    Such an interesting dish! I love rice, meat, and peas together! I have everything but will have to sub a different hot pepper and I will try regular fresh basil. I will make in a 2qt pot! I have a ribeye I need to use so it will be beautifully tender thanks!

    Thanks for the demo! Just got my second IP - an 8 quart - and the traditional cook-up later tonight will be the inaugural dish. I was very happy to find this video.

    Hello, thank you for video. I have always wanted to make this even since I went to Guyana for vacation and had some. But I don't have a instant pot. I have the ninja foodie and I was curious if I can follow your steps with the foodie?

    Looks great will try this method…to be clear when using an instant pot there’s no need to pressure the peas?

    Altee you used jasmine, what was the texture of the rice? I cook jasmine rice in my IP and I can't go past 15 mins on manual...even then it's sometimes a poppy mess

      I think it depends on how much water you add. It was perfect. You can check out the post on my blog and zoom in on the picture to see that it is not mushy at all.

    "Married Man Poke" is actually basil, it's called basil bush

    • @Metemgee
      @Metemgee  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is. It’s a variety of basil that is closest to Asian/Thai basil! I had a plant a while back but it died in the winter, even thought it was potted and I brought it in my house 🙁

    I am going to try this tomorrow but I want to put in pig tail, would I add it in with the beef or i have to cook it separate first? BTW, i love your recipes, my plait bread is waiting to go into the oven to finish off the pepperpot.

    • @Metemgee
      @Metemgee  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pig tails may require a bit more pressure cooking. I would pressure cook it by itself first for 20 minutes.

    Put a damp towel under your cutting board to stop it from sliding

    London calling: A few observations. To enable the chopping board from sliding all over the place, place a damp cloth underneath, not only does this enable the board to stay stable but also eliminates any possible accidents. The other thing I wish to point out, and this does not only apply to you but to many other people as well. I would like to point out that I'm sure there are more than 'guys' looking at this blog. Females also watch your superb cooking instructions and I'm sure they do not like to be referred to as 'guys'. Am I being too pedantic or am I an old fart? Curse me privately if you must. XXX

    • @Metemgee
      @Metemgee  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My dear cousin, thank you for your tips and observations. I actually had never used that cutting board on this surface before so didn't know it would slide and was already filming. Good tip for next time. Also I've never heard of women being offended by the term guys, it is used widely here in the US as a neutral term for a group of people, but I will be mindful in my next video. Thanks for checking out my video! As always much love!
