmindz5886 First apologies for not responding earlier! Okay, so if you enjoy maths and are really good at it, then I would recommend UCL Econ, but this is really your decision. I will be uploading a video either this week or next week on exactly how exams and content looked like in my core modules for Year 1 and Year 2, so you can get an idea if this is what you would enjoy. Also, when I was applying to unis, I also got an offer from Kings for the same course. Personally, in terms of the course I would choose Econ and Management, but as it was a relatively new course at Kings, I chose Econ at UCL. I hope this helps!

    Hi I have an offer for Bsc Econ at UCl.
    I really want to swith course to Econ and Stats or something else as I feel pure econ is too theoretical for me. Is it possible to change when I get there?
    Many thanks

    • @baishnavikumari3524
      @baishnavikumari3524  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Firstly, congratulations on the offer! And yes, it is possible, though not guaranteed, to change your course. This is as long as you meet the minimum requirements for the other course, a place is available on that course and you are able to complete that degree. You will have to speak to your personal tutor or supervisor once you enroll first. Hope that helps :)
